He enjoys a laid-back ride through the city in a slick Maybach before ultimately reaching his destination — a hotel to pick up his favorite lady. It’s a fittingly chill scenario for the laid-back, low-key, funky track, which would fit right in on one of his solo albums.

The Queens-born, Yonkers-raised rap titan shared his 2002 solo debut album A Gangster and a Gentleman, which was led by the Swizz Beatz-produced hit single “Good Times.” He’s had a two-decade long career of consistency, dropping over a dozen more projects to date (not including work with the LOX). In 2016, Styles P and the LOX shared their long-awaited first album together in 16 years Filthy America…It’s Beautiful, which debuted within the Top 50 of the Billboard 200 and was followed by a tour. Early on, he was a featured guest on Rick Ross’ 2010 massive hit “BMF (Blowin’ Money Fast)”.

Travius Keandric is not your average artist. He is a storyteller. A lyricist. A, what we’d call… a ‘rap-tivist.’ He uses his platform and voice to not just entertain but to empower. That stems even outside of the music, as he is also a registered nurse. His desire to help others was apparent as early as childhood. Travius was born in the small town of Marion, Alabama, which is also known as one of the most impoverished areas in the United States.

His nursing career coincides with his music, as Travius’ content speaks on health, wealth, and mental well-being. It’s no coincidence some of his inspirations are the late great Nipsey Hussle and Kendrick Lamar. Both artists are known to deliver positivity to their listeners, and Travius is easily cut from the same cloth.

The latest offering from Travius comes in the form of a new single / video titled “MOLLY.” Many consciously will assume the track is about the popular party substance — but this “MOLLY” is in reference to the female mogul.

Hailing from Atlanta, along with her posse of talented models — (MollyWorldCasting) — the lovely ladies [of course] make a cameo in the cinematic visual directed by David-L / Dash-TV.

“This visual was created from genuine love to help create the fun you see. This is the magic of Molly, which is something that you couldn’t pay for even if you wanted to.”

It doesn’t stop there. Also joining the fun were nurses from all over the country, who were invited by Travius so he can highlight his day-to-day peers.

“My fellow nurses are a big reason why I make music and even incorporate them in my visuals,” said Keandric. “Nurses deal with being short-staffed, low pay rates, being sleep deprived, and taking care of others before taking care of ourselves.”

He continued: “It can be [real] stressful at times, and many nurses need an outlet to release. There are so many multi-talented nurses, and I want them to know they can be a nurse and pursue other passions.. like creating music or entrepreneurship. In the “MOLLY” video, I had real nurses that flew in and drove long hours from all over the country to be in the video.”

Other featured cameos include Alder Davidson, the interviewer at the beginning of the clip, and DJ ‘Hoover the Finesse Groover’, who was getting the party right behind the boards.

Although the track was released in November, the single’s momentum continues to pour into the first quarter of the new year. Fans are already eager to hear his follow-up for “MOLLY,” and we’re sure Travius will not disappoint.

Heavyweight boxing superstar Deontay Wilder goes from the ring to the music industry with the release of his debut music video, “Everytime” featuring his fiance, Telli Swift, and brother, Marsellos Wilder.

Directed by Andre Ladon, better known as Lord Dre, the debut video stars the Bronze Bomber and bride-to-be frolicking between the sheets and corridors of their lavish mansion as he raps about the joy she brings him every moment they are together. Throughout warm embraces, Deontay — who dons a variety of signature fight entry outfits — woos a stunning Telli over the Spanish guitar-driven production with blushing lovey-dovey lyrics like, “Everytime I’m around you, girl, you make my mood change/ And everytime I’m around you, girl, you make my soul sang / I’m in love, baby / Girl, you drive me crazy…”

Upon the video’s release, Telli Swift would take to the YouTube comments to praise her leading man with heart-eyed face emojis and the message, “We kilt that! Soooo proud of you!!”

When asked what separates this project from previous efforts RJ shared,

“This album is literally a transparent introduction of who I am outside of being an artist. I wanted people to really know me hence why it is self-titled after my government name. I took my time with this and didn’t want to just release music because people felt it was time. The new music needed

He continued: “Me and Gucci first conversation was about 45 mins he asked me what I wanted to do wit my music career stay independent or sign to him and i obviously chose to sign to him haha he sent the contract that same day my lawyer looked over it and we sent back a signed contract on Thursday.”

Baby Racks joins a roster of all-stars at 1017 that includes Fooligino, Big Scarr, and Pooh Sheisty. “Look Ma I Did It” has surpassed over one million streams on Spotify and is available now via 1017 Global Music/Atlantic Records.

On Friday (September 2), popular Bay Area media outlet, Thizzler on the Roof, released the posthumous music video for “Pony” by slain Stockton, California recording artist Young Slo-Be to accompany his new album, Southeast, out now, via KoldGreedy Entertainment/Thizzler On The Roof. Young Slo-Be was shot and killed last month in Manteca, California. He was 29 years old.

On “Pony,” directed by Tyrese Johnson, which sampled the Ginuwine classic hit, Slo-Be politics with the crew while he exhibits charismatic lyricism over the signature style, beautiful women, and colorful graphics. “Pony” was shot mere weeks before his untimely death in Los Angeles.

Southeast was released during a time when the late rapper was steadily rising in his career after releasing three projects in 2021. Passion of Weiss on Young Slo-Be and his last album: “‘Southeast’ is a testament to Young Slo-Be’s dexterity, working with new producers and challenging himself with sample-based beats.”

“Young Slo-Be was a genuine and humble person with the personality and work ethic of a star,” shares Matt Werner, Founder and CEO of Thizzler On The Roof. “It’s painful knowing he was doing the right things and was about to make a huge change in his life when he passed. “Gotta live it up cuz I might die today, everyday vacation I’m on holiday,” he raps. Though it’s light and breezy on the surface, “Free Slime” reveals itself to be multi-layered and insightful.

In the new video, Offset and Moneybagg Yo glide around in the trendiest designer labels — dressed with an abundance of jewelry — as they trade verses about being too real and ahead of his time for these “counterfeit” rappers sending casual diss shots at him and those like him. “Code” stars supermodel Bella Hadid.

“Code” comes with proud support from Offset’s wife and multi-platinum entertainer Cardi B, who tweets a clip of the music video with fire and teary-eyed face emoji and the caption: “Video is sickening… Proud.”

Outside the new single, Offset sued his longtime label home, Quality Control, over the rights to his solo career this week, according to TMZ. Offset and QC’s label owner P traded tweets subliminally directed at one another over the situation after the news went public with P calling someone “the problem” and Offset refuting that he that someone is made because their name isn’t on the credits. Following the announcement of his Atlanta Hawks partnership, Scotty ATL unveils a brand-new album, Candler Road to Melrose. Last week the 37-year-old shared he will create through partnership custom grillz for the Hawks schedule release representing different NBA teams.

On Friday, Candler Road to Melrose released via Cool Club/ Cinq Music Group, which finds the southern emcee exploring the journey and path that led him to his highly successful grillz business on Melrose Ave.   

Scotty ATL, known for his distinct drawl and vernacular, keeps it fresh while switching flows over 13 tracks with production from super producer Zaytoven, DJ Burn One, DJ Tune and more.

The successful entrepreneur and artist continues to build his craft and financial freedom with a new project and expanding his company, Grillz By Scotty.

In recognition of #BlackBusinessMonth this August, Scotty ATL spoke with the Source’s Kim SoMajor about business after COVID-19, new ventures with PUMA, The Atlanta Hawks, and much more.

When and what sparked you to start a grillz business? 

I’ve always worn grillz since I was in high school. I made a name for myself in Atlanta as a rapper. One of my old friends lost his job as a dental assistant. He wanted to do grillz. At first I was just helping him and then it got more serious. 

How did it serve as another option outside of your rap career? 

It has allowed me to make extra income to support my dreams and provide for my family. It has also given me a bigger platform to share with the world. 

How did your business adjust during the stay-at-home orders and how is it now?

I adjusted by decreasing staff and increasing my knowledge of online businesses. Now we do both in store and online. I have a store in Atlanta on Candler Rd. and another store on Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles. 

With your business, you are providing an opportunity for other people too. What has been a definitive moment for you that reaffirmed that you made the right move in starting it? 

Everyday I think about that. Helping my dad move out of the projects and give him a job is the biggest. 

What’s next for Grillz By Scotty? 

Major brand collaboration opportunities on the way. New designs. New moves for the culture. Maybe more locations… 

How did you know that  was the next move for you? 

I knew it because I started making money everyday and that was my goal from the beginning. 

Talk about your new grillz design and how you’re elevating your business?

I have newly designed colored grillz are out now. They’re limited edition and very unique. I’m more than a grill maker, I’m a grill designer. You haven’t seen these before. 

Congratulations on your partnerships, to watch your dedication and growth in rap and  business is very inspiring. What do these success-building opportunities mean to you? 

My role as an influencer in this project was to capture ATL culture through my eyes. I had an amazing time and I’m so proud of myself and our company.

Since the release of their latest single, “If I Get Caught,” DVSN has certainly stirred the pot and open pandora’s box for conversations on potential toxic relationship.

The group originally finished the recording of the record back in January, with the intention to release it in March. Instead, it was release this Summer. One would say it is perfect timing because Winter months are labeled as “cuffing season.” On the other hand, the warm weather season entices more outside activity that may or may not involve the cuffing season.

“You get to see this person and mentality in its boldest of thoughts,” said Daniel. “There’s something in the honesty of the song, although it may be triggering.”

It has certainly triggered some listeners and raised some eyebrows. “If I Get Caught” has also prompted a response from half of the R&B quartet, Xscape. Kandi Burress and Tameka “Tiny” Harris dropped their response and added their sauce to the pot of controversial R&B. In the chorus they sing:

If you get caught cheating
middle finger up ni**a f**k you

Both Nineteen85 and Daniel Day have shared their experiences of getting caught. While they have learned their lessons of the past, the point of the record stretches beyond toxicity.

According to the the R&B duo, (Daniel Day & Nineteen85) their forthcoming album is a story. “If I Get Caught” is only “chapter one of it” that discuss ego.

Released Friday (August 5) on all digital streaming platforms via Profit Music Group, the new project comes on the heels of the “That’s On Me” hitmaker being cleared of all charges in several high-profile cases and signing a new deal with Asylum Records in late-2021 after leaving L.A. Reid’s Hitco Records.

Bad Azz Yella Boy includes 16 new songs that features guest appearances by newly-signed Quality Control recording artist Icewear Vezzo (“Out The Jar”) and up-and-coming act Mozz (“Problems”). From the cover to the sound, Yella’s latest release heavily sampled the nostalgic No Limit and Cash Money era.

In “DFWM,” Yella Beezy stars as ruthless no nonsense hustler who has to teach a rival crew a lesson for trying to stiff him on a deal. Things get ugly quickly while he raps about dealing with haters and unsavory characters when he is simply getting to the money and minding his own business. The visual delivers more nostalgia with Beezy and crew rolling around in a cherry-red 1985 BMW. Watch it above.

Bad Azz Yella Boy follows his 2019 mixtape, Baccend Beezy, that features Too Short, Chris Brown, Young Thug, and NLE Choppa. Beezy’s forthcoming album, currently untitled, coming soon on Asylum Records.

DJ Khaled uncovers his new mega anthem and music video, “Staying Alive” featuring Drake and Lil Baby.

The new single follows the recipe of quite a few smashes the executive producer and rap stars have unleashed before. The Drake vocals came in hot on “POPSTAR,” “For Free,” and “No New Friends” to name a few . While Khaled tapped Lil Baby on the 2021 summer hit “Every Chance I Get” and platinum ranking “You Stay.”

Today these three titans have united for the ultimate banger, “Staying Alive.” It paves the way for one of the biggest Hip Hop projects and Khaled’s long-awaited thirteenth full-length studio album, GOD DID, dropping on Friday August 26, 2022 via We The Best Music Group/Epic Records.
