Rapper/visionary Royce Da 5’9″ has gone on record several times stating that Redman is one of his favorite MC’s. The two rap heavy-hitters share a mutual admiration as Redman has sung Royce praises on social media while listening to the Detroit veteran. At the beginning of the clip Redman says, “Royce 5 fucking 9, n-gga. Listen to this fucking verse.” From there, he lets the song ‘Flesh’ play as he nods his head to the beat. Fast forward to now, it comes as no surprise that the two lyrical giants would trade verses on their latest track, “Royce & Reggie.”

Redman sets the tone of the song with his hard-hitting classic punchlines “women all in my DM/ Give ’em that super-dick/ Yeah, I Apollo Creed ’em.” Royce follows, showcasing his technical skills and lyrical prowess over the DJ Pain 1-produced beat.

The song is featured on Royce’s newly released The Heaven Experience: Lost Sessions EP. The six-track EP takes the listener on a rollercoaster of emotions from personal stories about his uncle to his transformation into a ‘Grown Ass Man’. Ion Wanna” feat. What led to the idea of One Pumped Mama?

One Pumped Mama was inspired as an off-shoot from my previous online community Pump Mama Pump, which was a place where I encouraged and motivated moms who exclusively pumped on their breastfeeding journey. My journey started with my baby being born 6 weeks early, at 34 weeks, and having to pump exclusively while he was in the NICU. I had no prior lactation education and wanted to equip women with the tools to pump as a form of breastfeeding successfully exclusively. To date, I have exclusively pumped for all three of my children, providing me with over 5 years of pumping experience. While on my journey, I realized that there were limited products that would provide functionality, style, and versatility to the breastfeeding journey and beyond. I decided to engage my community in a new way and offer products that would offer these three components to our journey while simultaneously talking about “Life after the Pump.” One Pumped Mama serves as a community that provides mamas with pumping accessories that don’t scream “breast pump bag” and are versatile and chic enough to use beyond their breastfeeding journey. Inspiring mamas to be “Pumped” about all things breastfeeding and motherhood is one of my goals for One Pumped Mama. 

How hard was it to create the actual product?

Creating products was no easy feat for me, mainly because I have no background experience in supply chain management, no contacts with vendors or manufacturers, etc. I literally only had a concept and took it from prototype to production. I knew I wanted all my products to be ethically produced, which was extremely important to me. Since there is a 12-hr time difference between where the products were produced, I would spend many late nights and early mornings researching and talking with the manufacturer about what components I needed for each product. I started by providing drawings to the manufacturers and then receiving prototypes. After receiving the prototypes, I would make adjustments and send them to the manufacturers for a second round of prototypes. When the products met my standards and were tested by me and a few influencers, I would get them mass-produced, which would take approximately 45-60 days, and then an additional 45 days to be delivered in the United States. I was able to finance the production of my products through my 401(k) and savings, and I am looking to evolve the brand with new products in the near future.

What would you suggest for someone looking to explore your products as the first item to purchase?

For someone looking to explore the One Pumped Mama brand products, I would want them to know that our products are Premium products for moms on the go that will outlast their breastfeeding journey. Our products were created for the mom that does not want to sacrifice style for functionality as a mom. The versatility of our products is unmatched.

How do you manage juggling both motherhood and entrepreneurship?

Being a mom and an entrepreneur are two of my greatest joys. I have an amazing support team, especially my Husband, who assists with both journeys. What I have learned in juggling both journeys is to ask for help. There are some things that I would love to do alone, but I realize that many hands make the load light(er). Both journeys are essential, and I must ensure that I handle both with care and consistency. Lately, keeping a task list and calendar have been vital to motherhood and entrepreneurship and have allowed me to see what needs to be prioritized in both roles. 

What did you learn about business and yourself in developing One Pumped Mama?

Developing One Pumped Mama taught me that innovation is essential in any business. I realize that I have to be fluid in my expectations for my business and open to change even if it does not yield the results I intended for my target audience. Regarding personal development, I learned that I am determined and tenacious when it comes to solving problems. I’ve also learned to take a moment to reflect on all that I have accomplished in a short span of time and not compare my process to anyone else’s.

What would be the next step in your business journey?

WOW, so many things are on the horizon for One Pumped Mama. We are in the prototype phase for new products to be released this year that will assist in making the motherhood journey easier and more stylish for mamas. We are looking at some local boutiques and brands to collaborate with, as well as growing our community and target audience to make One Pumped Mama a trusted brand in the breastfeeding community.

Blac Chyna has said “enough is enough.” And for once, she isn’t talking about drama. Instead, the artist, whose real name is Angela White, took yet another step in returning to her “natural” form this week when she got her face fillers dissolved on Instagram.

Explaining that she was tired of how she looked “as Blac Chyna” and “wanted to return to Angela” by getting her facial fillers dissolved, she said, “I’m tired of the look and it’s just not flattering. It’s just not what I look like — it like totally changed my face and I’m ready to get back to Angela.”

The video showed a medical professional injecting various spots of White’s face and lips with a syringe and catheter that contained an acid that will dissolve the filler within a few days. A few times, she appears to flinch as the medical professional explains that it might “pinch” or “sting.”

Earlier this week, she shared a video in which she explained that she got her breasts and buttocks surgically reduced, captioning it with:

“I want you all to be apart of my life changing journey.  I Reduced my breast and Gluteus maximus. ‘You all have the power to heal your life, and you need to know that.’ ~ Angela White.”

According to Healthline, “only hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, like Juvederm, Restylane, and Belotero, can be dissolved. HA is a sugar naturally found in your body, mainly in your connective tissues. Mainly, HA works to keep your skin hydrated, which contributes to plumpness. The HA in fillers is a synthetic, or lab-made version. Fillers made from anything else aren’t reversible — but again, they won’t last forever, regardless. Fillers degrade over time, which is why you need to get follow-up injections to maintain their look.

The medical professional explained that White might experience some swelling over the next few days, but it would be temporary. No doubt, fans will eagerly be awaiting to see her new, more natural, look in the coming days.

Janet Jackson is set to go on tour this summer. In a new announcement, the legend will capture her life in the forthcoming documentary, Family First.

The new documentary will be delivered by Lifetime and A&E, chronicling her efforts to bring the Jackson family band back together for the first time in 40 years. The effort will be done with her brother Randy.

Jackson said of the doc, “I am excited to continue to share my story, and welcome fans into my life and the ‘Together Again’ tour. Thank you for your never-ending support, and I hope you enjoy the next chapter.”

Randy Jackson added, “In this next chapter in the documentary, Janet and I are thrilled to welcome viewers on the road with us as we embark on the ‘Together Again’ tour, celebrating the milestone of 50 years of Janet’s career with fans across the country. Janet Jackson’s tour is her first in four years. This time she’s bringing Ludacris.

Janet just announced her 2023 Together Again North American Tour on social media, and fans wonder what she has up her sleeves.

The grammy-nominated, Oscar and Golden Globe award-winning actor and comedian is back with a new stand-up special, premiering globally on Netflix April 4th.

On Wednesday, the streamer released a video taking fans behind the scenes of the original comedy special.

“Why did I title this special My Name Is Mo’Nique? I give y’all my word, after 72 minutes, y’all gon’ know why this s**t is called My Name Is Mo’Nique,” the actress says in the teaser with a smile. “Y’all might say, ‘Damn, we didn’t know we was gonna find out all that!’ Yes, my name is Mo’Nique. This one right here is personal.”

“When you walk away from this one, when you’ve turned your TV off from this one, you’ll say, ‘Now we understand that woman,’” she continues. “For 32 years, I have been funny, and I’m grateful for that gift. But this show right here really allows you to understand why I swing like I swing… There are things I’m going to say in this comedy special that I thought I would take to my grave.”

Directed by L. Frazier and executive produced by Mo’Nique and her husband, Sidney Hicks, My Name Is Mo’Nique will balance comedy with insights about the comedian’s life and upbringing in Baltimore. The special was shot on Oct. 29 at Georgia State University’s Rialto Center for the Arts.

In 2022, Mo’Nique settled her discrimination lawsuit with Netflix over a pay dispute. She had publicly blasted the company in 2018 after claiming the streamer was looking to underpay her to the tune of $500,000 for a one-hour standup special, and then in 2019, she filed a discrimination suit against Netflix. Details regarding the settlement remain under wraps, but the two parties appear to be in a good place with their upcoming hour-long special.

Over the weekend, it was confirmed in a post to her 5.4 million IG followers that popular OnlyFans model Diana Deets, who is better knowns as “Coconut Kitty,” was found dead in an apparent suicide. Her age is still yet to be confirmed.

The post read, “It’s unfair. Life is unfair. We wish you guys could get to know her the way her friends and family did. See, she was such a light to this world. Truly she was always glowing. You could never slow that girl down. She was so hard headed and strong, but also just so kind with the biggest heart we have ever known. She was always trying to lift everyone up around her. She wanted everyone to win.” 

Deets claimed to be 24 years old for many years and in an exposé by Rolling Stone, it was discovered that she edited her photos considerably, which led to allegations that she was baiting pedophiles. In the article, Deets related the creation of her Coconut Kitty character to her visual art, explaining, “I wanted to make something that looked like a real-life anime character, small chin, big eyes, that was made in my likeness, because I use a picture of myself and I edit it. I just wanted to create a fantasy, just a character. And I was able to hide my identity and still make money off my art.” 

Deets was also accused of luring younger women to join OnlyFans, but in her response stated, “I wouldn’t do anything in an unsafe environment, and I wouldn’t attend myself if I was unsafe. And I wouldn’t do that to someone else if it was unsafe for them.”

Aoki Lee Simmons has been under fire after revealing her boyfriend on social media. Commenters attacked Aoki’s decision to date white and questioned if she ever experienced dating her own race. Kimora Lee and Russell Simmons’ youngest daughter decided to curb her social media activity after an influx of nasty comments following her Valentines Day post.

The drama began after Aoki did a ‘hard launch’ of her boyfriend after hiding his identity. They’ve been together for over a year and she’s shared pictures of him before but only his feet. This was the first time anyone saw his face or skin color.

After countless racially charged comments calling her beau old and ugly, Aoki decided to respond.

Disneyland Resort announced that for a limited time beginning Feb. 15 at Hollywood Land in Disney California Adventure Park, guests will have the opportunity to encounter Moon Girl from the newest Disney series “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur,” which debuts on Feb. 10 on Disney Channel and Feb. 15 on Disney.

The series follows the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur, whom she accidentally brings into present-day New York City. The duo works together to protect Lunella’s Lower East Side neighborhood from danger.

Moon Girl arrives at Disneyland Resort as a part of Celebrate Soulfully: a combination of food, entertainment, and experiences that highlight and celebrate Black stories. Actress Meagan Good has been in a press run for her new show Harlem and she recently shared that she’s ready to settle down and have children.

The 41-year-old beauty said she put off having children in her 20s and 30s to focus on her acting career. Meagan revealed she’s ready to have kids whether she’s married or not. She admitted she previously considered having a baby when she was married to preacher DeVon Franklin. They previously discussed their journey with freezing her eggs and shared how her outlook on motherhood had changed. “When you say you’re not sure you want to be a mom, people look at you like you’re a bad person,” said the director and actress to Romper. “As if something’s wrong with you. But I was never really that girl who said, “I can’t wait to get married,” “I can’t wait to be a mother.” I just was very much a tomboy, and I started my career so young that I’d always been very business-oriented.”

Unfortunately their divorce was finalized in June 2022 after 10 years of marriage.

“I’m in a place where I know that I want to be a mother — married or not. Whatever happens in this next season in the act of life,” she said.

Meagan said she previously put off having kids because she wasn’t ready. She dismissed remarks by her friends, asking why she didn’t have DeVon’s child.

Singer Lizzo is making headlines again and she’s got everyone’s attention.The 34-year-old singer recently posted a “hard launch” of her relationship with boyfriend Myke Wright, sharing intimate flicks of themselves at a pre-Grammys party in Los Angeles over the weekend.

The elegant couple attended the Pre-Grammy Gala and Grammy Salute to Industry Icons ceremony on Saturday night.

She posted photos on her social media accounts of the pair embracing behind the scenes, with the caption: “Hard launch.”

Lizzo first confirmed she was in a relationship in April 2022 during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live show. She and Wright made their first public appearance together and debuted as a couple on the red carpet at the screening of Lizzo’s Amazon Prime Video series, Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.

Rapper Lil Boosie Badazz‘s 21-year-old daughter Iviona, a.k.a. Poison Ivi, came out on Instagram. Intimately hugged up with her girlfriend, Iviona, an aspiring rapper, captioned the image: “Endlessly in love with you.”

Boosie, 40, went viral in February 2020, when he was criticized for comments he made about Zaya Wade, the then-12-year-old child of retired NBA star Dwyane Wade.

During a recent episode of We Can Do Hard Things podcast, actress Tracee Ellis Ross opened up about being 50, single, and going through perimenopause.

While reflecting on experiencing perimenopause, Ross shared,

“I have, for my entire life, been tethered to a very routine cycle. And I’m very connected to my body, so I would know I’m ovulating. I would have all the feelings of knowing that and all of that is out the window. And I turn 50. And here I am in this open space now, sort of allowing the bubbling up of whatever might be here.”

Perimenopause means “around menopause” and refers to the time when body makes the natural transition to menopause, marking the end of the reproductive years. Perimenopause is also called the menopausal transition. It often begins between the ages of 45 and 55.

The Black-ish star read an excerpt from her journal in which she questioned what it means to be fertile and to come to the end of her reproductive years.

“I can feel my body’s ability to make a child draining out of me. Sometimes I find it hilarious, as if there is a fire sale going on in my uterus, and someone’s in there screaming, ‘All things must go.’ As my body becomes a foreign place to me that doesn’t really feel safe or like home…I don’t know how to manage or control or fight the external binary narrative of the patriarchy that has hunted me and haunted me most of my adult life.”

“Is it my fertility that is leaving me? Is it my womanhood? Or is it really neither? But I have to fight to hold my truth, because I have been programmed so successfully by the water we all swim in, by the water we all are served. And I feel fertile with creativity, full of power, more and more a woman than I’ve ever been. And yet that power that I was told I must use was not used.”

“I say this to people all the time, I’m a wonderful mother. And I’m very mothering. And it’s been hard for me to claim that.”

She later expressed how she feels grateful that she is now able to look at being childless ‘with curiosity instead of heartbreak.’  She explains,“The heartbreak does come up, and I get to hold that gently and lovingly and then say, remind myself, ‘I woke up every morning of my life and I’ve tried to do my best, so I must be where I’m supposed to be.”

“I’ve been single for a very long time. I have had many wonderful ins and outs of things, but no one stuck to the pan. As a result, I get to curate my family, my chosen family around me. And I don’t think I realized the gift of that until I’ve started to get older.”

Andre Rison recently revealed in an interview that rapper Tupac Shakur picked up his ex-fiance Left Eye the same night she burned down his house in Atlanta in 1994.

The Ex-NFL star said Tupac pulled up in a limousine and picked up Left Eye the night before she set his mansion on fire on June 9, 1994.

Andre claims that after they left, they “doubled back” to the house and she went inside and saw a platoon of women.

Andre, 55, said Left Eye was upset when she arrived home to see the house full of women. He said the women were with his boys, not him.

“We didn’t sweat nothing. We don’t sweat stuff where I’m from,” he said.

He said his homies had already alerted him that she was seeing Tupac on the low. “But it’s all good though. We weren’t sweating. We just turnt up.”

Back in September rapper Cardi B pleaded guilty to arranging an attack on two bartending sisters, one of whom she believed was having an affair with her husband rapper Offset. She settled a plea deal that including no jail time and 15 days of community service which she failed to complete by this Tuesday. Once again, Cardi has been given another chance by receiving an extension to complete her community service.

NBC NY reports

Rapper Cardi B has been given an extension to complete her community service stemming from an assault at a Queens strip club in 2018.

The Grammy Award-winner appeared before a judge on Tuesday. She now has until March 1 to complete 15-days of mandatory community service she received as part of a plea deal.

The 30-year-old, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, was accused of ordering an attack on two strip club bartenders. She pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault charges.

Cardi B was supposed to complete her community service by Tuesday, but so far, had not done any of the required time.

Janet Jackson’s managers are accusing the legendary pop star of non-payment on fees for nearly a quarter million dollars..

According to The Blast:

According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the Grammy-winning singer is having legal action taken against her for what her managers are calling “unpaid services.” The lawsuit has been filed against Jackson and several of her companies dating back to 2017. The suit claims Jackson entered into a “business management services agreement” in August of 2017 with David Weise and Associates.

The company describes itself as “the largest business management firm in the country.” They also boast that they are no strangers to working with entertainers and such. “We work alongside the world’s top artists in music, film, and television, as well as athletes, executives, entrepreneurs, and other high achievers, offering a sophisticated range of concierge-style services to meet their lifestyle management needs.”

The company is accusing Jackson of bailing on paying the full amount owed for their involvement in her career. Obviously, Jackson is a big star who could probably pay the debt sooner rather than later. The total allegedly owed is $238,593.88.

In collaboration with The Ten Co. and popular cannabis brand Cookies, Leray, 25, announced the debut strain with at the historic Cookies Melrose dispensary in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday, January 14. At the event, the Trendsetter creator took photos with fans and offered guests 3.5g 8ths and a 1.5G joint.

The arrival of Pink Zushi has been anticipated by the rising star, who has been promoting the upcoming launch for months. Leray previewed the strain during a pop-up event at last year’s Art Basel in Miami.

On the East Coast, Pink Zushi also became available in New York City. Antidote Soho and Queens Cannabis Clubs, two of the more popular cannabis hubs in NY, were seen reposted on the Pink Zushi Instagram account along with numerous people who had clearly picked up some of that new fire.

In October, 26-year-old Jaynisha “Jayla” Williams and her mother, Latoshia Leggett, traveled to Best U Now cosmetic surgery center in Plantation, Florida so the young woman could receive a breast augmentation and a Brazilian butt lift. As reported by her mother, Wiliams never woke up from the surgery.

According to Leggett, she flew in from California to attend her daughter’s procedure and waited in the facility’s lobby as doctors worked on Williams. “I was asking every hour, ‘How’s my daughter doing? How are things going?’ and they kept telling me, ‘She’s OK. Everything is fine,’” the grieving mother recalled. As time passed, other patients exited, but Williams never appeared. Soon after, an ambulance arrived with its sirens blaring.

“The ambulance pulled up. That’s when I said, ‘Excuse me, can somebody tell me what’s going on?’” Leggett said to the news station. As Williams’ body was rolled out of the building on a stretcher, staff from the Best U Now cosmetic surgery center delivered devastating news. “They politely grabbed me and said, ‘Your daughter is dead,’” she revealed. A report from the Broward Medical Examiner’s Office noted, “The procedure was completed, but [Williams] never awoke from the anesthesia.” Her cause of death was listed as undetermined. Since the tragedy, the Florida Health Department has filed administrative complaints against the facility, as well as Dr. John Edward Nees, the designated physician for Best U Now.

Reports later revealed that an OBGYN name Dr. Millicent Muir gave Williams the anesthesia she never woke up from. The designated physician for the surgery center, claimed they allowed a doctor who wasn’t qualified to administer the aesthesia to sedate Williams.

The victim’s family says no one from the surgery center has reached out to them following their loss. The 26-year-old left behind two young children, ages 5 and 2. “It’s hard. They ask if they can go to heaven to see their mom. They don’t understand,” Leggett tearfully said during an interview with NBC Miami 6.

Tiffney is a school teacher with a masters degree & 2 other degrees who is an amazing parent & is very capable of raising our daughter to be great even if I wasn’t in the picture… but I am in the picture so… Tiffney called me & asked me would it be okay for my daughter to wear the dress in the photo to the twins party… after talking to her thoroughly for over an hour about it, I agreed to let my daughter rock.. being that she wears a school uniform 5 days a week. My daughter has grown tremendously over the last year & is now almost 5’9 in height & beautiful. She’s a straight A student & is shy in most cases & dresses like a Tom boy in baggy jeans and Dr. Martin boots damn near everyday. The twins had a futuristic bday theme & my baby wanted to look great & be in full confidence going to support her friends celebration. Reebok CEO Todd Krinsky stated that the partnership with Cardi has proudly pushed boundaries and have put an emphasis on inclusivity and self- expression. He went on to say, “we’re so grateful for our partnership with Cardi over the years. Having the opportunity to collaborate with someone as passionate, iconic and talented as her is an unmatched experience and will certainly leave a lasting impact on the brand”. Today on her Instagram, Cardi posted her final collection which is the second part of her “Let Me Be…Next Level Energy.” “For my final collection with Reebok, I had to make sure we brought it to the next level. I needed every piece from the slides to the jumpsuit to be as big, bold, and fun as we could make them,” explained the Bronx bred rapper.

“It started with advertisement, and I just loved what they brought to the table,” Cardi B told FN about the partnership. “ I love that they saw my ideas. When I went to their headquarters in Boston, they welcomed me. A rep for dancehall singer Spice Official denies she’s in a coma after BBL surgery complications in Dominican Republic.

“Spice hasn’t had a heart attack, neither is she in a coma,” her booking agent Ray Alexander told Dancehall magazine after the rumors spread on social media.

“Those are all lies. The rumors were caused by people not knowing where she was and because she hadn’t posted on IG.”

Alexander didn’t say where Spice is, which only added fuel to the conspiracy theories.

The rumors began after the 40-year-old singer took a break from her Instagram page.

She wrote: “I’ll be off of Instagram for a while, I’m tired of being their only target for clout and click bait. Let’s see if they’re still gonna talk about “Only Me”. I refuse to answer to the noise they creating to gain my attention.”

Spice reportedly underwent multiple surgeries in the past, including breast implants, liposuctions, and BBL surgery.

Jen DeLeon did it all on the road to a “good a** job.” The Twitch/Warner Music host — who made name for herself coming up as a music journalist at HotNewHipHop and Complex — has been hustling hard her entire career with the can’t stop, won’t stop mentalty that stems from enduring all the stereotypical struggles that come with the rise in the entertainment industry. “So when I first started,” the L.A.-by-way-of-Chicago influencer shared on the Zoom call. “I was all about work, work, work, 24/7, didn’t sleep, always had something on my to-do list that I neglected everything else.”

However, the relentless grind in the entertainment industry would take a toll on the 32-year-old and cause her to reevaluate work load and embrace designated times for rest and relaxation.

She continued: “…I need to stop being like that.” And you literally have to make the time for your personal life and making that time and finding that balance. So then it was like I went so much into career, but then it was like I put everything into personal.”

Outside an impressive resume, including work with BET, Cheddar and Dash Radio, DeLeon grown a large following, simultaneously, as an content creator and motivational speaker on social media that she’s transitioned into lucrative branding endorsements with various brands like the most recent, Manscape.

Do you remember your first day in this industry?

Yes, I do, actually. So this started in 2009. So 2009, I worked with a company called GoWhereHipHop, they were a Chicago blog – up-and-coming blog – so they asked me if I was interested in doing interviews – I was. And then there like ok let’s do… It was the uhhh … The Chicago Bears… I don’t know what it was, but my first interview was with Lance Briggs for the Chicago Bears. So we went to their practice facility, and then that was my first interview. And I just remember it being super hot and not knowing what to expect. That was my first interview, like ever. So I didn’t know what I was doing and I was kinda just winging it – but I do remember that, like yes that was so long ago. I do remember that though.

Reflecting back on it now and seeing how far you’ve come. What would you have told yourself that first day?

[Smirks] To be yourself. Be yourself and not overthink it. I think going into it … There were so many things that I was worried about going into the music industry or this business – whatever you want to call it – one of the things I was always afraid of was… You know … You know how it is with – whether it’s like artists, athletes, and when it comes to like women and groupies – and it was just like I didn’t know how to approach it where it was like “How do I ask someone for their contact to do an interview without coming off like a ‘groupie’?” And I was scared of that. I really was so scared of that because I haven’t been in it. But, now, being in it, you can obviously tell based off someone’s energy and how they are. But that was one thing – like just be yourself. I was overthinking it because I didn’t know what to expect, and I realized when I was myself that’s when it just worked out.

Like everyone else in the music industry, what got you started on this journey was, of course, the love of music. Who was Jen before the industry base on her music selection?

It was Maroon 5, Britney Spears, N’Sync, Backstreet Boys, Eminem, Blink-182, Sum 41. It was that. Like Gym Class Heroes, so it’s funny, I never thought I would have gotten into Hip-Hop. When I first started, I wasn’t like, “I’m going to get into hip hop,” but literally, it found me. And so now it’s become that. But I’m definitely Pop and Hip Hop. Yeah, so before 2009 that’s definitely what I was listening to.

Tell us about getting your gig at Twitch?

The gig is actually with Warner Music Group/IMGN Media, for their Twitch channel, Bluelisttv. There’s a variety of great shows on the channel and I host 2 of them, “Build-A-Beat” and “The Drop.” Build-A-Beat is where producers build a beat in 30 minutes or less, with a lot of twists. The genre is chosen at random, they have to use kids instruments, the chat gets to choose high energy or chill vibes and there’s random elements, so it could be a whoopy cushion, a squishing noise, a notification noise. “The Drop” is where I talk about music news and releases and then we always have a special guest and performance.

How did you talk yourself out to taking the easy route?

Oh, it’s not easy at all. Just thinking about how hard I’ve worked and how long this journey has been that it’s like if I go the easy route now, why give up now? When it’s like, I’m on year… Am I almost year 13? Yeah. Started 2009. So it’s like I’m 13 years in that it’s going the easy route. If I was going to go the easy route, I should’ve just went the easy route from the beginning. I went through a lot of shit. I went through a lot of shit and I am determined to get everything that I know I’m supposed to get in this lifetime. So yeah, I’m not going the easy route. It sucks. But yeah, it’s hard. Like I said, we’re all going through stuff and it is easy to just go the easier route, but it’s so rewarding when you do something that you didn’t think you’d be able to do or overcome and then that’s no longer a battle for you anymore. Not something that you’ll ever have to worry about or stress about because you did overcome that. So it’s a rewarding feeling to feel that. It takes a long time to feel that, but when you feel it, it feels great.

Journalist, media correspondent, booking, you’ve done it all.  So what has been the favorite parts of your career?

It’s the interviews. It’s being able to interview those artists. So my favorite time was really when it was the HotNewHipHop and SKI TV days were my favorite interview times. I also was able to do it also with Cheddar, and then that was on TV, but it was different. I love the TV aspect of it, but because Cheddar was known for business and not for hip hop, it was a different, it didn’t hit the same as what it did when it was HotNewHipHop, SKEE TV days. So it’s always been that. I’ve always, literally since I was a kid, always knew that I just wanted to be on TV and have my own show. So yes, everything else is fun and everything’s been great and it’s been rewarding, but it’s being able to just talk to people. That’s my calling. That’s my gift.

Literally, I can talk to anybody. You can make me go out randomly on the street, be like, go talk to that person and I will find a way to have a conversation and be able to get them to open up. And it’s fun and it’s never stressful. Booking’s stressful. Any other thing that I’ve done even outside of that, even helping run companies, the different positions, I’ve felt stressful. I was never stressed out when I had to do interviews. Granted, we did talk about what the pay was at first when I do interviews. So it’s like you had to do other things. In the beginning, it wasn’t what was paying my bills. But now thankfully I can say yes, me talking on camera now pays my bills and I don’t have to do anything outside of that. But it’s always been being able to interview and talk and it’s always going to be that I feel.

Who is an artist that you had a heart to heart with? Even after everything, camera’s cut off, everything, you talking to them and you be like, “Yo, we have a real connection.”

Yeah, there’s a few actually. Big Sean for sure, one of my favorite people ever. Ever. He is the most genuine and humble person. During the pandemic, when he dropped Detroit 2, he literally only did four interviews and it was like the Trevor Noah show, Amazon Music, ESPN and me. When I saw the stories, I’m like, that’s so crazy to see that. But he’s literally one of my favorite people. Last time I saw him, I ran into him at Coachella, no one knows this either. I ran into him at Coachella because I’m also close friends with this DJ, Mo Beatz. And I had posted a thing that I was like, “I’m at Coachella by myself. If anyone’s here and they just want to hang out, let me know.” Mo Beatz text me like, “Yo, we’re here. We’re about to be at the grounds. Let’s meet up.”

So that was my SOS that Mo Beatz replied to. So I loved that. So that first day of Coachella, I ended up, I was with him and Sean and then what I loved was I tagged along with him just because there was literally nobody else. And it was so great. I remember he was even like, “Hey, have you ever met Jhené?” I’m like, “No.” But funny though, because for Postmates, one time I dropped off something for her for Postmates, but I didn’t know it.

So I was like, “No, I haven’t.” And he’s like, “Oh, I got to introduce you.” He’s like, “Jhené, this is one of my really good friends Jen.” And just even in that moment, I can’t just call him and be like, even though it’s like we know each other, it’s not like that, that we’ll be like, “Hey.” But I love that he even introduced me in that light because it’s like, no, we’re not friends where it’s like we keep in touch like that. But it’s throughout the years I was one of his first interviews when he signed to GOOD Music in 2009. So it’s just being able to have that heart to heart and just knowing he was just such a genuine, He’s literally one of my favorite people in the industry and I’m excited for him and Jhené and their baby.

Now social media has made you successful, but I got to ask, has it changed you in any way?

Social media? Yeah, I think even right now, the numbers game is irritating because it’s like, wait, I swear. I’m like, I am not [inaudible 01:06:56] up in any algorithm for anything. My engagement got lower this week that I’m like, “Wait, is it because I’m posting too much?” Where it’s like, whenever I post on social media, it’s never in real time and I wouldn’t use it as much, but I’m realizing how important it is. But then it’s just like, “Damn.”

It’s weird because I’m such an open person, but then I’m also not where it’s just, I would go where I’d only post once or twice a month, but it’s like, “Damn. I did so much in this last month, but I didn’t share any of it.” I think I have this stubbornness of why do I have to share everything? So why does it have to be like I got to post it or it didn’t happen? But it’s like I really am so stubborn that I won’t post shit. But then I’m like, that’s such a bad downfall for me because social media is such a big part of what we do for a living. And also it’s just a big part of life now. It’s just everything. It definitely stresses me out.

Do you feel like social media encouraged or strengthened you at all?

Yeah, no, I mean I love that it’s easy to just be able to express that, but it’s hard to keep up with all the different platforms where I’m like, “Oh, you have to have a different thing.” YouTube, I thought was like my, “Okay, that’s platform I’m really going to build. I want my plaque, I want that 100,000 plaque.” But then I’m like, “Okay, but now everyone’s attention span is 10 seconds. So even if I do these interviews, it’s not getting the views.” I’m like, “Okay, now Instagram reels is the new thing.” But then it’s like, no. Now TikTok is the new thing, but it’s like, oh you got to create something new for TikTok. And so it’s like, it’s overwhelming to try to keep up with every single one. I know there’s scheduling platforms that you can use, but I don’t like scheduling. But it’s hard.

Now with your channel, you’ve given yourself an opportunity to really let people in and really get to know who Jen Deleon is, just through your testimony. Do you still feel like you are reserved and you still aren’t as comfortable with revealing so much information about yourself or so many of your thoughts to the world?

Yeah, so like I said earlier, I’m like, I think I share maybe 90% of it, 90%, 95%, whatever that ends up being. But that other percentage I don’t show now. I definitely will in the future and I’m excited for that too. I’m excited to share that in the future. But the only reason I’m not sharing it now is because I haven’t learned and healed from all the lessons that came from these different experiences. So I want to speak from a place when I do figure that out and I know a lot of people will be able to relate to it.

Has representation become a big factor in your career now?

Yes. So I would say one thing I struggle with is from the Filipino perspective, no one ever believes in Filipino. So it’s like AAPI is such a big thing. I didn’t get included in a lot of that stuff. And I know it’s also partially because I don’t even really look like Filipino. So I’ve been struggling with that, of just being recognized within the Filipino culture and just trying to do more. But it just hasn’t hit yet. But I know that’s something very important, something I do want to get better at because that is my culture and I’m proud to be Filipino.

And as far as for representation as a woman, I think of course, especially in the times that we are in now with women empowerment and everything, that’s also very important. So I’ve just been trying to find different ways and the consistency and being able to do that because I know how important it is and I know I’m lacking in that for sure.

Personally, what have you noticed about success?

What I’ve learned about success is that it’s very up and down and it always feels like it’s not enough. And it’s like you have to figure out what is success to you. Because we can think success is, and I’ll tie it into me, before I was like, success would be making six figures and not having credit card debt. I’m like, “Great.” Dude, I hate fucking credit cards and debt. So I hate owing anyone anything. Then it’s like success would be being able to get viral interviews or success would be getting… There’s different things of success. But what I’ve learned recently is I feel that the true definition of success now is true peace and happiness within yourself.

I tied it so much into different goals and milestones, not realizing I was so focused on what I wanted to achieve career wise, that I didn’t realize how unhappy I was, just even in my personal life and how I wasn’t aware of myself. So now my definition of success has changed where it’s like, I just want to be happy. I want to be genuinely happy. Not the happy of like, Oh, we’re going to show on social media. I want to be like, No, I am so happy that I have no complaints. I am not pretending. I am genuinely every day happy about every aspect of my life. And that’s what success is to me now.

When did you begin to notice various people, either friend or associate, around you begun to change?

I think that once I came to LA and when I started with HotNewHipHop and it was becoming very consistent… Yeah, I don’t know, but I’m also such a ‘walk away from me’, I’m such a homebody that I don’t even have friends like that. I’m so closed off anyway, that I very much kept to myself and just anyone within the industry. So I would notice if some people, especially if favors were asked for like, “Oh, can I have tickets to this show?”

 I’ve had that a lot. I’ve had moments where I had to say, “Hey, we’re actually not friends.” Because they would use that to their advantage of, “Oh, I’m friends with her, and it would be no offense.” But what I remember, I won’t say names or artists, but I remember there was a artist that said, “Oh, so and so is not your friend.” And I’m like, “Yeah, I know that. I don’t consider this person a friend. She’s just someone that I met at an event.” And he’s like, “Oh yeah.” And he was just saying, that’s a bad look because of how she runs. But then I’m like, “Oh, I know. That’s why I don’t associate myself.” I’m like, “The fuck?” So I’ve kept my circle very small just because it’s such a small, the industry is like a high school so everybody knows everything.

You admitted to having a breakdown in the midst of doing so many great things at the time in your career. Is it weird that people believe it impossible to go through things because you’re successful?

You’re human. Everybody’s human. And I think that’s even one thing. Even when you look at these artists, say, the artists that you and I interview on, the famous people we’re around, they’re also still human. They’re going through their shit and it’s like, we got to stop thinking someone is just exempt from going through life. Literally, everyone’s going through something. So even with me, it’s like I have my moments where it’s like, “Damn. Am I doing enough or am I getting older? Am I doing the right thing? Am I doing the wrong thing?” And it’s like, I could be at some crazy event or planning for some interview and it’s still, sometimes I feel messed up because I feel like it’s not enough and I should be more grateful and I shouldn’t be complaining or be bitter about certain things, but I am because my work has nothing to do with my personal life and what’s going on behind the scenes. So I definitely want to clip from some of this interview, even though my vacuum is on.

Becoming as successful as you have through hard work. From family, from friends to love, how has it affected those relationships?

Well, for all of them, family, friends, and love, it’s like it’s being able to share that success with people that you love, it feels great. It feels great to be able to know… My family, they’re fine. They’ve worked all their lives that my dad and it’s all that set. They don’t even need my help at all. But what I love is that… Yeah, it’s like, “Dad, mom, you’ve got more money than me, pay my rent or something.” But what I do love is that I’m able to, if we want to do something that it’s like we can’t. It’s without question we’re able to do stuff like that. So I love being able to share those moments with my family. One of the things I remember with that app when we launched, I remember getting a bonus and my cousin and her husband, they hadn’t moved to Hawaii because he was in the Navy at the time and her kid, it was her first kid, it was going to be his first birthday and they were in Hawaii.

So our family was all in Chicago and then I’m in L.A. and I remember taking everybody from Chicago and we all went to Hawaii because I wanted everyone to be there for his first birthday. So even in that, that felt good to be able to be like, “Hey, let’s all do this together.” When it comes to friends, being able to help my friends who wanted to, whether they were artists and they just wanted to get within the music industry, being able to make those relationships if needed, being able to do that and provide those different opportunities, it’s always about helping. And then even in regards to love, being able to help somebody build what they want to build also because of that, when you are both successful in your own world, that is also rewarding in itself. So I mean, success is great, especially being able to share that. I think that success can suck if you have nobody to share that with and that’s all that you have blessed. So I love being able to share that success with others.

What is your proudest moment in this industry so far?

One of my proudest moments interview wise was with Kodak Black. So I was his first on camera interview ever. And I remember rushing back from my app job because they asked me and they’re like, “Can you be here at 4 o’clock?” And it was supposed to be the next day and the app company wasn’t Newport Beach. So I rush from Newport Beach to go do this interview. Yeah, my hair is fucked. Everything’s bad. So that interview ended up going viral until this day. I think someone just commented on one of my last posts, we need another Kodak reunion. It was one of his most viral interviews and I’m proud of that because it showed a different side of him. So I take pride in the fact that I can show people a different side of artists that people don’t even think exists. So I literally called it Kodak Black from a different perspective and it was a really great interview. Booking wise, I would say the NBA finals or booking Lil Wayne and he hadn’t done a performance in three or four years. So I’m proud of the NBA finals just because I just grew up on basketball and it was for the Cavs and Warriors. So it was like I booked for the Easter conference finals and then the actual finals.

So I booked 2 Chainz and Ludacris for those ones. So that was just a big moment because it was like, that’s probably the last basketball game I went to. And I would’ve never thought that I would be going to the finals because of work that I had done and it wasn’t an interview. But the only reason I was able to do that was because of my past interviews and my relationships. And then the Lil Wayne one, I’m proud of that one because everyone was so nervous that he wasn’t going to show up. But he did show up and it was a great show. So I’ll say those are my top three. That’s hard.

People think booking an artist is easy. Highly mistaken, right?

Well, first I will say that commission, yeah, you definitely deserve that commission of what you booked up for because it is not one call or one email or one text to lock it in. It’s, you have to get clearance from so many people to even book the artist. So it’s like if you go through the agent, you’re going to deal with higher fees because the agent wants their commission. If you deal with just directly with management, that’s easier. But still you have to, it’s like the rider. How long is the performance going to be? What is the production quality that they have? So there’s little things of that. Some people want to travel just through a jet and not get on an actual plane, but then they have to bring five people with them. There’s so many different aspects to it that it is, honestly, that’s why I don’t even do it a lot.

I can count how many I did because it is a lot of work. When you get the check for it, it’s great, but it is so stressful. Because you were just on your toes the whole time of like, “Shit, is this going to go through or is it not?” And then when you mix in the big names and big companies, when it is the fucking NBA, yeah, it’s stressful, but when it’s done, it’s worth it. But no, it is so hard. I can’t even count how many calls, texts, and emails go back and forth trying to lock in just one performance. Not easy at all.

Since I asked your proudest moment. What was your worst moment in this industry thus far?

I would say, see, that’s crazy. So thankfully I can say I don’t have a worst moment dealing with the business in the industry. You hear a lot of fucked up stories, fucked up situations and it’s just like I can’t point to anything specifically with that. I would say my worst moments was allowing my personal life and a relationship at the time be so emotionally draining and taking me off of my focus in what I wanted to do and caring more about that instead of myself. So that’s where I was trying, I talked about trying to find that balance between work and then personal and then going too much into work and then going too much in personal. And then that’s when I realized I probably shouldn’t have done that and I should find that balance because feeling like I had to play catch up because I was so invested in someone else and something else.

Now, most of the time on social media, we like to see people show what they want to see and even me and you are included, but a lot of people see us grow, but they never see us fall. So when is a time that you can recall that you failed, whether it’s small, big, whatever? You fucked up.

So I, again, did so many different aspects within my career. So 2016, I had two job offers on the table. One was for Complex as their LA anchor. And then the other was for this company called Live Video. It was a startup company, but the person behind it is this freaking multi-billionaire in Orange County that… Yeah, honestly, and it would’ve worked now that I’m thinking about it. So what it was, was it was paid content. So it was just exclusive content where people would have to subscribe. But back in 2016 that was so abnormal. But now it’s normal. We have Twitch, we have Instagram subscriptions, we have YouTube subscriptions.

So I went with the app company instead of Complex. My agreement with the company was that I wouldn’t start doing my interviews again or dropping them until we launched the app. We launched it with Lil Wayne as the face of it. So it was a big deal. I did learn a lot. But then when I started dropping my interviews, my boss at the time was pissed and he said that basically I need to go all in on my dreams and what I want to do are all in on this app. And I said, “All in on my dreams.” So I quit that job and then I was on unemployment. I was Ubering, I was Postmating everything. And I was doing that while I had my own set. It’s like it’s crazy. Yeah, I remember an artist came to my set and then right after I had to go do Postmates. But what was cool was I got so tired of it and was like, “Wait, what if I pitch Postmates on this thing where I deliver Postmates with artists?” They liked the idea. I had reached out to them. We ended up not doing that, but they ended up asking me, “Hey, would you be able to plug in Postmates with other artists and influencers? And we’ll pay you per code.” That ended up paying my bills. But it was just like, that was crazy. So that was 2016 and no one really knows about that because I’ve never talked about it.

At Twitch/Warner, you’re apart of teams. What is Jen like as a teammate?

I think I’m a great teammate. I think that anyone who has or is working with me would say that I never stick to just my roles and responsibilities. I’m always down to just help where it’s needed. I’m such a team player. That’s the only way you can be successful. You got to be willing to help other people out and be able to do the extra work to make it work.

Oh, so you have to learn patience?

Yes. I have to learn a lot of patience, but then I’ve also been very patient and I don’t know if it’s just… I don’t know. Like I said, there’s so many things that I have been asking myself and trying to figure out what’s going to make me happy. And that’s the journey I’m on right now. And it’s a mindfuck, for sure.

Whether in the industry or life, what advice would give when it comes to flexibility and compromise?

Oh man, with compromise, that’s a big thing right now too. With compromise, I did a lot of that, a lot of compromising and I think it’s like one and the same where it’s flexibility and compromising. It’s like if you don’t do too much of it, it’s like you’re not getting the same in return. That’s because then it’s like you’re just compromising your entire existence. That’s what it feels like. If you’re the one that’s compromising and you’re not getting that in return, then that’s going to ultimately destroy you, or maybe not destroy you but it’s going to make you lose yourself if you compromise too much. So don’t compromise too much but be willing to compromise whether that’s opportunity or relationship. But don’t compromise if you’re not comfortable with it. Only compromise if it’s still true to you.

When I think flexibility, I’m thinking of flexibility with people’s schedules within the music industry where it’s like you just got to be flexible with that. For me, if someone wants to do an interview at this day and this time, I’m making it work. I’m not going to be like, “Oh, actually, can you do it on a different day?” I’m not doing that. I’ve never done that where it’s just like I can’t. I’ve always been, when it came to an artist and an interview opportunity, I’ve always been flexible when it came to the artist’s schedule. Always.

Does Jen have an issue with taking her own advice?

Yes. I will give you the best advice in the world, but it’s so hard for me to take my own advice. I will say that I didn’t even let you finish the question. I was just like, yes. It’s hard. And that’s the thing, it’s even when I do give people advice, I don’t judge anybody. Any situation, anything that anyone confides in me in, I don’t judge it at all just because it’s like you can’t. There’s nothing to judge. But it’s like, yeah, I cannot take my own advice sometimes. If I could, I would be so much further in life. But it’s just like, it’s not even just taking your own advice, it’s being your number one fan, your number one motivator, and then it’s just having the discipline to be able to do that.

Does Jen Deleon ever suffer from survivor’s remorse?

Yeah, I’ll tell you this. If there’s anything that you think I don’t go through or don’t experience… Wait, I got dark again. Anything you think I don’t go through or experience, you’re wrong. I do for sure. I think one of the things that I always battled with is just constantly trying to make sure everybody around me is okay, but then also feeling like, “Wait, then I’m not okay because I care too much about everybody else being okay.” And then sometimes even within myself, I’m like, “Oh, is it because I took too much time essentially off? Am I in this mode of like, is it too late to be able to do everything I want it to do?”

And like I said in the beginning, I’m like, am I doing too much at once that it’s like if you put too much energy into too many things and you can’t really reach a hundred percent potential, if that makes sense? So I’m always constantly thinking, what do I have to do to be able to keep doing this? And just the constant of, “Am I doing the right thing? Am I focused on the right thing?” It sucks. But I wish there would be a way for God or whoever to just be this, just focus on this. But then it’s hard to just focus on one thing.

I definitely can say now, it’s like no one would believe it, but I literally don’t have friends. I’m so to myself where it’s like there are people where, you talk about friends from when you first started and it’s like, and they’re not around anymore and it’s in a sense that it’s sad, but then there’s also, when you look back at it, it’s like, were you really my friend or were you my friend because of what came with me in a sense? So I think you talked about that before when early in the interview, when you asked, when did you notice the switch up? And I actually did have something like that where it is sad that it’s like, wait, so is it, the more you go on in life and the more whether you call it success, accomplishments, whatever it is, that it does just get smaller and smaller and lonely and lonely. And I do now, I believe that where I’m like, there’s nobody around anymore. And it’s just like, it’s a very isolating thing. So that definitely sucks.

You’ve done media, radio, business advisory, motivational speaking, and so much more. Do you feel like you’ve found your “dream job” yet?

So my “dream job” was always to have my own show. When I first started, that’s what I’ve always wanted, that’s what I still want, but navigating through the industry, there were so many different aspects. I learned that it was like – I was too narrow-focused on … Ok so it’s like a gift and a curse, it was like okay I want my own show. But then when I learned different things like I learned how to book artists for festivals or just different activations. Like that was crazy where it was – and it was such great money cause it like, wait, this is pretty cool being able to do that – and just then paving into these different things, I realized there were more aspects to me that I didn’t even know existed only because I opened up that door of wanting to have my own show. I still want to have my own talk show. And I still – you know even though everything is like digital and stuff – I still want to be on TV. I know in one of my interviews with Snoop Dogg, he’s like, “Are you going to be the first female late-night talk show host?” I’m like, “I would f**kin’ love that.” Like it would be amazing, but I do still want to have my own talk show. But what I struggle with is – like I said before we even started this interview, it’s like there so many different aspects of me – that like, I feel like I should narrow it down. But like how? Cause it’s all me and I’m just trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t work, but it’s been like this long cycle of like, you know I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing, and then whatever it is supposed to be, it’ll be.

Is there even retirement for creatives? Because I feel like as long as you have a brain, you’re going to always think of new stuff.

Exactly. Yeah, there’s so much I want to talk about still and do. I honestly feel like I’m just getting started. I feel like this first 13 years was kind of all right, kind of experiments and see what do you actually want to do, learn these different things and now it’s like this next chapter is okay, now really put your all into a very specific things instead of trying everything. I feel like I did try everything, at this point within the industry and I know what makes me happy. I know what stresses me out. So I’m looking forward to that part of my journey.

Congratulations go out to Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandy “Pepa” Denton who are the latest celebs to get a star on Hollywood’s walk of fame.  On Tuesday, The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced that the MCs will receive their star in the Recording category, on November 4th, this honor marks the 2,739th star on the walk of fame.  According to Ana Martinez the Walk of Fame Producer, their star will be placed right next to another Queen of Hip Hop, Missy Elliot.  “We’re placing these ladies of Hip Hop royalty adjacent to Amoeba Music and right next to the Walk of Fame star of another Queen of Hip Hop, Missy Elliott!” Martinez says in a statement.  Missy showed all her love on Twitter with the caption that says “ What a Blessing to be beside Salt & Pepa who inspired me to Rap! My sisters for over 2 Decades! & they took a lot of Criticism coming in this game to make the female emcees after them walk through the door a lot easier Thank you S&P RESPECT.” 

The duo returns the sentiment to Missy on their official Twitter page saying “Our stars being beside each other makes it all the more special. Your sisterhood and friendship is such a blessing. Thank you @MissyElliott ”

Salt-N-Pepa has a career that spans over 37 years, getting their start as a group in 1985, and receiving countless awards including three No.1’s. On ‘Billboard’s’ Hot Rap Songs chart, five albums on the Billboard 200, and won the Grammy for best rap performance by a duo or group in 1995 — which made them the first women in rap to win a Grammy. Additionally, their hit “Push It” became the first rap song by a female act to hit the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, and it eventually climbed its way up to No. 19. The duo’s star will be located at 6213 Hollywood Boulevard adjacent to Amoeba Music, MC Lyte, and Roxanne Chante will appear as guest speakers of the event, and the entire ceremony will be streamed live on Friday (Nov. 4) at 11:30 a.m. on walkoffame.com

Entrepreneur/PR Mogul Marie Driven and Advocate/Artist Kristin Evans team up to launch a new organization, “We Fight Back Inc.”, to help combat Domestic Violence. The two survivors created the organization to help women and men in domestic violence get resources. The organization will provide information for shelters and self-defense classes in partnership with fitness trainers, where participants receive a pair of free boxing gloves. This idea was inspired by Driven’s healing journey when she decided to take boxing lessons. The ultimate goal for “We Fight Back Inc” is to raise money to build safe houses for victims and children.

     Marie “Driven” Theodore is a Haitian American entrepreneur and Public Relations Executive who started working for prominent music, fashion, and lifestyle companies in New York City. She is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of the multi-disciplinary communications firm Playbook MG. She manages a base of support and operations for clients from the mainstream to niche categories through strategic relationship building. Her roster of creative individuals and brands is impressive, and over the past twenty years, she’s helped countless rising stars and worked with some of the biggest names in the celebrity stratosphere. She also is an advocate for domestic violence, as she shared her story and created the Driven Against Domestic Violence Campaign. She has completed her brand of boxing gloves after taking boxing lessons to heal. Her work inspired many, including Kristin Evans, who reached out to her after her public assault.

    Kristin Evans is an advocate for domestic violence awareness, a massage therapist, and a mother of two. Her career in sports massage connected her with pro athletes around the country and gave her insight into the physical and mental state of individuals involved in those professions. After a viral video linking her to former NFL football player Zac Stacy and showing a violent altercation between the two, the outpouring of support and concern for Kristin and her family helped give her the strength to address the brutal assault publicly. She reached out to Marie “Driven” Theodore to help her as she became a domestic abuse survivor in the public eye who found her voice in helping others. She made statements to the press, appeared on news programs and talk shows, and served as a featured guest speaker. Kristin Evans is also an artist, and she curated an interactive exhibit called Say It Out Loud in Orlando. In doing so, Kristin raised awareness surrounding domestic violence and shed light on the support needed by victims of domestic abuse and their families.

Megan Thee Stallion announced she is taking a break after burglars ransacked her Los Angeles home Thursday night.

The Houston rapper was out of town when two thieves smashed a glass door at the back of the house and entered her master bedroom.

The two burglars ransacked her bedroom, stealing $400,000 in jewelry and electronics before leaving through the window.

The Houston native was in NYC rehearsing for her appearance on Saturday Night Live when the break-in occurred.

The 27-year-old took to social media Friday to announce she was taking a break after her appearance on Saturday Night Live on Oct. 15.

“Hotties im really sorry but after SNL I really gotta take a break. I’m so tired, physically and emotionally.”

In an earlier tweet, she wrote, “Material things can be replaced but I’m glad everyone is safe.

Jada Pinkett-Smith has been in the news all year and now she’s ready to share private moments about her life with Will Smith. The Matrix actress is writing a no-holds-barred memoir about her life and her highly-publicized marriage. Following the backlash from the Oscar moment with her husband and Chris Rock, Jada has had many fingers pointed in her direction. Despite the rumors and accusations, Jada’s team sent out a press release detailing the upcoming book described as ‘honest and gripping.’

Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed she will be writing a memoir that shares details about her difficult journey in Hollywood and her “complicated marriage” to Will Smith.

On Oct. 6, Dey Street Books — which is owned by HarperCollins Publishers — announced that Pinkett Smith’s book will arrive in the fall of 2023.

The untitled memoir was described as “honest and gripping” in the press release.

“At the heart of this powerful book are two unexpected love stories, one being Jada’s complicated marriage to Will Smith, the other being the one with herself,” the release said.

According to the press release, the “Red Table Talk” host will open up about her “rollercoaster ride from the depths of suicidal depression to the heights of personal rediscovery and the celebration of authentic feminine power” in her memoir as well as her close friendship with legendary rapper 2Pac.

The press release also mentioned a “crisis” Pinkett Smith experienced at the age of 40 that caused her to reevaluate her life.

Rapper Latto, formerly Miss Mulatto, the winner of Jermaine Dupri’s Lifetime reality series The Rap Game, is receiving backlash on social media. The 23-year-old declined to sign a record label with Dupri but has achieved enormous success following the show.
Latto is now in hot water for explaining her “sexually liberated” lifestyle to a 9-year-old fashion reporter.

Latto, made the comments in a NYFW interview with 9-year-old Taylen Biggs who was interviewing celebrities for Harper’s Baazar magazine.

“How would you describe your personal style?” the adorable child asked the 23-year-old “Big Energy” rapper.

“I think I’m authentic. I think I give modern, sexually liberated woman. You’ll learn about that later,” Latto told the minor.

Social media collectively agreed that it was the wrong message for a grown up to give a 9-year-old girl.

One Twitter user wrote, “Love Latto but this wouldn’t have been my answer for a little girl.”

Another person wrote:

“This was very inappropriate. An ‘I’m a very authentic and free-spirited person’ would’ve sufficed for a child that age. People no longer understand that there’s a time and place for everything.”

Azealia Banks is back in the news making claims about Nicki Minaj’s finances. Banks says that Minaj is attempting to mess up one of her business deals, and that she is “broke” and allegedly pays blogs to make other rappers’ lives difficult.

On Friday, Azalea posted several Instagram Stories where she alleged that the 39-year-old rapper had paid the two bartenders that had sued Cardi B and she also accused her of paying Tasha K to go after Cardi while claiming that she was broke and owed many people.

“Imagine how pissed off @nickiminaj is to have paid 100k+ for them girls lawyers, put them in a video with weirdo tekashi for them to only get $5,000 a pop. Nicki wanted cardi to get hit with a felony and have her passport relinquished so she could no longer travel outside of the country. Imagine the salt on her rim when she pays Tasha k to lie and cardi wins a 4m reward in court. Imagine owing Rushka Bergman money for styling you. Imagine getting told no by @monotofficial then going out to purchase it,” Azalea said.

Azealia Banks also alleged that Nicki Minaj put her hairdresser, presumably Arrogant Tae, on retainer but then asked him to work for free.

“Imagine being so jealous that you put your hairdresser on retainer, telling him he can no longer work with longtime friends, only to turn around and ask him to work for free because ur money is f**ked up an all the barbs and blogs you pay to try and make female rappers lives difficult,” she said.

“Nicki Minaj is Broke like, Broke Broke. Scamming production companies for private jets and rented houses kind of broke,” Banks alleged.

Banks also claimed that Minaj was turned down for other business ventures which allegedly refused to work for her.

“Gossip blogs and this extremely unentertaining Chickenhead media personality doesn’t work. It’s horrible acting sis. Stop yelling into your phone like you have no sense…Queen radio dropped from Apple, you got rejected by Netflix and HBO Max…then tried to give @bronstudios an ultimatum about working with me when chances are they’re probably not even going to release your documentary after how nasty you were to them and how disgusting they all think you are,” Banks wrote.

Azealia Banks also continued with her telling the rapper to go to rehab and claimed that she insinuated that the rapper was addicted to opioids. “you can’t travel to certain countries with those substances. And we don’t wanna see you have a seizure trying to quit opioids without medical assistance.”

Paige Hurd welcomed in three decades of life with a Cinderella-esque birthday bash in Los Angles last weekend. Hurd was joined by a number of family, friends, colleagues and collaborators for her Enchanted-themed soirée including, Christian “King” Combs, Quincy Brown, Michael Jai and Gillian White, her God-mother, Tashera Simmons and more.

“I had family flying in from all over and same with my friends,.” Hurd said. “We danced, we sang, we drank a lil and it was exactly what I wanted. I am blessed. I’m excited for my dirty thirties!”

Planned and executed by The Meadia Agency, Cairos Custom Events NMA PR and CMA Entertainment, she was greeted with a video compilation of her life that included a heartfelt video message from friends and collaborators Lorenz Tate, Meagan Good and Ryan Destiny. Hurd was sure to honor her late Godfather, DMX with a tribute.

“It was really important for me to include him because I just wish he was here on such a milestone and because I haven’t even accepted the fact that he’s gone,” she told ESSENCE. “He’s my godfather and I’ll always love him and include him in things that are important to me for the rest of my life.”

The Power Book II actress also celebrated over 20 years within the film and television industry, where she made her debut in her childhood. Her big screen debut came in the 2003 film, Cradle To The Grave, which starred DMX.

As she enters into her next decade, she is ready to embrace it.

“People say as you get older life gets better and I think that’s what I am looking forward to in this next chapter. Growing and experiencing more of life. Never going back to my twenties. I heard the 30’s is where it’s ATTT! Adulting is no joke though lol.”

Former The Real co-host Loni Love shades her former bosses for never acknowledging her birthday.

The “Soul Plane” actress turned 51 on July 14, and her new co-host of “E! Daily Pop,” Justin Sylvester, and the day’s guest co-host, “Full House” actress Jodie Sweeten, surprised her with a trombone-and-trumpet “Happy Birthday” performance by The Potash Twins, as well as a sweet birthday message from former co-host Tamera Mowery.

Loni Love fired back at a fan after the reality TV host claimed her former hosting job The Real never gave her a solo birthday surprise celebration.

Although Love showed appreciation for the sweet gesture from E!, fans couldn’t help but point out her shade directed at the Daytime Emmy-winning talk show. 

One fan in particular uploaded a throwback clip from 2016 underneath Love’s tweet that showed Love being given a surprise birthday celebration with her July birthday twin Tamera. However Love stated the clip only validated her point. 

She responded, “Like I said, eight seasons boo.. Never got one, that was a combo.. Oop.”

TheShadeRoom reposted Loni’s message onto their Instagram page, and fans didn’t understand the reasoning behind the dig. 

“There was no need for the shade, seeming a little bitter.”

 McDonald’s Future 22 is an integrated, creative campaign, launched during Black History Month, that highlights 22 young, Black visionaries who are creating meaningful change in communities across the country.

During the 2022 Essence Festival of Culture, McDonald’s furthered its commitment to serving up bright futures by surprising 22 young, Black leaders with $10,000 each — totaling to $220,000 — to help them achieve their community-driven goals, with the help of award-winning actress, singer and entertainer and campaign spokesperson, Keke Palmer.   

“It’s an honor to join McDonald’s to recognize and celebrate these awesome leaders, while also supporting their work and mission,” said Keke. “They are creating bright futures for themselves and the next generation – and, really, all of us – and the excitement on their faces during the McDonald’s surprise gave me joy.”  

During the celebratory event held at Essence Fest last weekend in New Orleans, which McDonald’s sponsored for the 22^nd year, Keke and Marissa Fisher, a second-generation McDonald’s Owner/Operator in New Orleans, participated in a fireside chat moderated by McDonald’s Senior Director of Cultural Engagement, Elizabeth Campbell, to inspire Future 22 leaders and provide tips on staying true to one’s mission, finding balance while changing the world and paving the way for others, among other topics.   

“This year’s Essence Fest theme was Black Joy, and we couldn’t wait to celebrate all 22 leaders and bring them to New Orleans, in honor of their accomplishments,” said Campbell. “We certainly could’ve surprised them virtually but making them a part of our Essence Fest moment meant unlocking the additional community of supporters who are McDonald’s Owner/Operators and the Essence Fest family, to further celebrate them and demonstrate our belief in their work. Regina King made a stunning return to the red carpet on Sunday, attending the Filming Italy Festival in Santa Margherita di Pula, Italy. The glamorous appearance is King’s first public outing since her only son Ian Alexander Jr. died in January by suicide just days ahead of his 26th birthday.

 The One Night in Miami director has remained private for most of this year, skipping the red carpet for the 2022 Met Gala, where she served as co-chair. “Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian,” King said in a statement at the time. “He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others. Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time. Thank you.” 

King, 51, graced the red carpet wearing a sleeveless white dress, completing the look with a pair of diamond hoop earrings, a Louis Vuitton purse, and braids tied up in a long ponytail highlighted with orange and blond accents. The Watchmen actress received love from her fans who wished her well on Twitter who were happy to see her return.

Shaunie O’Neal, the ex-wife of Shaquille O’Neal married her fiancé Pastor Keion Henderson at a destination ceremony in Anguilla on Saturday.

The couple got engaged in November 2021 after dating for 2 years.

The wedding was attended by 200 guests, including Shaunie’s three sons, Myles, 25, Shareef, 22, and Shaqir, 19. The boys walked their mom down the aisle on a golf course at the Aurora resort. Shaunie’s two daughters, Amirah, 20, and Me’arah, 16, also attended.

Shaunie Henderson, 47, exclusively told PEOPLE she leaned heavily on her sons for emotional support.

“I just lost my dad in February. So, I really struggled with how I was going to get down the aisle. Losing my dad in the midst of planning this wedding was a lot, so my sons handed me off.”

I would cry but crying never solved my problems. This shit hurt people telling me “this what come with it” “more money more problems” they ain’t lying. I’m grateful for my situation so so grateful but I’m also tired and I’m hurting and I’m so drained to the point I don’t even wanna get out my bed I been arguing with people for weeks straight this shit got me physically sick. Last night Keyshia Cole went live on Instagram to talk to her fans about her ill fated relationship with NFL free agent Antonio Brown. The Grammy-nominated artist took to Instagram to discuss her relationship with the free-agent wide receiver, days after he shared a video on Instagram speculated to be of Cole showing off a lower back tattoo of his initials.

After recently sharing her new ‘AB’ tattoo on her lower back. Cole took issue with the caption of Brown’s video, which read: “You Ain’t Pimpin Until You Hit An RnB Diva. #FreeAgent #KeepPimpin.”

“It was a little harsh,” Cole said in an Instagram Live with celebrity stylist EJ King. “Maybe he doesn’t know that it was a little harsh for him to say that. Even me speaking to him, he was like, ‘Do you want me to change the caption?’ And I was like no, I don’t want you to change the caption.”

King called the caption “a little insensitive,” adding that if Cole told Brown the latter, “You’ll start to resent him if he’s not in a place of receiving what you’re trying [to say].”
