In reply to Manny Gonzalez. Not everybody thinks TDA is his best album fuck boy. Just because you and Game think that shit doesn't mean the rest of us do. He got better lyrically on TDA but the production wasn't close to D1. D1 had that GRODT vibe that was untouchable. TDA was a nice follow up but can't touch how D1 started off with straight fire.

Uh…………..The Doctor’s Advocate is his best album. SMH. I don’t understand why it’s even up for debate. 1. TDA 2. The Documentary ONE and now this new album is his 3rd best. depending on what 2.5 has to offer (which I am sure is going to only add more greatness) it could maybe surpass his debut. Nonetheless, The Doctor’s Advocate was and still is his best work, probably for the rest of his career, his magnum opus.

In my hip hop and society class, we had a discussion about authenticity in hip hop and how this generation is influenced by hip hop and how it’s influencing it. We discussed how rappers mainly focus on talking about women (mainly downgrading them), drugs, and money rather talking about their personal lives and the obstacles they have been through. In the article, the writer, Akaash, says “If you’re like me, you feel that there’s a time and place for your Futures and your Young Thugs but do believe that ultimately, the most important attribute of a good rapper is their lyricism.” This implies that rappers like Future and Young Thug don’t rap about topics are actually meaningful. They talk about things that appeal to our new generation. I agree with this because I lean towards to listening to rappers and their upbringing than rappers talking about “trapping”. Akaash is also saying that rap should be focused on the quality of the music rather than who’s better than the other. If rappers focus solely on who made the best verse than the other, then they are losing focus on the quality of their part. Authenticity in hip-hop is very important as well because people would listen to an artist who keeps it real to their audience. Akaash makes great points in this article where rappers need to realize that it isnt all about who has the best lyricism in the industry. They should focus on keeping it real and true to themselves when it comes to writing.

Addressing the part about Miley verses Nicki, I want to say
that I completely agree with Nicki when she says Miley uses black culture in
her videos and stuff but without really knowing the real struggles black people
have gone through. When Nicki made the comment about the VMA’s not nominating
the her Anaconda video it, she wasn’t mad just simply because her video wasn’t
nominated but because of what her video stood for which was glorifying thick
women in general. Nicki made a comment when she said, “Back in the day, in hip-hop, the thick girl
was glorified … Now the rappers are dating skinny white women. So it’s almost
like, wait a minute, who’s going to tell the thick black girls that they’re
sexy and fly, too?'” Nicki was making a point that in the hip-hop
culture thick women of color are not as appreciated than white women in hip hop
which is why she put out the Anaconda video. Nicki felt like that media needed
to portray both body types so girls wouldn’t feel insecure which is why the
Anaconda video is all about the thick girls. Nicki was just shedding light on an
issue in the music industry about how certain artist can use black culture in
their videos and get recognized for it but artist like herself put out a video
using black culture and meaning behind the video don’t get acknowledged for it.
