Several reports have confirmed that Leon Youngblood Jr., better known as the producer “Roccstar”, turned the tables on a would-be robber during a home invasion at his Chatsworth, California home.

The 33-year-old producer was alerted of the burglar on the roof of his garage early Monday morning. Roccstar engaged in a physical confrontation with the intruder, holding him at gunpoint until the police arrived to arrest the intruder. The longtime producer of controversial crooner Chris Brown uploaded a video to IG about the incdent.

Roccstar also inquired the media as to why they didn’t mention the intruder’s race in any of the news reports.

With new music on the way, The Weeknd continues to run up the numbers. His latest edition of “Die for You,” featuring Ariana Grande, has hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The leap happened from the No. 6 slot.

According to Luminate, the song “Die for You,” dropped on XO/Republic Records, received 81.1 million radio airplay audience impressions (up less than 1%), 32.4 million streaming (up 181%), and 14,000 sales (up 1,170%), between February 24 and March 2.

The No. 1 single is the seventh for both The Weeknd and Grande. Their most recent No. 1s was “Save Your Tears,” another duet between the two.

The collaboration follows the single’s stunning resurgence, which has completed “the longest climb to #1 in U.S. radio history.”

Fans got a sneak view of the collaboration via Ariana’s TikTok account. She posted herself working on the vocals and revealing that she composed and recorded a verse for one of her friends after a 14-hour day on the set of Jon M. Chu’s next film WICKED.

Continuing his worldwide dominance, Abel has become the first artist in Spotify history to reach 100 million monthly listeners.

Timbaland has been hard at work recently. Ahead of being honored with the Pioneer Award at Variety’s second annual Miami Entertainment Town event, Timbo spoke with the publication and revealed that he has worked on new albums with Missy Elliott and Justin Timberlake.

Timberlake hasn’t released an album since 2018’s Man of the Woods, but that drought will soon be over with music that Timbaland says mirrors Future Sex/Love Sounds.

“We just finished up and everything sounds great,” Timbaland said. “Now it’s really on him how and when he envisions it to come out, but it’s done and it’s coming.”

He added, “It’s like ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’ but nothing too heavy, just giving you what you expect from us.”

Regarding Missy Elliott, Timbaland stated the album is being aimed for a summer release. “We’ve got a lot of songs we’re gonna start recording soon, and my dream is to have it out around her birthday in July. I want it to sound how she looks — she looks incredible right now.”

Another man has been arrested for the murder of Chicago rapper FBG Duck. 33-year-old Ralph Turpin, known as “Tall” or “Teezy,” was charged with committing a murder in aid of racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering.

According to WLS-TV Chicago, Turpin is the sixth man charged. He joins Charles “C Murda” Liggins, 30; Kenneth “Kenny” Robinson, 28; Tacarlos “Los” Offerd, 30; Christopher “C Thang” Thomas, 22; and Marcus “Muwop” Smart, 22.

The arrest and charges come months after Duck’s mother, LaSheena Weekly, stated additional arrests were coming. FBG Duck was shot in the chest, groin, and neck, killing him and injuring two others in a robbery on Chicago’s Gold Coast. He was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital after receiving as many as 21 gunshot wounds during the attack outside of Dolce & Gabanna.

The shooting left 38 bullet casings at the scene and happened over the course of 15 seconds.

A legendary Hip Hop artist is jumping into the liquor industry.  Nelly has started his own moonshine brand.  The Grammy Award-winning rapper calls his new beverage, MoShine.

Last week, at WSWA Access Live in Orlando, Florida, MoShine was introduced to the public.  The St. Louis, Missouri native named the brand after his hometown.  The “Hot in Herre” rapper joined forces with Piedmont Distillers to make the product come to life.  As of right now, MoShine has a few different flavors, including passion fruit and peach.  In a press release about the new drink, Nelly is trying to make this the drink of all parties.

It looks like beef is stirring up between BIA and Burna Boy.  In case you missed it, a few years ago, BIA spoke with Nicki Minaj on Live, stating she did not know what WizKid, Davido, or Burna Boy looked like.  The Grammy-winning artist did not forget that.

He just had a verse on the song “Mera Na,” in which his fans assume a few lines are for the “Whole Lotta Money” rapper.  At the end of his verse, Burna Boy allegedly addresses BIA.

An international feud seems to be brewing.  Actually, “Mera Na” has seen instant success.  It has been viewed over 14 million times on YouTube in 24 hours, with millions of comments and likes.  Sidhu Moose Wala was an Indian rapper who was killed in May of 2022.  “Mera Na” is his third posthumous single, and he was able to fulfill one of his wishes.  Sidhu always wanted to make music with Burna Boy, and now they have a hit!

Juvenile Hell was the first album by duo Mobb Deep that paved the path for many other East Coast rappers of their genre, which only a few know preceded their most revered LP, The Infamous.

Dubbed as one of the most acclaimed East Coast rap duos of all time, MCs Havoc and Prodigy came together to release their first album, Juvenile Hell on this day, April 13, 1993. Hailing from Queensbridge Housing projects in New York City, Mobb Deep was rather young when they released their first album, at the early age of 19.

At the time of its’ release, Juvenile Hell wasn’t received on groundbreaking levels. The new sound of the duo was too hardcore for some, very street-oriented, and the album provided one major single entitled “Hit it from the Back”; which peaked at 18 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart that same year. It wouldn’t be until later that Mobb Deep would become a Hip Hop classic and household name. In time they have gained longevity with their sound inspiring practically all other east coast rappers of their caliber. Had it not been for their first album, and their street poetry over tracks produced by the likes of DJ Premier and Large Professor, the map would never have been drawn for much of the major East Coast sound.

Meek Mill’s Atlanta home is officially sold, but it’s staying in the Maybach Music family as Rick Ross has copped the crib for a cool $4.2 million.

According to WSB-TV, luxury realtor Alisha Gillooly revealed the sale of the Buckhead mansion. All $4.2 million was paid in cash.

The crib has nine bathrooms, a movie theater, sauna, outdoor pool, jacuzzi, tennis court, playground, and double garages.

“MANSION FOR SALE IN ATL my realtor not getting this off fast enough & I think I can lol I never moved in it had for a few years,” Meek wrote last month.

“Sandy springs/buckhead area! When somebody get traded to the hawks or falcons come grab this Jawn! I’m not even gone tag who shot this shitty video lol!”

Jamie Foxx was hospitalized on Tuesday with a medical complication, his daughter Corinne Foxx revealed in a statement.

“We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” the statement read. “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery.

“We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”

Additional details have not been revealed, but a source close to TMZ stated the event happened Tuesday morning and “He’s communicating now, and that’s good news.”

Since the Mount Vernon rapper tragically passed away, his longtime record label has kept his name alive.  His first posthumous album, Exodus, was released a month after his death.  It featured many artists he has collaborated with, such as Swizz Beatz, Jay-Z, Nas, and The LOX.  Usher, Snoop Dogg, Alicia Keys, Moneybagg Yo, Lil Wayne, and the Griselda gang also featured on the album.

Doja Cat is speaking out about how she feels about losing her verified blue check on Twitter. Elon Musk announced the removal of verification badges from legacy accounts not interested in forking over $8 for Twitter Blue. Doja Cat’s verification has been recently removed, and she does not care. 

Shortly after, a fan responded to one of her tweets, stating, “No blue check,” Doja tweeted, “Having a blue tick now means there’s a higher chance that you’re a complete loser and that you’re desperate for validation from famous people.”

Doja has previously expressed her displeasure with the social media platform. Late last year, she changed her account name to “Christmas,” only for Elon to immediately implement a rule banning verified accounts from changing their display names to keep them from impersonating other users. How did this rule affect Doja? Well, her display name was stuck for a while as “Christmas.”

Doja put out a voice recording where she stated, “You guys are paying $8 a month to come on here and go to war with people who are not in agreement with who your favorite pop star is. You’re paying $8 a month to come on here and say shit like ‘byeee.’ Um, you’re coming on here for $8 a month to post porn and then get into an argument. I think I can stop there. Ok, cool. Bye.”

In an exclusive interview with Big Boy for the Untold Stories of Snoop Dogg, the Doggfather himself delved into the strained relationship between him and Death Row labelmate Tupac Shakur in the months leading up to his untimely demise in September 1996.

He says he and ‘Pac were on good terms the week before his death, but the public comments made about Puff Daddy and Biggie made things more complicated for the Long Beach newcomer.

“Man, I’d say a week before he died, we was best of friends. Two days before he died, I don’t think he liked me,” Snoop said. “Because we was in New York and shit had happened. New York n-ggas had shot at me and did all kinds of shit to me, just the worst shit you could think of, and I forgave ’em.”

Snoop added, “Then I went and did an interview and was asked how did I feel about Puffy and Biggie. I was like, ‘I like them n-ggas, I wanna do some music with ’em. And that just rubbed cuz the wrong way, like, ‘N-gga, fuck them n-ggas, them n-ggas tried to kill me. N-ggas shot at you, and you talking about you wanna do a song with them n-ggas?’”

The federal investigation of Shanquella Robinson, a North Carolina woman who suffered a mysterious death during a trip to Mexico with friends, will conclude without levying charges against anyone.

According to ABC News, U.S. Attorneys Sandra J. Hairston and Dena J. King stated the case would have to “beyond a reasonable doubt, that a federal crime was committed.” That evidence is currently unfounded.

“Based on the results of the autopsy and after a careful deliberation and review of the investigative materials by both U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, federal prosecutors informed Ms. Robinson’s family today that the available evidence does not support a federal prosecution,” the attorneys wrote in a statement.

In November 2022, Shanquella Robinson’s death was under full investigation by Mexican authorities. According to the Charlotte Observer, an arrest warrant was issued in connection to the death of Robinson last October in Cabo, Mexico.

Mexican prosecutors have issued the warrant nearly a month after Robinson was found dead in her hotel room. A suspect has not been named, but Baja California Sur prosecutor, Daniel de la Rosa Anaya, stated it was a “friend.”

“This case is fully clarified,” de la Rosa Anaya said. “We even have a court order, there is an arrest warrant issued for the crime of femicide to the detriment of the victim against an alleged perpetrator, a friend of her who is the direct aggressor.”

The World Health Organization categorizes femicide as the “intentional murder of women because they are women.”

Robinson arrived in Cabo on Oct. 28 and was found dead a day later. Her friends told her family that she died from alcohol poisoning, but an autopsy revealed severe spinal cord injury. A video on social media shows Robinson being beaten in a hotel room.

It looks like YFN Lucci is living his best life behind bars.

A video recently surfaced online of the Atlanta rapper pouring up lean in his jail cell, seeing Lucci recording himself pouring purple liquid into another bottle that’s labeled ginger ale. He’s then seen mixing the bottle up and grabbing a stack of styrofoam cups before the camera cuts off.

YFN Lucci is currently detained at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, awaiting trial for murder and RICO charges. Dating back to the top of 2021, a warrant was issued for Lucci’s arrest due to his connection to the shooting of James Adams, who passed away at 28 years old.

Lucci, real name Rayshawn Lamar Bennett turned himself in, consequently charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, participation in criminal street gang activity, and possession of a firearm. After posting bail, Lucci was one of the names in a sprawling, 105-count racketeering indictment focused on factions of the Bloods gang. He turned himself in in May of 2021 and attempted to post bail again, but the judge denied it.

Last year in February, Lucci was stabbed by a fellow inmate while behind bars. Allegedly, two YSL associates were behind the attack. Even so, Lucci posted to his Instagram last month that he would not testify against Young Thug. He wrote, “Even in a earthquake we wouldn’t break n-gga know we solid #Free650.”

Lucci’s lawyer continues to claim his innocence. He tells WSB-TV, “He’s not a gang member. What he is is an internationally recognized musical artist that is a triple platinum winner, that has performed all over the United States and all over the world.”

Lucci is best known for hit singles “Wet,” “At My Best,” “Everyday We Lit” with PnB Rock, and more.

The “White Iverson” recording artist has designed his own, one-of-a-kind Raising Cane’s joint in Utah where he currently resides, making it all pink and Post Malone-themed. They even deem it a “complete visual restaurant takeover.”

Post Malone’s designs will be featured everywhere from the parking to the bathrooms inside the building, to even the packaging that the chicken tenders will be served in. Their typically exterior brick design has been replaced with a 360 pink wrap, decorated with pictures of Post Malone’s tattoos and a stainless steel ‘1’ tower. Showcasing his love for cars as well, a Classic 1974 Ford F250 with a custom license plate sits outside as a permanent fixture.

Inside the restaurant will be endless decor that reflects Post Malone’s style, as well as outfits he’s worn and some of his personal guitars. The restrooms will be medieval-themed, showcasing Post Malone’s genuine interest in medieval armor. 

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is an American fast-food restaurant chain that only serves chicken fingers, originally founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. But with this new location, it’ll definitely draw in more than just chicken lovers — undoubtedly set to attract some of Post Malone’s die-hard fans.

The “Everything To Me” singer is on her R&B experience tour, which had a stop in Washington, D.C.  Monica was confused about why the fight was going on because she was singing a love ballad at the time.

Meek Mill continues to do the work in his community.  This past weekend, the Championships rapper hosted a Community Day of Action. The Community Day of Action serves as a means to help former felons be active in society.  The one-day event included many things. This includes mental health services, employment opportunities, expungement services, and housing assistance.

The day was not only for ex-convicts but also open to the public. There was music, food, and activities for everyone. This is an important day that is a part of Second Chance Month. On March 31st, in which President Joe Biden recently named April Second Chance Month.  Second Chance Month is dedicated to helping people who were affected by the judicial system. Philadelphia council member Katherine Gilmore-Richardson believes in the importance of engagement.

“It’s important that we engage the population in our city. most importantly that we engage our reformed population so they know they have an opportunity and there’s a better chance out there next time.”

This isn’t the first time Meek Mill & the REFORM alliance have done an event. A few months ago, the organization went to Virginia State University to discuss Criminal Justice.  REFORM has plans to continue to travel to spread the news.

New York rapper Lil Mama and reality TV personality Sukihana have had a recent back-and-forth on social media.  Sukihana recently appeared in NLE Choppa’s new video for his song, “Slut Me Out (Remix).”  In one scene, the Love & Hip-Hop star can be seen on all fours while NLE Choppa pulls her hair.  Rapper Sexy Redd was on all fours as well, next to Sukihana.

Lil Mama took to Twitter to discuss the scene, but she deleted the post shortly after.  But it was too late as Sukihana saw the comment and decided to respond.

The beef between Atlanta-based crews YFN and YSL goes back almost a decade to 2015 when Donovan “Big Nut” Thomas was killed in a drive-by shooting. This rift has caused almost 50 untimely deaths, and indictments handed down to both Young Thug and YFN Lucci, with both sides behind bars during the infamous YSL RICO trial. Now, the beef has spilled over into prison.

Footage has surfaced online of an inmate who’s an alleged affiliate of YFN beating a YSL member while he was tied to a facility toilet. The victim’s mouth was covered, and could be seen screaming in pain after every hit. In the end, it appears that the YFN member tried to peel off the YSL member’s crew tattoo with a razor. The entire incident was recorded by the assailant.

According to Dirt.com, Rih’s new digs is four bedrooms and six and a half baths across 9,290 square feet. The penthouse crib takes up the entire 40th floor of its building.

The home was originally placed on the market by Nick Molnar for $28 million, before closing at $21 million on March 31.

The home’s elevator opens into an entry gallery. The home has floor-to-ceiling windows with skyline views, marble countertops, and premium appliances. Also included are a movie theater, dual bespoke closets, a private lounge, and more.

Days after he shared a photo next to Donald Trump, DJ Akademiks signed an exclusive streaming deal with a right-winged streaming company named Rumble.

The streaming factory hosts controversial and right winged companies like Sean Hannity and Donald Trump’s Truth Social. The company that bills itself as “immune to cancel culture” announces that Akademiks will be on the platform “three to five days a week,” sharing his take on top headlines and continuing to cover Hip-Hop.

“I look forward to being one of the first to bring music and cultural conversations to a platform like Rumble,” Akademiks said. “There have been many bad decisions at larger platforms where they haven’t put creators first and they are disconnected to the community. I feel now is an inflection point for streaming platforms. I couldn’t be more excited to lead this effort on a platform that puts creators first.”

Rumble Chairman and CEO Chri Pavlovski added, “Akademiks is one of the most influential personalities in the hip hop and cultural world. Having him on Rumble sends a big statement to the other platforms on how serious we are in getting into different channels of content, from sports to music to culture.”

In a less-official statement, AK hit Twitter and sent a warning shot to those speaking against his new deal:

Several reports have confirmed that Richmond Virginia rapper EGYPXN shot his mother, sister and younger brother following a forced home entry, sending his family members to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. All of this occurred the day of the release of his new music video “Be Free”, which was pre-scheduled.

The shooting launch a city-wide man hunt for the rapper after he was identified as a suspect. EGYPXN was later engaged in a shootout with police, resulting in the injury of one police officer and the death of the troubled rapper when officers returned fire.

It is unclear what caused the domestic disturbance that initiated the shooting, but the tragedy didn’t put a halt on the release of his new video, which has already garnered 16K views since the beginning of the month.

Toronto Blue Jays infielder Santiago Espinal, an All-Star last year, has also joined Rimas Sports.

In more Trump & Hip-Hop. Did you know that Meek Mill and former President Donald Trump have the same lawyer? On hand at arraignment was Trump’s band of lawyers, including Joe Tacopina, who previously represented the “Dreams & Nightmares” rapper.

Seeing the courtroom picture of Trump online, Meek grabbed it and brought it to his Instagram story to cosign how skilled Tacopina is as a lawyer and throw some attributes to Trump’s credit.

“Trump graduated from the streets…sharing criminal lawyers as ys [with us]…Joe Tactical.”

Tory Lanez will have to wait a bit longer for his sentencing in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.

According to NBC News, Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, has another delay in his sentencing, while his legal team attempts to secure him a new trial.

This is one of the multiple sentencing delays for Lanez. With a new legal team in place and issuing a request for a new trial, the sentencing is once again on hold. Meanwhile, Lanez remains inside Los Angeles County Jail.

Lanez was convicted in December for assault with a semi-automatic firearm, discharging a firearm with gross negligence, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He is facing a max prison time just short of 23 years.

We sitting on the floor because we didn’t have furniture. She came and told me ‘I can’t be with you no more.’ Guess what this nigga did? He was a truck driver making $7K a month, $12K a month.”

Last year, Brookyn rapper Nasir Fisher aka Nas Blixky was shot and killed in Brooklyn and today, one of his friends was arrested and charged with trying to avenge the drill rapper’s death.

Taj Zeigler, 22, was charged on Friday with attempting to shoot the man believed to be responsible for Nas Blixky’s death. Zeigler is currently being held in Brooklyn’s Federal Detention Center.

It has been reported that no one was injured in the shooting.

Zeigler was identified in video surveillance at the crime scene and was charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition.

Jones spoke to AHH owner Chuck Creekmur about a time in the legendary Baseline Studios with the old Roc-A-Fella team, saying, “We were right in Harlem, so we ain’t have to cross no bridges or nothing to get there. It was literally a seven-minute ride to get down there. We used to come in there all the time. Me piling in there with like 20 Bloods with me.” 

Jones said, “[Jay-Z] looking at me like I’m crazy. One day I came in there with so many Bloods, Jay was like, ‘Come here, come here, come here.’ Like he was my uncle.”

According to the Harlem rapper, Hov said, “I’m not worried about all the Bloods you bring here. I don’t care about none of that. But when you bring the gangsters in here, make sure the gangsters holler at me before anything else ’cause this is my house.”

April 10, 1990, was the release date of a cornerstone in hip-hop music: Public Enemy’s Fear of a Black Planet. Still known as one of the most empowering albums of its time, the album was written during a pivotal era both in America and in music: the Golden Age of Hip Hop.

Preceding the time when samples required clearance and approval to be used in sample-based music, the album is layered heavily with elements providing space and depth to levels of complexity previously unheard. Fear of a Black Planet‘s production team, The Bomb Squad, worked tirelessly to bring their signature sound to the album.  As Rolling Stone’s Christopher Weingarten said in an interview late last year with leading Public Enemy MC Chuck D, it was one of the…

“most sonically adventurous and politically stirring records of all time.”

Within the first week of release, the album sold more than a million copies, coming in at number 10 on Billboard’s Top Pop Albums chart.  Commenting on several racially and politically engaging topics was the goal of the album, and the track that said it best was “Fight The Power.”  The deep rhymes and intense verbiage used by Chuck in revolutionary poetry made the track not only what the group became known for, but also their critically acclaimed anthem.

Used by director Spike Lee for his film Do The Right Thing, who also filmed this music video, this track alone could be used to describe this legendary album.  Fear of a Black Planet was later listed as Rolling Stone’s 300th greatest record of all time.

Ahead of its time to say the least, A Tribe Called Quest’s experimental, alternative, jazz rap was originally unappreciated by mainstream audiences. It took six years for the Tribe’s first album to hit gold. The album might not have been a huge commercial success at first, but their innovative and comedic sound beautifully balanced the light-hearted social consciousness of their tracks. Although “People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm” was critically acclaimed, some critics felt that the inspired lyricism and unique humor was at times overshadowed by the group’s immaturity and lack of focus. Their debut album did, however, generate buzz within the Alternative Hip Hop community that has gained them a devout cult following. Today “People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm” is certified gold, and in The Source Magazines’s 100 Best Rap Albums. Other accolades include a 5 mic rating from The Source, 4 stars out of 5 by The Rolling Stone Album Guide, and a 3.5 out of 4 stars by the Chicago Tribune.

Regardless of which generation you belong to, every true Hip Hop fan can remember the first time they heard “Can I kick It?” by saying “yes I can!”…and how it changed their perception of the genre. Chloë is not new to this. Making the runs to support her new album in Pieces, the rising star shared an image of her with Beyonce when she was five years old.

Chloë was a guest on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and detailed working with the global superstar for The Fighting Temptations. “She was so nice to me, and even at the wrap party, she’d hold me, and we’d dance the night away,” Chloë said.

To close March, Chlöe dropped her debut album, In Pieces. The new 14-track album features Missy Elliott, Chris Brown, and Future.

The In Pieces cover brings Bailey holding a heart in her hand while wearing a white dress. In a separate note, Bailey revealed the album is developed to connect with her fans.

Sneaker News noticed the return of the collective, a page that started as Yeezy sneaker resellers, branching out to becoming a source of all adidas and Yeezy partnered projects.

The page was silent for five months before this return.
