Today, Kim posted a video to her 352 million followers on Instagram, revealing she will be joining the next season of American Horror Story on FX. The brief trailer showed Kim Kardashian’s name alongside actress and TikTok star Emma Roberts, who also boasts a huge online presence, including 19.7 million followers on Instagram.

The teaser included a creepy version of “Rock-a-bye, Baby,” at the end revealing a voice that whispers, “Emma and Kim are delicate.”

While Kim has most famously been known for her role on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which recently celebrated its 20th season, now, it looks like she’s diving head first into scripted television. 

Ryan Murphy, writer and director of American Horror Story, states, “Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family. Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”

Halley Fieffer has been appointed the sole showrunner for this chapter of AHS. Allegedly, Murphy was impressed by Kim’s exciting hosting gig on Saturday Night Live back in 2021 and reached out last summer to have her join AHS.

The Upshaws are officially set for Part 4. The return of the series starring Mike Epps, Kim Fields, and Wanda Sykes is set to hit Netflix on Thursday, August 17.

The series synopsis reads:

Bennie Upshaw (Mike Epps), the head of a Black working class family in Indianapolis, is a charming, well-intentioned mechanic and lifelong mess just trying his best to step up and care for his family — wife Regina (Kim Fields), their two young daughters (Khali Spraggins, Journey Christine) and firstborn son (Jermelle Simon), the teenage son (Diamond Lyons) he fathered with another woman (Gabrielle Dennis) — and tolerate his sardonic sister-in-law (Wanda Sykes), all without a blueprint for success. But the Upshaws are determined to make it work, and make it to the next level, together. In this upcoming part, the Upshaws continue to ride life’s ups and downs, including new jobs, bigger dreams, health struggles and some major life surprises but still hanging on with the love that comes with family.

The Upshaws also stars Diamond Lyons (Kelvin Upshaw), Khali Daniya-Renee Spraggins (Aaliyah Upshaw), Jermelle Simon (Bernard Upshaw), Gabrielle Dennis (Tasha Lewis), Journey Christine (Maya Upshaw).

Game of Thrones series are continuing to roll out. According to Variety, HBO is hunting a new series that would detail Aegon I Targaryen’s Westeros conquest.

Details of the forthcoming series are pretty slim as the show is in the very early stages and could add in a feature film that would introduce the new series.

The story would follow how Aegon and his sister-wives Visenya and Raeyns conquered six of the seven kingdoms, 300 years prior to the events of the original Game of Thrones series.

HBO did not offer a comment on the forthcoming series.

In Ghost Season 2, Reggie “Redman” Noble portrayed the character Theo, but social media was wondering why the MC has been replaced on the show?

Fans were shocked to see Theo return in season 3, portrayed by another actor. Jordan Mahome has taken over as Davis’ older brother. The Get Down actor does an amazing job in the role. However, fans were shocked.

“Come on #Power y’all really thought y’all could switch out Redman character and we wouldn’t notice as black viewers,” one fan said on Twitter.

Neither showrunner Brett Mahoney, who took over for Courtney Kemp, nor executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has released a statement about Redman’s absence. However, it’s likely that this was a matter of scheduling conflicts.

Still, fans are eager to see how things with Theo and Davis play out, especially since Saxe (Shane Johnson) now knows the truth about his business partner’s connection to Theo.

It was originally the idea of series creator Courtney A. Kemp to bring in Redman to portray Method Man’s brother. The latter immediately liked the idea and gave his approval. After all, he and Redman have worked on multiple projects together in the past. “It’s always dope to work with somebody you’ve worked with over the years, but just not somebody that you’ve always worked with, but someone that you trust as far as stage performances and things like that,” Method Man explained in an interview with Vibe. “So anytime you put Redman and Method Man on-screen together, not only are you going to get chemistry, you going to get synergy, as well as professionalism.”

Film & Television executive James Shin serves as the executive producer for FX’s hit series DAVE. 

The series, which has become the network’s most-watched comedy series to date, follows the imagined, but eccentric day-to-day life of viral rapper Lil Dicky, also know as DAVE. 

Season 2 ended with DAVE’s VMA performance debut and the release of his debut album, despite its coinciding release date with Ariana Grande. While both are milestones for DAVE, Grande’s same-day release frustrates DAVE. He is later reminded of his success by his close friend and hype-man GaTa. 

According to executive producer James Shin, Season 3 will pick up exactly “where we left off” — on tour. 

“Dave is at a level now where he has achieved some success, but has broken up with his ex-girlfriend,” says Shin. “Now he’s in a reclamation process of what is important to him as he is in a constant pursuit of love. We’ll see that journey this season, while he is on tour.” 

Shin’s elusive role as EP is rooted in service. From facilitating the biggest names in entertainment for cameos, to putting out fires, a dull moment is few and far between. 

“It’s about letting Dave and the writers run rampant with their ideas because there is an inherent trust there,” says Shin. 

Dave has been nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award and an Art Directors Guild Awards. While the nods speak for itself , accolades are no primary concern for Shine. Instead, the most rewarding aspect lies within a show’s impact on the public. 

“Just to even hear a few fans say how much an episode impacted them is rewarding,” Shin says. 

With a mission to involve SB Projects with film and television projects that are organically diverse, Shin is adamant in executing his objective. Dave is one prime example.

After Wednesday’s (Mar. 30) episode, Snowfall only has three episodes left, but that doesn’t mean the end of the Los Angeles world we have come to know and love.

According to Deadline, a spinoff series of Snowfall surrounding the current character Wanda, ported by Gail Bean, is in the early stages of development.

The story would follow the original story in Los Angeles, continuing on into the 1990s with the rise of the gangster rap era and rivalries of Bloods and Crips. The series would have Wanda as the connection between the two series and would spawn new main characters. Any carryovers from the current series are unknown.

The show would have Malcolm Spellman as the pilot pen and executive producer. Returning executive producers would be Snowfall co-creator and showrunner Dave Andron, Trevor Engelson, Michael London, and Tommy Schlamme. John Singleton would posthumously receive credit, along with Eric Amadio and Evan Silverberg.

One of the most popular series to watch right now is The Night Agent. The uber-popular Netflix series has been renewed for season 2 at Netflix.

According to Variety, The Night Agent has already logged 168.71 million hours viewed, pushing the series up the streamer’s top 10 charts.

Families have gathered for six years to watch The Saints grow their drug empire every Wednesday evening. What started as a family business quickly became a civil war, with Jerome and Franklin standing on both ends of the gun in season seven. A bullet wounded Jerome in the stomach after he swooned in Kane’s warehouse like a knight in shining armor. The OG’s passing left a void in Franklin and Louie’s hearts, but the former business partners are pointing fingers at each other. 

Twitter labeled Louie the show’s villain, but Angela Lewis doesn’t think her character did anything wrong. Lewis said, “I think Louie is the villain because she is not on Franklin’s side. But I don’t think Louie has done anything wrong, even with her going to Teddy. You know, people say she went behind his back. I look at it as she went over his head, and I think that’s why he’s mad. Because she went over his head and she did what was best for her. Let me remind everybody that this didn’t happen until after she was shot and almost killed because of something Franklin did.” 

Despite Louie and Franklin’s fractured relationship, Lewis’ character reflects the true story of the strong, no-nonsense women who were power players during the crack epidemic. Lewis admits to being “scared of everything” in real life. But her character gives her a strength she never knew she had. Lewis said, “[Louie] taught me to open my mouth and say what I want to say, what I don’t want to say, what I like, and what I don’t like, to be able to articulate my vision, even if the vision isn’t fully clear to myself.”

Angela Lewis virtually sat down with us ahead of the premiere of episode seven to discuss the impact her “Snowfall” character had on her life, John Singleton’s influence, and her next chapter.

The women have been carrying the final season on their backs and it’s a true reflection of the relationship dynamic between black men and women, particularly in low-income neighborhoods. Can you speak on the impact playing Louie had on your life and career?

What I learned about playing Louie is that you can’t play her from a place of fear, right? And, and I think historically in my life I’m afraid of everything. From bees to like, what if I turned the wrong way to like, oh, what if the ink pen dries out before I finish this? Whatever it is. Like I’m scared of everything. Louie put me in a position to be trying new things. From holding a gun to, you know, being gangster and how to do that and make sure I do it and look good, look cool, look like I know what I’m doing and all these things, right? In spite of that, if I am doing it from a place of fear, from a place of being back on my heels, it doesn’t work. 

Episode six was so intense! One highlight for me was that emotional scene between Jerome and Louie when she admitted that her ambition caused the war between him and his nephew. Many people on Twitter feel like Louie is the show’s villain. How do you feel about that?

I did a lot of work to be able to be deep in that space: In the space of like fear, but courageousness. In the space of feeling the pain. I think this is probably the most extreme situation she’s ever been in, but Louie is not a stranger to abuse. She’s not a stranger to not knowing if she’s gonna make it through a given situation, you know? And so I had to tap into that. What does that look like for her? What does it also look like? You know, Louie is a survivor. Someone asked me on online, ‘How come she didn’t just give up Buckley?’ And, you know, it wasn’t about Buckley. It was about, if I give, if I give him up, I’m dead right now. Louie doesn’t give up even when things look grim and looks like there’s no way out. I think she’s gonna stall it as long as she can, you know? Maybe she can find an escape. Maybe somebody, ie. Jerome will come looking for her. I think there’s always that little glimmer of hope for Louie that I’m gonna get out of this. How can I get out of this? So there was a lot of that. There was a lot of anger that this is happening to her. Anger that she knows Franklin is the one who gave her up and then when he walks in the door, she absolutely knows that. 

And so there’s anger towards the, you know, him for that. Um, just, it is a lot, you know, she, right before she, this happened to her, she and Jerome were on this precipice of, are we gonna make it?

Despite take accountability privately, Louie blames Franklin for EVERYTHING and wants revenge. I was a bit hopeful for reconciliation at the end of episode seven when Louie asked why’d he return for her, but it’s clear that she plans to help Teddy take Franklin out. Is there any possibility that you guys will bury the hatchet before someone gets killed?

I think Louie is the villain because she is not on Franklin’s side, but I don’t think Louie has done anything wrong, even with her going to Teddy. And, you know, people say she went behind his back. I look at it as she went over his head, and I think that’s why he’s mad. Because she went over his head and she did what was best for her. Now, let me remind everybody that this didn’t happen until after she was shot and almost killed because of something Franklin did. Up until that point, she had been undervalued. Louie has been his biggest asset, his biggest help, his biggest support. Every time she was asking for a pay cut on the price of the bricks he was like, “No.” She’s like, well, let me talk to Teddy to talk him down, “No.” You know, and not only that, but like screaming on her, so she wasn’t being heard. She wasn’t being seen. Now I’m almost dead cause of you, let me do my own thing. So I think her admission to Jerome about her ambition wasn’t an admission to this is my fault. The family is torn apart, the family is messed up. Her admission was, I have learned that I have value.

Thinking about the ending of “Snowfall” makes me emotional because the show is also one of John Singleton’s final contributions to the culture. What is a fond memory you share with him?

I would say the being in my power was my biggest lesson from him. Something that I’ll carry with me forever at work and at home, and as I’m navigating this crazy, crazy world. I just remember I had a birthday party and I invited everybody and he came and that meant a lot to me. I was like, “Wow, He showed up for me.” He didn’t have to do that. He’s a very, very busy man, and he came out for me. That really meant a lot. 

I want to backtrack to how you landed the role because according to reports, John Singleton had a Louie in mind. Reports claim Lauren London was handpicked to play Aunt Louie, but everything plays out the way it’s supposed to. How’d you ultimately get the job?

The pilot of “Snowfall” was shot twice. I auditioned for Snowfall in like 2016 or something like that. But I didn’t get it. So, you know, as actors, we audition for a lot of stuff and don’t get it, and then you keep it moving. So then a year later, when they came back across my desk, it was the same scene. You know, the, the scene where Louie is fighting off the porch and taking the earrings off. I was like, ‘I know I auditioned for this already.’ This is because you don’t forget a scene like this. My reps were like, well, that’s okay, just audition again. I was like, ‘Okay.’ So I auditioned and I got a callback, and then I got another call back, and then I eventually booked the role. I found out like a week later that I had booked the role. I had not heard of such a thing as in Hollywood. Oftentimes they shoot a pilot and for whatever reason it doesn’t work. It doesn’t go. So they scrap all the things and start building it again, and then they try again. So that’s what happened with Snowfall. They shot the pilot, it didn’t work, and then they just kind of dismantled it, put it back together, tried again, and then, and that was our pilot. Then it went and it went for six years. So I feel extremely fortunate, and you’re right. Things happen the way they’re supposed to happen, and I believe what’s yours is yours and nothing can stop that. I had no idea Snowfall was mine and Louie was mine, but here we are. . 

Were there any roles you previously auditioned for that you didn’t get and it turned out to be a huge role?

I can’t think of one in particular. But I had an odd experience: I went to the movies and I was watching The Wrestler and I was sitting there and I knew the scene. Like I knew what was about to happen. I kind of knew the lines. I was like, ‘Have I seen this movie before? No, I haven’t seen it.’ Then it occurred to me like two weeks later, I auditioned for that movie, and The Wrestler is like one of my favorites. I auditioned for all kinds of stuff: Big stuff, little stuff, the stuff you don’t think is gonna go, or you don’t think it’s gonna be a big deal, and then it is. Or you turn down something and you’re like, ‘Ah!’ I feel like with every decision I make, I always am considering everything: Do I like the project? Is it gonna be good money? Is it gonna be good timing for me and my family. There are so many things to consider. So if I say no or if I don’t get something, you know, well, if I don’t get it, then, you know, it wasn’t for me. It was for this person to enjoy this success and God bless ’em. And I have to know that my time is coming and it’s my time. My thing is my thing. What’s for me is for me, and if I say no to something and it blows up, then I have to know, well, I said no for a reason and be okay with it. Because if I’m walking around mad because I missed out on this thing, it’s like, well, I’m gonna just be mad and sad for the rest of my life. You gotta feel good about your decisions and feel good about knowing that you’re supported by God, by the universe. Whatever your thing is, you’re supported. And so there’s no need to worry, there’s no need to get upset, there’s no need to be feeling envious and all those things. Like what’s for you? It’s for you. 

What’s next for Angela once Snowfall ends and Louie’s chapter is closed?

Well, Angela’s gonna have this baby in the mid-Summer. So I’m just focusing on that right now. Focusing on finishing out “Snowfall” and bringing this new life to the world and being ready for that. And then, you know, we’ll see.

Snoop Dogg has proven time and time again that he can do it all. The 51-year-old has his eyes set on making a cameo on Coronation Street. Coronation Street is a United Kingdom soap opera that has been running since the 1960s. It is the world’s longest-running TV soap opera.

The “Gin & Juice” rapper spoke with The Sun about his love for the show. “Coronation Street, I love it. If they call me, I’ll do it. I’ll play whenever they need,” Snoop said.

He went on to say he enjoys everything about the show.

“I love the cinematography, acting, the storylines, and just the reality.”

One actress on the show would undoubtedly love to have him on board. Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy Barlow in the soap, tells ITV studios how she feels about a Snoop Dogg cameo. “We really want that like, imagine. Get him in the Barlow’s or the Rovers,” she said.

Snoop has always loved the UK culture and the royal family. While accused of murder in 1993, the Long Beach rapper was banned from touring in the UK. Fortunately, Queen Elizabeth’s grandchildren were big fans of Snoop and allowed him to perform there. She felt that he did nothing wrong in Britain. Snoop Dogg has always remembered this and even offered to perform at King Charles III’s coronation.

A-list celebrities such as Elton John, Adele, Harry Styles, and the Spice Girls have all been asked to perform at the prestigious event. Unfortunately, all artists were busy, so Snoop offered to step in.

The “Nuthin’ But A “G” Thang” rapper has also done a deal with London-based company, Roobet.  Roobet is a crypto casino they have partnered with Snoop Dogg for a new game titled, Hotbox.

R&B/Pop singer Jason Derulo is keeping busy these days.  He now has a new talent show called Project Icon.  Formed with his business partner, Frank Harris, the “Wiggle” singer wanted the talent show to be more relatable to the music industry. 

Unlike other talent-seeking shows, Project Icon focuses on helping the contestants make music that performs well on social media. They also teach the artists how to perfect their brands.

The ten contestants will also be critiqued on their interview skills and relatability.  The winner of Project Icon will record a song with Derulo and perform at Radio 1’s Big Weekend.  The winner will also be signed to Derulo’s label, Future History.

Based in the UK, Project Icon will air six episodes starting on March 26th on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.  The contestants are all from the UK as they specialize in different genres such as country, hip hop, rock, and R&B.  Some of the artists already have a fan base, and some are unknown. They will be judged by Becky Hill, Harris, and Derulo himself.

Social media, mainly TikTok, is the reason for this show.  The “Whatcha Say” singer has built a following on TikTok, amassing over 50 million followers.  The popular social platform has helped further his career. It also proves that the music industry has changed and is more than just about music.

According to a recent report from TMZ, Love And Hip Hop: New York regular Brittney Taylor has been arrested for domestic assault for allegedly hitting the father of her child with a baseball bat.

According to police, Taylor was involved in a physical altercation with Afeez, the father of her two children. The reality star was arrested and charged after a warrant was issued for her arrest.

According to a source close to the couple, the squabble between the former couple started when Afeez flew into NYC to see his children but kept away from Taylor due to some issues from their past. When Afeez and his mother went to leave Taylor’s residence with the children, she said something to Afeez, which he ignored, sending her into a rage.

In the criminal complaint obtained by TMZ, Afeez told police that Taylor punched him in the face in front of the children, but even as he left the residence, she grabbed a bat and hit him, leaving Afeez with a deep, bleeding gash.

Afeez went to the hospital with a cut above his eye, which required stitches, while Taylor was charged with two counts of assault, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon.

According to a report from TMZ, former Death Row Records CEO Marion “Suge” Knight and his brother Brian Brown are joining forces for. television project that is slated to begin shooting this summer.

It is being reported that the series will be similar to 50 Cent’s BMF series, with plot points about Suge’s early life before he began to terrorize the Hip Hop industry.

Knight is currently serving a 28-year sentence for taking Terry Carter’s life in 2015, but has been taking his time in handpicking the actors, especially when it comes to the role of Tupac Shakur, according to a source close to Suge. The source claims that Suge is looking for acting skills over resemblance for whoever plays Shakur, but contends that they must have his style and mannerisms.

Knight has yet to speak on the production detailing his life, but you can bet that when his team gets the green light, he will be “all up in the videos” this time around!

Over the weekend, music and television mogul 50 Cent took to Instagram to speak candidly about the television industry and even threatened to expose the behind the scenes nuances of TV via FOX5NY’s long time urban news anchor Lisa Evers.

Without mentioning Evers by name, Fif said, “This lady from Fox 5 News called asking if I would speak to her about my experience in television. production. I said Like real behind the scenes? If she does this the TV is going to go black.”

Evers herself jumped in the comments to respond, saying, “Whaaaat ???!!! This lady is @lisaevers #fox5ny – same one who did your very first TV interview in 2003 ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’ – same one who did a bunch of other interviews throughout your incredible career …. why you acting brand new? OK! reports:

Wendy Williams reportedly spilled to friends that “The Wendy Experience Podcast” has been canceled following months of hyping up the long-awaited project.

The ailing former television host first announced the podcast last July and even dropped merchandise online for the then-upcoming show.

She followed up the announcement in November 2022 by insisting the podcast would debut within the “next few weeks.” However, as of now, her website’s link to the section that previously detailed the podcast no longer works.

“It’s strange, because she is saying there is no podcast, but is also telling people she’s going to return to TV,” a source dished on Williams’ increasingly bizarre behavior concerning her stalled career. “It’s hard to figure out what is based in reality.”

About two years ago, a former drug lord by the name of Cory “Ghost” Holland Sr filed a lawsuit against 50 Cent and producer Courtney, claiming that the Starz Power series was made about his life story, and now it’s being reported that 50 is now facing mediation in that lawsuit.

50’s attorneys allege that the one-year statute of limitation is over, which weakens Holland’s lawsuit. Still, Holland, who’s self-represented, says he mailed a copy of his CD to Kemp’s father in 2007, which details his life as a drug dealer who turned into a drug lord. Court docs also claim that Fif came to Holland’s house twice in 2021 to try to confront him about the lawsuit.

Mediation in the lawsuit is set to begin on May 9.

Speaking at an SXSW panel, Nabers answered, “of course,” when asked had Queen Bey saw it. She also told the SXSW crowd that she had no more than she could state about it.

The striking show will sure get stan’s circles going, but Nabers says she and Glover weren’t attempting to send a message.

“It think it just exists in the world,” Nabers said, according to Variety. “And people can interpret it the way that they want to. We hope it inspires people in some way to create weird punk shit, or to talk to other people about the weird punk thing they just saw.”

Don’t think you’re going to run up on Jimmy Kimmel on the Oscars stage this Sunday. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, he said he would “beat the shit” out of someone.

“If somebody comes up on the stage and slaps me? Well, I size them up, and, if I’m bigger than they are, I beat the shit out of them on television. And if it’s the Rock, I run,” Kimmel said.

Kimmel’s playful comments after the Oscars revealed they would have a “crisis team,” in an effort to avoid the issues of last year.

Of that concept, Kimmel says, “I wish I knew. I’ve not been involved in that. I guess I’m the last thing they’re worried about,” he said about what it might entail, adding that he should “at least know what was discussed.”

In an interview with TIME magazine, Bill Kramer, Academy of Motion Picture Arts CEO, was asked what measures had been put in place for this year’s Academy Awards to ensure that no unexpected situations arise. He said a good host, such as Jimmy Kimmel, who is hosting this year, is good because they are used to dealing with live TV and can navigate unexpected situations. He also talked about the formation of the crisis team.

“But we have a whole crisis team, something we’ve never had before, and many plans in place. We’ve run many scenarios. So it is our hope that we will be prepared for anything that we may not anticipate right now but that we’re planning for just in case it does happen.

Because of last year, we’ve opened our minds to the many things that can happen at the Oscars. But these crisis plans—the crisis communication teams and structures we have in place—allow us to say this is the group that we have to gather very quickly. This is how we all come together. This is the spokesperson. This will be the statement. And obviously depending on the specifics of the crisis, and let’s hope something doesn’t happen and we never have to use these, but we already have frameworks in place that we can modify.”

Muhammad Ali will be the subject of an eight-part event series that is headed to Peacock. According to Variety, the series is led by Regé-Jean Page, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Willmott.

The scripted drama series, Excellence: 8 Fights, is based on the biography, Ali: A Life, written by Jonathan Eig. Executive producers on the project include Page, Freeman, Willmott, Lori McCreary from Revelations Entertainment, and Emily Brown. Along with CBS Studios and UCP, Eig will work as a producer.

The show’s official synopsis reads:

Excellence: 8 Fights will chronicle eight distinct and defining moments in the iconic life of Muhammad Ali. Each episode will be framed by one fight from Ali’s life, but the essence of the episode, what it’s really about, is the internal fight – the drama outside the ring – where we will explore the struggle going on in the heart and mind of one of the most consequential and controversial figures of the 20th century.

Nick Cannon trolled the Internet to believe he had another baby on the way. Instead, it’s a TV show, kind of. Cannon announced Who’s Having My Baby With Nick Cannon, a new game show where Kevin Hart is the host.

Dubbed “The Mother of all Game Shows,” the show seems to have a run of contestants that wants to have Nick Cannon’s baby. But it’s not that simple, Variety notes the clip floating online is a sketch for a bigger project.

The bigger project may be Hart’s E! game show, Celebrity Game Face, which is set to return on April 6 and pair celebrities against each other in challenges.

Meanwhile, Cannon’s The Future Superstar Tour was launched at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday, February 25, in collaboration with Live Nation, the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC), and Nick Cannon. Amber Grimes, Lydia Asrat, Sujit Kundu, Datwon Thomas, and L.A. Reid were on a panel of music industry professionals that discussed with Nick Cannon what it takes to break into the business and become a superstar.

A star-studded lineup of up-and-coming musicians, including Zoe Osama, winner of the BMAC x Ncredible Future Superstar grant and the opening act for the Los Angeles performance, performed after the conversation.

Osama is the first of 24 Future Superstar award recipients to be named during the tour. He or she will get a $5,000 cash prize, professional mentoring, and a chance to take part in a local performance. 24 musicians will receive $5,000 awards from BMAC and Ncredible in a collaboration with Live Nation. Together with the grants, BMAC and Ncredible are working together to host an educational panel with music executives at the start of each event to impart knowledge and respond to queries from the public about how to realize their full potential.

The Future Superstar Tour will continue throughout March and into April before coming to an end on April 8 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Big Boss Vette, 24KGOLDN, Samba, Pop Money, and many other artists are headlining the tour, and the Superstar seminars are held before each performance.

Michael Jackson’s nephew, Taj Jackson called Rock a bully for his extremely false joke.

Taj took to Twitter to call Chris Rock a “bully” and thanked Will Smith for slapping him at the 2022 Oscars.

“Chris Rock has used my family as punching bags for his entire career.Yet I am supposed to feel bad for him getting slapped and humiliated on the Oscars”, Jackson wrote.
Taj who was an original group member in the group 3T, proceeded to make a list of three things he had to say to Chris Rock: “After seeing a new clip of him attacking my dead uncle in the first minutes of his ‘Retaliation-I’m still relevant’ special, I have 3 things to say.”

Actor/Comedian Mike Epps could be facing serious legal trouble. Authorities in his home state say they found a loaded gun in one of his bags at Indianapolis International Airport.

According to legal docs, obtained by TMZ, police responded to a firearms investigation Sunday at the Indianapolis Airport … with cops being told TSA found the gun while Mike was going through the checkpoint

The docs say the comedian mentioned being in town for a show, and forgot the piece was in his bag. Upon investigation, police say they found a .38 Special Airweight with 4 rounds loaded, but none in the chamber.

The gun and ammo were all taken as evidence.

According to a report from AllHipHop, music and television mogul 50 Cent is accused of “pulling up” on Corey “Ghost” Holland Sr., who is suing the Power executive producer for allegedly basing the NYC-based street saga on his life.

Holland says in the lawsuit that Fif came to his place of residence twice in 2021 and that 50 was retaliating against him for filing the lawsuit.

Holland’s suit reads, “50 Cent shows up about a half mile from plaintiff home, and plaintiff sees the same truck that pulled into his driveway at the 50 Cent event. So plaintiff realizes it was either defendant Jackson or his Entourage who decided to ‘Pull Up.’” It continues, “When you looking for a confrontation your honor, this is what people say, nowadays. Up to this point, plaintiff had ignored a lot of ‘subliminal attacks’ on him online, but now 50 Cent is bringing the drama right to plaintiff front yard, so plaintiff responded to 50 Cent they way any normal person would respond to a possible threat, plaintiff prepared himself for whatever was go happen.”

Holland alleges that the seven acts in a CD he released, Blasphemy are identical to the seven seasons of the Starz television series as well as the first two seasons of Power Book II: Ghost.

50 Cent’s legal team called the lawsuit frivolous and stated that because the last showing of Power aired in February 2020 and the lawsuit was filed in April 2021, he missed the one-year statute of limitations under New York law.

Idris Elba is clapping back at critics who claim he denied his Blackness when he denounced the label, “Black actor.” The British actor explained to Esquire UK that referring to yourself as a Black actor can limit role opportunities and growth in Hollywood.

Elba shared, “I stopped describing myself as a Black actor when I realized it put me in a box. As humans, we are obsessed with race. And that obsession can really hinder people’s aspirations, hinder people’s growth. Racism should be a topic for discussion, sure. Racism is very real. But from my perspective, it’s only as powerful as you allow it to be, We’ve got to grow. We’ve got to. Our skin is no more than that: It’s just skin. As you get up the ladder, you get asked what it’s like to be the first Black to do this or that,” Elba continued. “Well, it’s the same as it would be if I were white. It’s the first time for me. I don’t want to be the first Black. I’m the first Idris.”

During a new interview with The Guardian, Elba added that he purposely lives a “sheltered life” because social media often chooses to contort the words of celebrities.

“It’s really difficult to have an opinion if you’re in the public eye because it gets overly scrutinized, taken out of context, and thrown into some sort of bullshit, zeitgeisty social media argument.”

The 50-year-old described social media as a “conflict incubator” and noted that his anti-Black actor label is his choice, and he’s sticking to it because it’s his prerogative.

“Me saying I don’t like to call myself a Black actor is my prerogative. That’s me, not you. So for you to turn around and say to me, I’m ‘denying my Blackness’. On what grounds? Did you hear that? Where am I denying it? And what for? It’s just stupid. Whatever,” he told The Guardian.

“There isn’t a soul on this earth that can question whether I consider myself a BLACK MAN or not. Being an ‘actor’ is a profession, like being an ‘architect,’ they are not defined by race. However, If YOU define your work by your race, that is your Prerogative [sic]. Ah, lie?”

The series creator, 50 Cent, hit Instagram to celebrate the rapper and actor, dubbing him No. 1 in Wu-Tang.

Are you ready for the return of Tariq? 50 Cent’s Power Book II: Ghost is set for a March return. On Thursday (Feb. 16), STARZ released a new trailer, showing the fallout of the murder of basketball star Zeke, Tariq, and Brayden taking their work to Wall Street, and the Tejada’s seemingly ready to turn on Monet.

Most notable in the trailer is Tariq turning his savage up and looking to top his father’s legacy.

“I’m not like my dad; I’m smarter than him,” Tariq says in the trailer.

Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams calls Black people a hate group and urges white people to ‘get the hell away from them. Since the video went viral Dilbert has been dropped by more than 200 newspapers.

To name a few—The Los Angeles Times, The San Antonio Express-News, The USA Today Network, and The Plain Dealer in Cleveland have all cut ties with the cartoonist. “This is a decision based on the principles of this news organization and the community we serve,” Plain Dealer Editor Chris Quinn wrote. ”We are not a home for those who espouse racism. We certainly do not want to provide them with financial support.”

Adams experienced possibly the biggest repercussion of his recent comments about race when distributor Andrews McMeel Universal announced Sunday, Feb. 26 it would no longer work with the cartoonist. In an episode of his YouTube show last week, Adams described people who are Black as members of “a hate group” from which white people should “get away.” Various media publishers across the U.S. denounced the comments while saying they would no longer provide a platform for his work.

Andrews McMeel Chairman Hugh Andrews and CEO and President Andy Sareyan said in a joint statement that the syndication company was “severing our relationship” with Adams.

“We are proud to promote and share many different voices and perspectives. But we will never support any commentary rooted in discrimination or hate,” they said in the statement posted on the company website and Twitter.

The creator of the long-running comic that pokes fun at office-place culture defended himself on social media against those whom he said “hate me and are canceling me.”

The backlash against Adams arose following comments on “Real Coffee with Scott Adams.” Among other topics, Adams used the YouTube show to reference a Rasmussen Reports survey that had asked whether people agreed with the statement “It’s OK to be white.”

Adams, who is white, repeatedly referred to people who are Black as members of a “hate group” or a “racist hate group” and said he would no longer “help Black Americans.”

“Based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from Black people,” Adams said on his Wednesday show.

In another episode of his online show Saturday, Adams said he had been making a point that “everyone should be treated as an individual” without discrimination.

50 Cent and Lionsgate announced the development of an unscripted show starring Envy and Flippin NJ set for A&E last October. The upcoming show will join the incredible 50 Cent television empire that is home to the globally popular Power and BMF franchises and recently signed a new non-exclusive broadcast television deal with Fox last month. In the series, Envy and Flippin’ NJ unveil everything that goes into purchasing, renovating, managing, and maintaining a property.

Over the holidays, The Source got the opportunity to speak with Envy and Flippin NJ about a variety of topics surrounding their upcoming show and answered several fan questions on real estate.

[Bryson “Boom” Paul]: First off. Congratulations to the two of you on the upcoming show, Property Players, which is executive produced by 50 Cent on A&E. Now, early news reports say there was a network bidding war for the show?

DJ Envy: I mean, it was a special thing.  I approached 50 and told 50 what we were doing with the real estate, and he was into it, and he loved the fact that we were helping our culture and really pushing it through, and we started spreading the word. And when 50 gets involved, it’s like no other, and we’ve had a bunch of networks reaching out to do deals, and I trust 50.

So 50 wanted to go with A&E, we met with the executives at A&E, and they’re cool, they understand the culture, they’re actually into what we’re doing, and that was a perfect fit. But yeah, we did have some great companies reaching out, but I think A&E is a great home for us.

How does your show differ from other real estate television shows?

Cesar “Flippin NJ” Piña: So pretty much with us, what makes us different is we’re not very cookie cutter. Whenever you look at these TV shows when it comes to real estate, they’re all very cookie-cutter. You buy an ugly house. You fix it. You flip it. This is how much you put in. Boom, that’s all you see. It doesn’t show you all the other parts of it. Let’s say just on the flipping side: you’re dealing with contractors, you’re getting permits, you’re dealing with the city, you’re dealing with contractors trying to rob you, trying to charge you more than what things cost.

We’re going to show everything that happens behind the scenes that you never see on TV. Besides that, right? Not only we flip houses, we’re also into rental properties. There hasn’t been any TV show that shows you anything about rentals. They don’t show you about evictions. They don’t show you about property management. They don’t show you about dealing with tenants, which is one of the craziest things in the world when it comes to that. You don’t see that. They don’t show you anything when it comes to that.

Then we’re also developers. We also develop properties from scratch. We’re putting up a 50-unit building, a 100-unit building, a unit building right now that you’re going to see that on the show too. So as far as real estate, we do pretty much everything across the board. Besides the seminars too, and helping other people and mentoring other people, regular people, celebrities and stuff like that. You never really see anything like that on TV.

DJ Envy: Yeah, and we not even sure if “Property Players” is going to be the name yet, but I will say this. If you look at everything that we’ve done or everything that 50 does, it’s out of the box, but it represents the culture, right? Whether it’s The Breakfast Club, it was a show that nobody ever seen before that came together. At first, it was like, “What is this?” And then we are 13 years in the Radio Hall Of Fame and all these accomplishments, interviews, and all that.

So, it’s a show that’s going to show real life. It’s going to show two dudes, one from Queens, New York, myself. Cesar from Paterson, New Jersey. Our grind, how we came up. His dad was a taxi cab driver. My dad is a retired police officer. So it wasn’t like we had a lot of money. Wasn’t like we came from wealth, wasn’t like we were rich, but we figured it out. And not only figured out, we’re turning it around and teaching our community.

So you going to see a lot of craziness. You’re going to see a lot of tenants chasing out of the buildings. You going to see people sleeping in our buildings. You going to see poo and doo-doo in some of our buildings. You going to see our kids in the buildings. You going to see my wife running out in some of the buildings. You going to see real-ish. It’s nothing made up. And that’s the best thing about this. We didn’t have to make anything up because it’s just so real.

Do you consider yourselves disruptors in real estate?

Envy: Yeah, I definitely am. When it comes to real estate, I am a disruptor. I’m the type of person that I’m going to go left. I remember when I first started talking about Paterson and Detroit, and I had all these real estate “moguls” telling me, “Yo, stop talking about these areas. You’re flooding the areas. You’re flooding the blocks.” I had so many people mad that I was working with Cesar.

But I tell everybody all the time, I’m good. Financially, I’m okay. And if I could help my people become okay, I’m happy. So if it’s going to mean that I get a smaller pie, smaller part of the pie, I’m good with that. Because I know my next-door neighbor’s looking like me. I know my next-door neighbor came from the same place as I did. I know my next-door neighbor’s going to be able to teach his son, or teach his daughter, teach his wife, teach his mother, teach his father.

My parents been living in the same crib for 45 years. Never invested a dime. And not because they didn’t want to, it’s because they didn’t have the knowledge to. They didn’t know how to. And for them, a lot of people, especially older people, where they put their money? Under the mattress. They don’t want to put it into the banks though, because they just don’t have the knowledge.

And I think about it all the time. If my mom’s invested instead of doing some of the things she did, she would be even more well off. Thank God she has a son that did okay and make sure she’s all right. But I think about that all the time. There’s a million of my moms out there. A million of my pops out there. So I’m just trying to change the narrative a little bit.

What is the show’s main priority?

Cesar: That anything is possible. Anybody could do it. Real estate is one of those things that as long as you’re good with numbers, I don’t care what your background is, if you have a college degree or you’re from the streets, it’s just numbers. And if you’re good with numbers, man, you could also be successful too.

I don’t come from a real estate family. I don’t come from any money. My real estate story is not traditional. I learned about real estate in prison. The guy that came in, I taught him how to bid, and he taught me about real estate. And here I am, 17 years later, we’re more than 3,000 units nationwide.

Envy: Yeah, I just want the communities to know and our people to know that it can be done. My assistant, her name is Mercedes, she’s been working with me for two years and when she first got the job, and we started working during the pandemic, she was living in a house. One-floor house with five people. And she’s living in a room, whatever they call a room in the houses.

And I told her, “You continue to work with me, I’m going to teach you not only how to buy your own house and your first house, but I’m going to show you and guide you through it.” And a year into working with me, she got her own crib, three-bedroom house that she purchased. I think she purchased for like 350. It’s now worth like 490. And that’s what it’s about. Teaching people like us how do it, and how to obtain it.

I’m sure she thought she could obtain it, but I didn’t think she thinks it would be that fast. But she can. Sometimes it’s just a matter of saving. Sometimes just putting your priorities first. But the reason I tell that story is because it’s not just about her, it’s now she’s inspiring the people around her. Showing her people that, “Yo, it can be done.” You know what I mean? And that’s what we trying to do.

Envy, you’ve been in the entertainment industry your entire career, so television isn’t too unfamiliar to you. But Cesar, television is a completely new frontier for you. Did you ever see yourself making a TV show?

Cesar “Flippin NJ” Piña: Not at all.  I’ve been in real estate for 17 years, I met Envy about four or five years ago. He’s like, “Yo, I think you got a great story. Get in front of everybody and let them know what you’ve been through and where you’re at today.” And I was like, it was never in my future or even thought about being a public speaker.  I even dropped the book. My wife says all the time that I could barely read and write. I’m just good at numbers. It went number one, Wall Street, number one. Amazon, number one. Barnes and Noble. And now we got a TV show. I’ve never imagined that we would ever, number one, talk in front of large crowds, drop a book, and now a TV show. I never even thought about that.

Of course, you will feature celebrity guests on Property Players. Cesar, I’d like to ask you what is a common question entertainers ask you about real estate?

Cesar: You know what’s the craziest thing that I have learned with a lot of entertainers and especially in hip hop? A lot of these guys are still renters. And when they tell you that, I’m like, “Bro, but you’ve made millions of dollars. You get paid a couple hundred thousand dollars per show. What the hell going on?” And a lot of athletes too. A lot of these guys they got a lot of money, but they don’t know what to do with it. That’s one of the first things they ask me, “How can I invest? How can I start?”

But then you look at them for a second, and you’re like, “Yo, you got more money than me, bro. You still didn’t start?” That’s one of the things, especially with the older hip hop guys, like 90s, early 2000 hip hop, you’d be amazed that most of those guys, man, they didn’t really invest their money a lot.

Fans of the Breakfast Club have heard you two speak on and have differences of opinion on buying properties you haven’t seen. Envy, you are against it, while Cesar frequently does it. Could you two explain your differences of opinion on purchasing unseen properties?

Envy: Well, if you’re a first-time home buyer or you’re new to this, I would say get to that area. I wouldn’t advise going to any area you haven’t seen. Site unseen are for professionals. It’s for people like Cesar, my partner. Even me I purchase a bunch of properties, I still go and see it because I want to touch it. I want to see what the neighborhood is. I want to see what it looks like. I want to see if it’s close to a pharmacy if it’s close to a dog park, if it’s close to downtown where it is.

So me personally, I check on my properties. If I got to drive to Milwaukee, Detroit, Florida, Paterson, Atlantic City, it doesn’t matter. I’m going to go see it. I’m going to make that time. If you can make time to watch your bum-ass Cowboys, I’m sorry that was personal. If you can make time to watch the Cowboy game or football game, or basketball game, or if you can make time to go to the club or go on vacation, you can make time to invest in your future.

Cesar: Real estate is just numbers. When I first started in real estate before … Well, before we started doing the seminars, my thing was Jersey. Patterson, Passaic, Newark, East Orange, Tri-State area, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, I’m buying everything. I want to control it. But then, once I went around the country and I started seeing different areas, it’s just numbers. If you learn the numbers, you could do it anywhere, and that’s all real estate is.

So now, we’re in New Jersey, we’re in Atlanta, we’re in Florida, we’re in Chicago, we’re in Wisconsin, we’re in Ohio, and I’m not there physically. I go to most of those places at least once a month, but it’s just numbers. As far as a person starting, I always recommend rental property. That’s the easiest thing. Get a rental property. Use your FHA mortgage, and then as you learn the business, then expands to other areas. But as far as being an out-of-state landlord and not really being there, it’s very possible to do. Most people get scared about being a landlord out of state, but as long as you find a good property management company, you’re paying them five to 10%, you don’t even have to be there. You don’t have to deal with none of the headaches.

A lot of people relocated to different areas in the US due to COVID-19. As real estate moguls, what are some other areas that you’ve ventured out into looking into as far as buying properties?

Envy: I mean, landscape right now for real estate for myself is a tough spot. Right now, I’m just stacking because I think with interest rates going up, I think a lot of people are going to lose the homes. I think a lot of people overpriced, overpaid for homes. And I think it’s going to be a situation where a lot of people are going to lose. Similar to the 2008 market, where prices went down and there was all this inventory and the people that made off were the people that was buying all that inventory for cheap. And I think this could be a situation again.

So right now, as far as myself, I’m sitting back and I’m waiting to see what happens. I’m just stacking my ends and I’m waiting because I’m starting to see people losing cars. I’m starting to see people losing watches. I’m starting to see people losing homes. And as fucked up as it is, is that’s when people usually get the richest. And I’m sitting back and I’m relaxing. And hopefully, people are out there saving as well.

This would be the time that you get that house that you always wanted that couldn’t afford. This would be that time. And like I tell everybody else, I purchased the house in Jersey and the house was worth 12.8. I paid 5 for it. Perfect timing. That’s when you want to buy, when you can strike those type of deals. So even when you do become broke, or if something does happen, you always have equity in your home.

Cesar: Right now, it’s something very … You hear the media, they’re telling you recession. The same recession. Again, like we were talking about before, everybody’s shopping for Christmas. They’re telling you recession; they’re telling you that the market’s going to change. But this is the thing: when you look in between the lines, rates go up, interest rates went up, and that affects people, mostly minorities, more middle class. They can’t afford to buy now. So they’re like, all right, the rates are going up, real estate is going to go down.

But then, you see at a company like Chase just bought a billion dollars worth of rental properties. If you look at it, in essence, what’s happening in this country is they’re trying to raise … Or we’re becoming a nation of renters. All the big institutions they’re all buying up single-family rentals. In the next ten years, about 40% to 50% of the single-family properties in the US are going to be owned by big institutions. They’re getting rid of the middle guy, the little guy, for being a homeowner or a landlord, and they’re making that person into a renter.

That’s really what’s going on. They’re scaring you, but yet all the big companies, all the big funds, they’re all buying up all the real estate in the world right now. And they’re like, “Oh, rates are going up. Don’t get into real estate,” but come and rent this house for me for $3,500.” You got to read in between the lines a little bit because rents never go down. They never go backwards. They always go up. The rental side, right now, becoming a landlord, you’re dancing to the bank. You’re going to win regardless.

But I don’t see values going down in 2023. I think it’s the even interest rates going up, which actually they went down a little bit now is having … At the end of the day, what it comes down to is supply and demand, and there’s not enough housing. That’s why it’s holding the value. I don’t really see it dropping like that. And if it drops, you’re going to see it more in that single-family area, maybe a five to a 10% drop in single-family homes. But as far as multi-family, commercial, anything we’re renting, it’s on fire. It’s not going back down.

How can hip-hop further educate people about real estate and generational wealth?

Envy: I think it’s what we’re doing now, having these types of conversations. And not only that, people just can’t rely on one conversation and say I know everything. You know what I mean? It’s like anything else. It’s like, yo, if you got to go to the doctor, right? Nine times out of 10, you just don’t go to one doctor if it’s a major surgery. You go to a couple of doctors, you ask a couple of people, and then from there, you decide if that is the right decision for you. And that’s with everything else.

Where is the lack of communication when it comes to urban communities with the banks?

Envy: I mean, I can go to Sears and get a washer and dryer easily, you know what I mean? I can go buy a Mercedes-Benz or BMW easily. But now, if I want a business and I’m trying to create something in my community, it’s almost impossible. And a lot of times, a loan amount is less than the BMW, the loan amount is less than the Mercedes. And they’ll say, oh, that’s because we have some equity.

I don’t see them asking that to other cultures. When other cultures are trying to dive into a business, they dive into it. I got a Jewish friend, his name is Ronnie, and he was telling me in his culture, when a small business opens, he says for the first six months, everybody, it’s not law, but they have to go to that business for the first six months. He said there’ll be lines around the corner. And he said the reason that they do that is they want to make sure that business can sustain for six months and that business will be all right for six months. In our community, we don’t do that.

In our community, you open up a store in Dallas where you selling wherever. The first thing people are say is, “Yo, can I get a discount? Yo, can you hook me up? Yo, can you?” And we have to stop doing that. Although I know discounts and getting things cheaper is great, and it feels good. But sometimes we got to understand that that hurts that man’s business because he has staff, he has employees, he has shipping, he has lights, he has electricity, he has water, he has all those things that he has. So we just really have to support our own, and we also have to give people a little leeway.

I mean, leeway is like all businesses are not going to be great. And it’s the meme I see all the time on Instagram or social media where they say, “You go to McDonald’s a thousand times, and 900 of the times, the frosting machine don’t work. But you still go back.” You know what I mean? But this brother has one business, and maybe he had an employee that had a bad day, or he had one day, and maybe the chef was off one day, and then all of a sudden we never gone back to that business, and we just got to make sure we can’t do that. We have to make sure we support our own.

Cesar, you amassed so much success and employed your friends, loved ones, and enthusiasts interested in the industry. How do you remain motivated following the years of accomplishments?

Cesar: It’s just, bro, there’s really no ceiling to reach when it comes to real estate. I’m from Patterson, New Jersey. Patterson, New Jersey alone, has two billion dollars worth of real estate, and that’s a city of 150,000 people. There really is no threshold for me. When I first started, I wanted to have five, ten units, make five, $10,000 a month, hit that, then hit 100, 200, three. There really is no stopping. Now, I tell myself, “You know what? Once I hit 10,000 units, I’m good.” We’ll probably be at 5,000 in the next two years. But for me, I see myself and my daughter taking over the business eventually in the next, maybe … I’m 45, by the time I’m 50, 52, and then I only come to the office maybe twice a week, kind of thing. And then she just takes over the family business, and I just make sure everything’s running correctly.

But yeah, man, there really is no stopping in real estate. It’s one of those things that you could do forever because the thing with real estate is that is one of the things that is not hands-on. When you think about it, if you’re an athlete, you’re a doctor, you’re an attorney, whatever you are, your career’s going to end eventually. Real estate, that rent is due from the fifth to the 10th, forever. When I’m here, or I’m not here, no matter what, that’s coming in. So real estate is like, you’ll keep on adding more units, and once you have your system in play, there really is no stopping.

And lastly, I know you are in the early stages of production, but when can we expect the release of the debut season of Property Players?

Cesar: We’re probably looking at summer 2023 or September 2023.

Netflix has announced the release date for Grammy-nominated, Oscar and Golden Globe award-winning actor and comedian Mo’Nique’s first stand-up special with the streamer. The special, My Name is Mo’Nique, is set for release on April 4.

The special’s synopsis reads:

Mo’Nique delivers a career defining, powerhouse stand-up performance in her unprecedented return to the stage. Filled with laugh till you cry stories as well as soul bearing emotion, Mo’Nique promises that by the end of the show you will understand why she is the way she is, and true to form, she delivers. At this point, what can 50 Cent not do?

Real name Curis Jackson has officially signed a non-exclusive multi-project broadcast deal with Fox, which serves as the new television partner for his G-Unit Film & Television company. 

The partnership includes developing scripted dramas, live-action comedies, and animated series that would air on the network. Any content under this deal will be owned by Fox Entertainment, and produced entirely in-house between Fox and 50’s production company.

In a statement, 50 Cent states, “I am excited to formalize a partnership with Michael Thorn and Fox that will allow G-Unit Film & Television to focus on putting multiple series on Fox, a perfect broadcast destination for G-Unit Film & Television content while our premium, streaming, scripted, and non-scripted slates continue to grow in all directions.

This new deal arrives just months after Jackson split from his previous deal with Starz, which he had even described the situation as “dumb shit” prior to the exit. However, 50 remains the executive producer for his television shows Power, and more recently, BMF and British boxing drama Fightland. 

And with this new deal being non-exclusive, 50 is able to shop his production services to other places.

Michael Thorn, President of Scripted Programming, Fox Entertainment had some nice words for 50. “Whether it’s music, film or television, Curtis always delivers premium entertainment that captivates millions of fans across the globe. He is the rare multi-hyphenate with a deft hand at storytelling, no matter the format or medium, and we’re looking forward to developing new and exciting series for Fox with him and his team.”

50 Cent isn’t the only multihyphenate with deals at the network, joining an all-star roster including Rodney Rothman and Adam Rosenberg, Carol Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz, and writer/producer/director McG.

Beyond film, 50 is also diving into the podcast space. With his new G-Unit audio banner, he debuted “Surviving El Chapo: The Twins Who Brought Down a Drug Lord,” in partnership with iHeart Media and Lionsgate Sound.

50 Cent has really jumpstarted an acting competition between two of the actors of his most revered shows to date; BMF‘s Lil Meech and Power‘s Michael Rainey Jr. The young actors from both STARZ series took their perspective stances against each other in the heat of the moment on Instagram following a post from Power a BMF creator and executive producer 50 Cent.

50 Cent posted Rainey on his Instagram, saying, “@michaelraineyjr on some s**t, he said where you at @lilmeechbmf?” The comment immediately garnered a response from the son of reputed drug kingpin Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, who said, “I’m working on being immortal 5 @50Cent these guys still mortal… let’s go to lunch later I’ll give u some free game @michaelraineyjr.”

Rainey replied, “how you working on being immortal but ya show dead? March 17 we gon show you how it’s done ok take notes.”

Anyone who lived through the 90s would probably list The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as one of their all-time favorite television shows. The sitcom starred Will Smith as himself, as his mom sends him away from the troublesome neighborhoods of Philadelphia to beautiful Bel-Air in California. Suddenly, he finds himself inside the home of Uncle Phil and Aunt Vivian, as Will hilariously learns to navigate this new environment.

Fast forward to today, fans of the show can live vicariously through Bel-Air on Peacock, the new one-hour, reimagined drama series set in modern-day Los Angeles. And with the success of Season 1, audiences can hardly wait for the premiere of Season 2 today, February 13th.

Season 2 of Bel-Air sees the return of Jabari Banks as Will Smith, Adrian Holmes as Uncle Phil, Cassandra Freeman as Aunt Vivian, Olly Sholotan as Carlton, Coco Jones as Hilary, Akira Akbar as Ashley, and Jimmy Akingbola as the butler.

The Source had the opportunity to sit with the cast at Langham Hotel in Pasadena, for an exclusive roundtable conversation. Split into two groups, the cast discusses what it meant to have Saweetie on set, what hip-hop means to them, and their favorite artists.

I interviewed Saweetie and she told me she was taking acting classes. How was it working with her on set and what can we expect from her character?

Olly Sholotan: Saweetie is the nicest-smelling woman on the planet. She smells great, which I feel that’s really, really important. Working with her was fantastic. She’s very, very kind and very gracious. Having her on set was so exciting. I don’t want to say too much, but it’s this really cool scene at a party and the setting is a lot. 

Jabari Banks: It was actually one of the first days shooting.

Olly Sholotan: It was our second day shooting and Saweetie comes by, it was really, really exciting. It was such a great way to kick off the season of filming. 

Jabari Banks: And you know what? She was super prepared. She was even more prepared than we expected her to be. More prepared than us, to be honest. She was a joy. Saweetie is amazing. I love her as an artist. I respect her a lot as an artist, it was amazing that she got to grace our show.

Adrian Holmes: She was so sweet. 

Cassandra Freeman: She was so sweet, she can actually be an actress! I was like, look here lady, you’re legit.

Adrian Holmes: She was very comfortable. Very, very relaxed. She was a nice addition to the energy. Stay tuned, we’re going to be seeing more of her.

Cassandra Freeman: You just never know what to expect when you see people from different industries coming into your industry. Some people over prepare, under prepare. Some people aren’t personable. They don’t know if they’re supposed to be personable when you hit the set. She was just professional. As soon as she hit, she was so nice and normal. There was no diva energy, it wasn’t like “excuse me! I’m Saweetie!” It was like, “Hey guys, I’m here.” She was super sweet, just like her name.

Adrian Holmes: She lived up to her name, for sure.

Hip-Hop celebrates its 50th year anniversary this year. What does hip-hop mean to you and who is your favorite artist currently?

Adrian Holmes: Hip-hop, for me, is the fabric of my childhood. It really shaped our lives, and my life. It’s very nostalgic. When I think of hip-hop, I go back to Heavy D and the boys. I’m a 90’s hip-hop head, so I go back to Leaders of the New School, A Tribe Called Quest. I love that about Phillip because they introduce that in the show. In my office, I have artwork and post pictures of concerts and hip-hop references. 

Cassandra Freeman: I love it! Mine would be J.J. Fad, Salt & Pepa, Lauryn Hill. Queen Latifah. MC Lyte, come on. This is my childhood. Especially J.J. Fad was the first rap I ever learned. “We’re J.J. Fad and we’re here to rock!” That was the first rap I ever learned. 

Jimmy Akingbola: Cass is a rapper, she’s got bars. For me, I’m thinking of people like Ice Cube, Wu-Tang Clan, N.W.A. Growing up, they really had a big influence on me. Fu-Schnickens. Also, some of the new cats now. Is it Coast Contra? They do a lot of great freestyles on Instagram. Obviously, you got people like Kendrick. My favorite. In the UK, because I got to represent, men like Stormzy. For me, he’s the GOAT. He’s the king of UK hip-hop at the moment. As well as Ghetts, Kano, and Blaze, who’s in Top Boy. So it’s a real good time, but hip-hop for me is an identity, the culture, also education. That storytelling back in the 90’s was what was beautiful. 

Adrian Holmes: That’s the thing: back in the 90’s, there was more of a story being told through the music. Not to say that doesn’t exist today. Kendrick, J. Cole, they do that too. In the 90’s, it was poetry. Spoken word. Real spoken word, they put a beat to it. 

Jimmy Akingbola: Who was that one? Jeru the Damaja. 

Adrian Holmes: Oh man! Because hip-hop is so nostalgic. When you think about hip-hop, you think about certain artists and songs, it takes you back to a time and place in your life and it sparks joy. It makes you feel good. You remember where you were when you heard these songs, or that time in your life. That’s why we could talk about it.

Coco Jones: Hip-hop is about being vulnerable in a way that still gets stuck in your head. It’s a really interesting balance because if you’re making an important song, you’re probably talking about something and it’s infectious at the same time. That’s hard to do. Sometimes hip-hop is seen as something easy, but really, it takes a lot of skill to make a song that will stand the test of time. 

I know that being a musician and an artist is equally challenging. I’m not in hip-hop, but I’m in R&B. And that’s what I’m always trying to do, especially with my EP What I Didn’t Tell You. Just making music that stands the test of time, in any genre is challenging. Hip-hop is culture. A lot of things get inspired by hip-hop, and they wouldn’t even tell you that. That’s what we do as Black people, we are innovative and we are continuing to evolve and make classics in general.

Olly Sholotan: Hip-hop is about truth and exploration and innovation. One of my biggest inspirations at the moment is Metro Boomin, his album Heroes and Villains is fantastic. What’s so good about it, is hip-hop more than any other genre is so welcoming to other genres. Hip-hop is very descriptive rather than being prescriptive. It’s not trying to be anything else, it just is. It borrows from different genres and it borrows from different cultures and ideas . That’s so well-exemplified in Heroes and Villains. And it uses samples, elements of gospel, of R&B. Metro Boomin!

Favorite song?

Olly Sholotan: “Raindrops” or “Superheroes.” “Superheroes” is so hard!

Jabari Banks: “Superheroes” is fire! At the end of the day, I feel that pop is hip-hop. The birth of hip-hop from where it was to where it is now, it is the culture. It is who we are. Sorry to say, all of our favorite white artists are influenced by hip-hop. Ariana Grande. Thank you Taylor Swift. Thank you Justin Bieber. The hip-hop influence is everywhere. At the end of the day, hip-hop is about being authentic. Doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, what you been through. That’s where it was birthed, so happy birthday hip-hop!

Akira Akba: They couldn’t have said it better. Hip-hop on TikTok is a big thing, especially with dancing. Dancing plays a huge part in hip-hop. That one dance — what’s that one dance? Literally, we were all doing that constantly. But I have a few favorite artists. I listen to SZA, Summer Walker, PARTYNEXTDOOR. This new SZA album is so good.

1. Hip-hop’s 50th Year To Be Honored in One-of-A-kind Performance

The 2023 GRAMMYs will recognize Hip-Hop’s 50 anniversary this Sunday (Feb. 5). Questlove, a six-time Grammy winner, has announced that he would co-curate the Hip-Hop 50 tribute performance at the 2023 GRAMMYs.

Performers for the celebration of Hip-Hop include Big Boi, Busta Rhymes, Spliff Star, De la Soul, DJ Drama, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Missy Elliott, Future, GloRilla, Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel, Furious 5, Ice T, Lil Baby, Lil Wayne, The Lox, Method Man, Nelly, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Rakim, Run DMC, Salt N Pepa, DJ Spinderella, Scarface, Swizz Beatz and Too Short.

LL COOL J will introduce the section, perform, and dedicate himself to hip-hop. Questlove will serve as producer and musical director, the Roots will supply music, and the hip-hop group Black Thought will narrate.

“For five decades, hip-hop has not only been a defining force in music, but a major influence on our culture,” said Harvey Mason jr., CEO of the Recording Academy. “Its contributions to art, fashion, sport, politics, and society cannot be overstated. I’m so proud that we are honoring it in such a spectacular way on the GRAMMY stage. It is just the beginning of our year-long celebration of this essential genre of music.”

2. Hov is Back at The GRAMMYs

JAY-Z will join Fridayy, John Legend, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross to perform DJ Khaled’s “GOD DID,” which is nominated for Song fo the Year.

This year, DJ Khaled is nominated for six GRAMMY Awards, including five for “God Did,” including Song Of The Year (“God Did”), Album Of The Year (“God Did”), Best Rap Song (“God Did”), Best Rap Album (“God Did”), Best Rap Performance (“God Did”), and Best Melodic Rap Performance (“Beautiful”).

4. Quavo to Tribute Takeoff at 2023 GRAMMY Awards

Quavo will perform with Maverick City Music at the 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, Feb. 5th. The performance will honor Qu avo’s family member, friend, and Migos member, Takeoff.

The performance will double to raise awareness around gun violence and keep faith during troubled times.

Quavo will take the stage and perform his Takeoff tribute song “WITHOUT YOU.” The performance will happen during the In Memoriam segment.

In addition to their performance with Quavo, Maverick City Music is nominated for five honors in both Gospel and Contemporary Christian categories, with double nominations in the Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song category.

5. Who Wins Album of the Year?

Bravo’s new TV series is almost here!  SWV & Xscape: Queens of R&B just released its trailer and fans will have plenty to digest.  Legendary R&B groups, SWV & Xscape, give fans access to the making of their joint-headlining concert spanning only one night.  Produced by Mona Scott-Young, the 6-part series will air on March 5^th.   All members from both groups will be involved: Tamika, LaTocha, Tiny, and Kandi of Xscape and Coko, Taj, and Lelee of SWV.

With two female supergroups, there are bound to be a few issues.  One issue is, who is going to be the headliner? Also, in the two-minute trailer, the ladies find out that one of their group members has signed a solo deal.  The TV network, Bravo, released a statement regarding their new series.

“The ladies will take viewers on the ultimate fan experience as they reveal the inner workings of putting on a live concert and expose the discord and complex dynamics of sisterhood within singing groups.”

Bravo is no stranger to having Xscape as part of its network.  Kandi Burruss has been on Real Housewives of Atlanta for years, and the group once had their own series Xscape: Still Kickin’ It as well.  The two groups have always been linked together since the 90s.  In 2021, they faced off against each other for a Mother’s Day Verzuz battle.

SWV was originally a gospel group but transitioned to R&B.  In the 90s, they had hits such as, “Weak”, “You’re the One”, and “Right Here”.  To this day, they are one of the best-selling female groups of all time, with over 25 million records sold.  Xscape was discovered by Jermaine Dupri as he signed them to his record label, So So Def.  Their debut album, Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha, went platinum with some of their biggest hits, “Just Kickin’ It” and “Understanding”.

Last night, Michael B. Jordan showed his hilarious sense of humor during his Saturday Night Live hosting debut.

The Creed III star and director delivered an opener poking fun at himself, his very public breakup, and humble beginnings before his heartthrob status.

“I’m so happy to be here. Michael B. Jordan, and tonight, Michael B. Hosting. Michael B. Michael B. Joking. And honestly, Michael B. Nervous,” he said.

“Michael B. Vulnerable. But don’t worry, Michael B. Alright. Because Michael B. In therapy!”

He also joked about the unexpected reasons it was hard to get over his split with Lori Harvey.

“I just went through my very first public break-up. Now most people after a breakup are like, ‘I’m going to get in better shape!’ But I was already in Creed shape.”

He also mentioned he learned a new language to say en español that he’s on the Raya dating app.

In this Southwest spoof, the airline apologizes for the travel apocalypse of more than 16K canceled flights during the holidays. They promised to upgrade from 2002 computers to 2008 and recruit new flight crews from former Waffle House employees. “Come at them if you want, but these big b*tches  don’t play!” Joran’s lounge captain threatened. “If it’s that important to you, just walk!”

The infamous stories of Rick James and the Murphy brothers, Eddie and Charlie, will forever be intertwined with The Dave Chappelle Show and his “Real Hollywood Stories”, but the living legend appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to explain how the 80s disco hit “Party All The Time” by Eddie Murphy feat. Rick James even came to fruition.

The Trading Places actor detailed how he ended up staying at James’ house in Buffalo past the time allotted to record the track due to a huge snowstorm.

“We were snowed in for two weeks,” Murphy explained. “We were supposed to go up for the weekend. I went up there to record ‘Party All The Time’ …maybe the most fun I ever had…one of my fondest memories.”

This week’s Saturday Night Live will be hosted by Michael B. Jordan, and Lil Baby will be the musical guest. Ahead of the episode, the two stars appeared with cast member Heidi Garnder for some promo.

In the clip, Hardner is shooting her shot at Michael B. Jordan, who she wants to be her Valentine. After he stalls in giving an answer, Lil Baby offers to be her date, and Gardner accepts, leaving Jordan hilariously stunned, and alone.

Nipsey Hussle is Hip-Hop royalty, which means protecting him at all costs. The West Coast rapper was fatally shot on March 31st, 2019, outside his The Marathon Clothing store in South Central, Los Angeles.

Today, a joke about Nipsey Hussle in an episode of Family Guy has resurfaced online and all over social media, stirring up controversy amongst fans. Directed by Jerry Langford, the episode is titled “Young Parent Trap,” which aired in April of 2021 during the show’s 19th season. 

During the scene, Chris (who’s voiced by Seth Green) is heard telling his parents, Peter and Lois, that he plans on attending a local music festival called Quachella. When Peter (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) asks for more information, Chris states, “They’re gonna have holograms of Tupac and also Nipsey Hussle, who I’d never heard of and then was told to care immensely about.”

The video on Twitter has since gone viral, clocking in at 2.2 million views since it was posted early in the morning. Many fans came to defend Nipsey Hussle for the show’s dark humor towards his death, while some argued that this is precisely in line with the sense of humor that Family Guy is known for.

The reference stems from Tupac’s hologram appearance during Dr. Dre’s headlining set at Coachella back in 2012, as a virtual Tupac was seen performing with the legendary Snoop Dogg.
Nipsey Hussle was considered a legend in the underground scene. Some would even say he reached the mainstream light, especially with the release of his debut album, Victory Lap. Regardless, any joke regarding someone’s death should not be taken lightly; unfortunately, this wasn’t caught earlier.
