Timbaland has been hard at work recently. Ahead of being honored with the Pioneer Award at Variety’s second annual Miami Entertainment Town event, Timbo spoke with the publication and revealed that he has worked on new albums with Missy Elliott and Justin Timberlake.

Timberlake hasn’t released an album since 2018’s Man of the Woods, but that drought will soon be over with music that Timbaland says mirrors Future Sex/Love Sounds.

“We just finished up and everything sounds great,” Timbaland said. “Now it’s really on him how and when he envisions it to come out, but it’s done and it’s coming.”

He added, “It’s like ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’ but nothing too heavy, just giving you what you expect from us.”

Regarding Missy Elliott, Timbaland stated the album is being aimed for a summer release. “We’ve got a lot of songs we’re gonna start recording soon, and my dream is to have it out around her birthday in July. I want it to sound how she looks — she looks incredible right now.”

She may be the queen of R&B, but Mary J Blige expressed some concerns about the current state of her kingdom (queendom?) on a spirited discussion with Diddy on IG live in which she claims that pop music killed the R&B genre.

Diddy took to IG live on this week via Hollywood Unlocked after he had asked his followers: “Who killed R&B?” Mary J Blige joined him for a live session (which is archived here) to discuss her thoughts on the genre’s current state and how it got there.

Of R&B being “killed,” she said that “You can’t kill something that’s in our DNA. It’s going to keep transitioning from generation to generation to generation,” noting how many people her age have passed down a love of the genre to their children.

She did however, note that many mainstream radio stations have tried to kill R&B, or at least change the genre to be more in line with mainstream taste.

She first thanked the radio stations around the country that play and support R&B music before explaining that radio stations tend to jump on the bandwagon and play whatever is popular.

She said that the radio stations call it “popular music” when artists like Justin Timberlake and Adele get ahold of it, before explaining that “it [R&B] has been popular music.”

She stated that R&B can’t be killed, explaining that “we have to keep ourselves alive. You can’t kill us because we’re already in the system, in the bloodline, the DNA.”

She cited many popular R&B artists including Chris Brown, Chaka Khan, Etta James, Usher, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, Jazmine Sullivan, and SWV that have not been “killed” and are keeping the genre alive.

She also encouraged R&B fans not to be “sheep” and get angry at the radio stations, but rather be shepherds and promote the genre and request more R&B on mainstream radio.

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland faced off for their epic Verzuz rematch over the weekend, and Swizz made headlines after calling Justin Timberlake out.

After Timbo played “Sexy Back” and “Cry Me a River” the Ruff Ryder said, “He gotta admit that he loves the Black culture and he gotta be on this stage…you took from the Black culture, you give to the Black culture! Come to Verzuz and be a part of the Black culture!” 

Swizz and Timbaland later went on Instagram live, and the Virginia native told Beatz he “did go a little hard on my brother JT, though,” to which Swizz responded, “Look man, I had to go hard. You heard how them songs were sounding on that stage? It was like JT was in the building. I was like, ‘Man!’”

“You know it’s hip hop,” he continued. “And I was just having fun. I don’t got no problem with JT, I don’t got no problem with nobody. We just having fun. It’s called Verzuz. You know, we doing our thing. Shoutout to JT. We can’t wait to get you on stage having fun cause you deserve it too.”

Justin Timberlake made headlines over the weekend for his lengthy, underwhelming, dated apology to Janet Jackson and his ex-girlfriend, Britney Spears.

The NSYNC singer faced backlash in light of The New York Times’ Framing Britney documentary which revisited the way he handled their break up. Fans couldn’t help but unearth his controversial halftime performance with Janet Jackson when JT exposed her breast to the world but she received most (if not all) of the backlash.

“I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond,”Justin wrote. “I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism.”

Fans began outpouring support for the female icons including Tinashe who cites Janet and Britney as her idols. “Anyone who knows me knows Britney Spears and Janet Jackson are literally my two biggest idols in the whole universe and I just hope they know how much they mean to me/us,” she wrote.

Janet Jackson hopped in the comment section and left a black heart and hug emoji. “We love you, Queen,” Tinashe replied with a crown emoji and red heart emoji.

Janet Jackson’s reaction was subtle but it’s a clear indication that she’s aware that she’s trending and is seemingly appreciative.

She presumably has a lot more to say behind closed doors but this was long overdue.

Justin Timberlake issued a lengthy apology to his ex-girlfriend, Britney Spears, and Super Bowl co-performer, Janet Jackson.

Every year around the Super Bowl someone revisits Janet Jackson’s 2004 “wardrobe malfunction” that was at the hands of Justin Timberlake.

Although Justin was the one who exposed her breast, Janet’s career took a hit and the Federal Communication Commission launched an aggressive investigation.

He was accused of sexism and misogyny for the way he navigated that situation, in addition to the way he treated his former girlfriend Britney Spears.

The Man of the Woods singer wrote a lengthy apology on Instagram in wake of these accusations.

“I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond,”Justin wrote. “I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism.”

“I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed.”

Both incidents are over 20 years old, but his teenage relationship with Spears resurfaced in her Framing Britney Spearsdocumentary. The film focused on her conservatorship and the way the media treated her after JT publicly admitted to them sleeping together after she claimed she was waiting for marriage. Additionally, he vaguely accused her of cheating on him and dissed her in his “Cry Me A River” music video.

Justin Timberlake concluded, “I also feel compelled to respond, in part, because everyone involved deserves better and most importantly because this is a larger conversation that I wholeheartedly want to be part of and grow from.”

Pharrell Williams was the latest guest on Drink Champs and he shared a lot of never-before-heard stories during the three-hour conversation.

On top of revisiting the story that his JAY-Z-assisted hit single, “Frontin” was originally written for Prince, he revealed that songs he wrote for a late pop icon went to another pop singer.

“You hit me and said, ‘Yo, I just sent Michael Jackson some beats!’,” N.O.R.E. recalled while chatting with Pharrell. “You said to me, ‘He told me, “NOPE! I don’t think N.O.R.E. would rhyme on that. I was like, ‘My life is done!'”

The super producer added, “John McClain was his manager at the time. We sent him pretty much all the stuff you guys are hearing on the first Justified album — that’s all Michael stuff,” the performer, songwriter and record producer revealed. “All but one song, they were written for Michael.”

“John McClain was like, ‘Man, Michael don’t want that s–t! He want the s–t you givin’ Noreaga!'” Pharrell continued, noting that this was right before the King of Pop’s “You Rock My World” era. He also shared that it was one of his collaborations with N.O.R.E. that Jackson wanted. ” He was like, ‘Yo, he want that “Superthug.”‘

The rejection turned out to be a huge score for JT’s solo career. Justified was released in 2002, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, and has since been certified triple platinum.

After Amanda Seales blasted Justin Timberlake for half-stepping, he’s been using his platform to make passionate pleas for change.

The singer joined Taylor Swift to call for the removal of Confederate memorials. “When we protest racism in America, people think we are protesting America itself. Why is that the reaction? Because America was built by men who believed in and benefitted from racism. Plain and simple,” Timberlake wrote. “If we plan to move forward, these confederate monuments must come down.”

JT was reacting to a post from ACLU that noted statues of Confederate general and KKK leader Nathaniel Bedford is still standing tall in the Tennessee State House.

Last month Swift called on the Capitol Commission and the Tennessee Historical Commission to permanently remove the statues of two Confederate figures, Edward Carmack and Nathan Bedford Forrest.

“Taking down statues isn’t going to fix centuries of systemic oppression, violence and hatred that black people have had to endure but it might bring us one small step closer to making ALL Tennesseans and visitors to our state feel safe – not just the white ones,” Swift wrote as part of her lengthy argument. “We need to retroactively change the status of people who perpetuated hideous patterns of racism from ‘heroes’ to ‘villains.’ And villains don’t deserve statues.”

President Donald Trump has defended the monuments memorializing Confederate figures and vowed to veto any bill that proposes renaming military bases that are originally named after Confederate leaders.

JT posted a black and white photo of Arbery smiling and the caption simply read, “If you’re not outraged, you should be. Justice for #AhmaudArbery.”

Instead of an epic video rant, the actress serenaded her 1 million followers with her own rendition of Teddy Pendergrass’ “Turn Off The Lights.”

“This goes out to all the white celebrities…ya see I turned off my comments because I got tired of arguing with racists. But you know what? It’s your turn.”

She captioned the video, “Turn On the Comments. Dedicated to @justintimberlake and the white artists showing “solidarity” posting about #ahmaudarbery but closing their comments/IG replies. Ain’t no half steppin. This is how you ally. You get in the weeds with your fans who are also fans of racist rhetoric. #TURNEMON“

Arbery is a 25-year-old Black man who was gunned down while jogging near Brunswick, Georgia in February. Gregory and Travis McMichael were arrested and charged for aggravated assault and murder.

He was spotted in the studio with record-breaking rapper, Lizzo, in August and the caption read, “Lizzo flames, brb.” The “Truth Hurts” rapper also posted footage of their jam session to her Instagram story and the caption read, “Did some Rap Sh*t wiff JT.”

“I just called my publishers and I said, ‘You know, I just want to work with young, fresh people, and I want to collaborate more. I’ve been songwriting and producing for so long — I want to experience that energy, and I want to work with people that I think are truly amazing,” Justin shared with HipHopNMore. He also touched on his forthcoming effort with Lizzo: “I think she thought I was lying, but we got in and we got a couple of ideas,” he teased. “I’m not going to tell you too much about what we did together in the studio. If she wants to tell you she can, but it’s flames. It is so good. I am so excited about it.”

He also teased a Meek Mill collaboration on his Instagram account with a photograph of them two talking as he donned a T-shirt that read: “Do you miss me?” in the back. The caption read, “Building.”

Earlier today we caught a glimpse of Justin Timberlake and Lizzo dancing to a song in the studio.

The “Truth Hurts” songstress posted a video on her Instagram story saying that she did some “Hip-Hop ish” with JT. The “Suit & Tie” artist has given us some classic jams throughout his career. Most of these hits have had Hip-Hop influences, but would be considered an R&B or Pop record.

There was a prominent rapper in the room, playing a very incognito like role at the time of the recording. Meek Mill was spotted in the back. While Meek was only blowing his nose, his presence on the potential record is a strong possibility. The “Championships” rapper doesn’t seem like the type of crash a studio session unless he was making a potential hit.

The video only shows a snippet of the song. The song in the video could not have been what they were working on. The only conclusions that can be made are from the faces we see in the studio. She has collaborated with legends like Missy Elliot on her latest album Cuz I Love You. Therefore, it is no surprise to a possible collab with JT.

Missy Elliott made history over the weekend becoming the first Hip-Hop artist to receive an honorary degree from Berklee College of Music, the nation’s elite music conservatory.

During her acceptance speech, the pioneering producer, songwriter, singer, and rapper spoke overcoming the odds while navigating her way through the music industry. She left the students with a hopeful message. “There will be ups and downs — prepare for that, but don’t give up,” she said. “As long as you are breathing, it is never too late. Don’t forget that. You have come too far to quit.”

Justin Timberlake will expand his portfolio of work back into television with his latest creation, a game show titled Spin the Wheel. Deadline reports the show was created by Timberlake and Andrew Glassman, who assisted in The Wall, while Dax Shepard will serve as the host of the show.

The new show was picked up by Fox and will offer the opportunity to win over $20 million per episode, and is designed to expand the type of shows that are broadcast by the network.

Spin the Wheel will have contests answer trivia questions that will allow players to place the opportunity to win cash in strategic places on the wheel. However, if an answer is wrong it can quickly bring you back to zero. The game is designed to test the decision-making process of contestants to continue spinning the wheel or make off with the money you have made.

“This show is massive on so many levels and has the ability to change people’s lives,” said Rob Wade, Fox’s President, Alternative Entertainment and Specials. “We have a charismatic and hilarious host in Dax, an uber-producer in Andrew, an insanely creative global superstar in Justin and one of the biggest prizes in primetime history.”

Justin Timberlake is a man of many things — singer, dancer, actor and “of the woods” being the most recent. However, it looks like the Runner Runner frontman might be adding a new a.k.a. to his brand: sneakerhead!

The latest release in his ongoing Jordan Brand deal that launched at Super Bowl LII, the new Air Jordan 3 JTH “Bio Beige” plays right off the hay fields seen throughout the Man of the Woods album promo. Actually, the shoe is adorned with the words “HIGHER” on the inner heel collar; “Higher Higher” just so happens to be the name of the album’s fifth track. Other album tie-ins include a “Stress Is Cruel” / “Fame Is A Lie” motif on the insoles that quote lyrics from the aforementioned album cut. JT shares the light with Tinker Hatfield though, who he collaborated directly with on all the 3s he’s released so far. Hatfield’s signature makes its way on the hangtag and inner tongue, which compliments the tan suede upper perfectly. A tan reflective Swoosh and raw-hemmed leather laces really give things a clean finish, so we’ve got to give props to Justin for this one.

2018 has been an enormous year for releases in music. Two of the biggest came from Justin Timberlake and Drake, who dropped at the top of the year and last week, respectively. The two have linked to blend fan bases before on 2013’s “Cabaret” from the second part of The 20/20 Experience and appear to be getting ready for another collaboration.

Speaking with Complex, the Tennessee Kid spoke on the possibility of new music from the two, stating that they have been in conversation about what they could come up with. The details were shared when Timberlake detailed the music he has wrapped his ears around. After showing some love to the G.O.O.D. Music heavy month of June, Justin turns to Scorpion and shares some love while also teasing the new music possibility.

“I love Scorpion, I think it literally just like answered anything. I think The Boy came correct with that one. We’ve talked about [collaborating again] a lot. I don’t wanna say too much because I don’t wanna jinx it, but we’ve talked about it a lot,” Timberlake shared.

To add to the speculation, Justin Timberlake has shared on Instagram an image of him along with two go-to Drake collaborators in Nineteen85 and James Fauntleroy.

While people may be making jokes about Yeezy’s choice of venue, he might actually be onto something. And he’s not the first artist to break away from the traditional album listening party set up.

People gathered around a bonfire in an open field in Utah’s comfortable mid-60’s temperature. And due to its northern location and proximity to the western edge of the Mountain Standard time line, Jackson Hole is known to remain light until almost 10 p.m. MDT. Thus, Yeezy’s listening audience stood anxiously in the daylight for hours until the sun went down.

As far as being lit? Well, Wyoming is one of the few states known for being able to see the northern lights.

Although Kanye is always known for acting outside the norm, here are a few artists who broke the album-listening-party mold first.

Jay-Z: Until some serious advancements are made in the field of quantum physics, it’s virtually impossible to be in more than one place at one time. But that didn’t stop Jay-Z from delegating responsibility to several lucky DJs (and even more lucky fans) around the country when he held simultaneous launch parties for 4:44, each hosted by a different DJ throughout the country last June.

The Roots: Four years before backing up Phil Collins on what might be his most legendary performance of “In the Air Tonight,” The Roots eschewed the traditional listening party format for their album, …And Then You Shoot Your Cousin, with performance art in a pub. If the spoken poetry component and the five piece orchestra backed up by a didgeridoo wasn’t eclectic enough, the performance was punctuated by the spontaneous popping of thousands of balloon animals with nooses floating in from the ceiling, making it possibly the most “poppin’” performance of all times.

Justin Timberlake, former lead singer of pop boy band NSYNC performed at the halftime show for the 52nd Super Bowl and while his presence alone was already controversial, his performance was ruled as being nothing but disastrous by the masses.

This was Timberlake’s chance to redeem himself from his infamous Super Bowl performance 14 years ago when he “accidentally” ripped off a part of Janet Jackson‘s ensemble during the performance which resulted in a severe “nipplegate” incident deeming him intolerable by Jackson fans. He made an attempt to redeem himself by performing the same song, “Rock Your Body” and dropping out the lyric “bet I’ll have you naked by the end of this song.” The attempt was considered to be an avid failure at redemption.

His attempt to pay tribute to late music icon Prince was rather eerie being the concept of the performance was that of a phantom duet and the choice of song, “I Would Die For U” was sensibly, ghastly. Also, despite Prince’s widespread statements against Timberlake and his stark mindset against technology such as the use of holograms, the singer went on to make use of a video projection of the late legend along with an image of him of a large flowing sheet, which appeared as a generic version of a hologram.

Once drummer/singer and ex of Prince, Sheila E, and his brother Omarr Baker both immediately denounced the use of a Prince hologram assuring fans that such a thing will be absent from JT’s Super Bowl performance.

Not only were JT’s failed attempts to redeem himself with the audiences of music icons disastrous, but apparently production was also a graphic mess. The audio of Timberlake was sketchy making him almost impossible to hear, at times he was muted and nearly silenced while his backup singers were fluently audible. Perhaps his microphone was null?

Janet Jackson fans have not forgotten how Ms. Jackson was treated after the nipplegate scandal of Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004. On Sunday morning, fans around the world took to Twitter to create the hashtag #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay, sharing Janet Jackson clips, videos and GIFs, as well as stories of her positive impact. 

The social media movement was, in part, a response to the incident that took place when Justin Timberlake and Jackson performed together at the 2004 halftime show. During the performance, Justin Timerlake removed part of Jackson’s costume, exposing her breast. MTV, which produced the halftime show and its parent company, Viacom, essentially blacklisted Jackson and her music after the event. However, Timberlake didn’t get blacklisted – he floated through the controversy with his career un-bothered, for the most part.

This evening, Justin Timberlake will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show for the second time. Twitter has accordingly decided to transform Timberlake’s performance day to #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay.

Former beloved blue-eyed crooner turned the one Black Twitter loves to side-eye, Justin Timberlake has sat down with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 to discuss the misunderstanding within Black culture and more.

During the two-part interview, Timberlake touched on what it was like working with some of the biggest name in the game.

“It crazy being in this studio because this is where I worked with Jay [Z] on Marga Carta[Holy Grail] and Beyoncé as well, I wrote a few joints,” Timberlake said.

But it wasn’t all name dropping, JT dived into what fans should expect from his album and why he decided to go the direction more tailored to himself with this album.

“It feels good to make music for my son, because a lot of music I made previously he can’t listen to yet,” Justin said. “It was just good to have great people around me like Chad, Pharrell and Timbaland that really helped me decide what was great for my album.”

Justin also touched on how he feels like his intentions and words are often misconstrued and taken out of context.

ZANE: We get to a cornerstone on this record, Justin, that I’ve been looking forward to talking to you about. It’s one of the most powerful songs on the record. It’s called “Say Something.” It’s a collaboration with you and Chris Stapleton. Another one you guys co-wrote together taking what you’ve done onstage into the studio and giving us something forever. Is this song in some part from your point of view a reflection on recent misunderstandings and things that you’ve tried to say that have come from the heart and come from a good place but ultimately get twisted and turned and taken the wrong way?

JUSTIN: Sure, that’s part of it. We wrote the song almost a year ago and so a lot of weird things were happening and they still are in the world. It was the first song we wrote together and he kind of came in and I thought to myself, it would be really cool to see if we wrote something and we just let Timbaland and Danja just dress it and just see what happens. And he came in and he was talking to me and he was like, how’s everything been going? I played him a couple of things Pharrell and I had done and he was like wow, this is something different. And I said I really think we could do something special. He’s like, what do you want to write about? I said I feel like there’s a lot going on in the world. I feel like there’s always misunderstandings. I said and I want to speak up and I want to say something but I just don’t want to get caught in the rhythm of something because if the rhythm goes off, the train goes off the tracks. And he was just like, ok I’ll be right back. And he wrote those two lines down and then he sort took a second to himself. I think maybe with the notoriety that has come his way in recent years because he’s penned so many songs for so many artists on that side of the fence and now to be a solo artist, I think he’s starting to see that you can be in the middle of a storm of confusion.

ZANE: There is a line of the song which cuts right to it, please forgive me if I get it wrong I’ve only listened a few times..
JUSTIN: “sometimes the greatest way to say something, is to say nothing at all.”

In regards to the comments about Jesse Williams that caused the biggest Black Twitter drag of his career, Timberlake says he regrets his response and still questions how he handled things.

ZANE: The Jesse Williams thing. All these things that go on you find yourself like oh my gosh, I’ve got to correct this.
JUSTIN: For sure. And you feel terrible, like oh man that is not what I meant. Why did I do that?
ZANE: Right. Why did I do that in real life?
JUSTIN: Well you realize too that like patience really is a virtue. You have to learn that. Chris and I were having this whole conversation about like people don’t really care what we think, they just want to hear our music. It’s like well we care what we think. You really have this internal struggle with it. People can just say a bunch of sh** and then people go, well I believe that.
ZANE: Yeah
JUSTIN: you know, so it can be very confusing. I feel like that song is about that moment. And I think anybody can have it. You can have it on a level like you’re talking about or you can have it with your wife. You can have that with your son. And there’s been times when I’m managing a two and a half/ three year old right now, and you know what that’s like where all of a sudden they fly off the handle and you’re like you are acting like a complete animal.
ZANE: Oh yeah. And how do I communicate.
JUSTIN: Sometimes you just have to sit back and let them have that moment. And it’s true you don’t always accomplish the things you need to accomplish by jumping in and butting in. The song is really about it is about that internal struggle. But I think everybody can have it on any level.

Today, (Jan. 26.) Justin Timberlake released the third single for his upcoming Man of The Woods album titled “Say Something”. True to frequent collaborator Danja’s words, Timberlake looks to be stepping in more of a country direction, with “Say Something” featuring more of the genre’s vibe. In fact, the track features Chris Stapelton, who is one of country music’s brightest stars. The two previously collaborated on the 2013 track “Drink You Away”.

The track’s production features the work of Timbaland, Danja, and 1500 or Nothin’. The two previous singles released by Timberlake leading up to the album were “Filthy” and “Supplies”. “Filthy” was a Timbaland/Danja production that leaned more on the electro-pop side. “Supplies” produced by The Neptunes, appears to be geared for pop radio, Timberlake’s stomping grounds. Whether it is more traditional Timberlake sounds or country-themed, it will be interesting to see how diehard fans of Timberlake will receive his final product.

Man of The Woods is set to be released on Friday, February. 2.

In 2002, Justin Timberlake and The Neptunes (Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo) made pop magic with the release of Timberlake’s solo debut; Justified. Although fans of Timberlake rejoiced upon hearing the news that the iconic production duo would be creating tunes for Timberlake’s upcoming fifth album Man in the Woods, Timberlake addressed why the collaboration between he and the most notable member of The Neptunes, Pharrell, didn’t happen on his subsequent releases.

Per Timberlake, the root of the issue stemmed from label issues between record label Jive, and Clipse. Clipse was signed to The Neptunes’ Star Trak Entertainment which was distributed through Arista Records. In 2004, Arista went through a restructuring period, which tipped the Clipse toward Jive. Star Trak, on the other hand, became apart of Interscope.

I was not able to work with Pharrell… Everyone remembers Clipse. Clipse was signed to Jive Records, which I was also signed to. I don’t know what went on with their deal, but I do remember that Pharrell was very adamant about getting them out of the deal. So it became challenging for him to work with any Jive artist at that point. If I’m being totally honest about it, I was extremely hurt being caught up in the middle of it.

The label drama between Clipse and Jive resulted in delays of their second album, Hell Hath No Fury, released in 2006. While Pharrell was working on that album, Timberlake was already in the lab with Timbaland and Danja crafting FutureSex/LoveSounds. Nevertheless, it’s great that Pharrell will supply production for the first time in just over 15 years to Timberlake. Timberlake’s new album, Man of the Woods is scheduled to drop February 2.

The titles of the songs on the 16-track album sounds “earthy” like Pharrell Williams suggested in the album’s teaser. The album notably features Alicia Keys on a track titled, “Morning Light,” and Chris Stapleton on a song called, “Say Something.”

JT will be releasing three more singles from the album prior to its release, beginning on January 18th. Each single will be released with its visuals, directed by three different helmsman, to help set up the vibe for the singer’s “most ambitious album to date.”

Man of the Woods is slate for a February 2nd release date.

Enigmatic pop star Justin Timberlake announced yesterday that he will be releasing a new album, Man of the Woods.

The album’s due date is scheduled for a February 2 release, and collaborators are ranging from the past (The Neptunes) and new collaborations (Alicia Keys, Chris Stapleton). But, the release of his first single, “Filthy” will feature production from Danja and Timberland. The two produced the bulk of his iconic 2006 release, FutureSex/LoveSounds. The single is expected to be released Friday, January 5 and the reunion between the three will be much anticipated. Timberlake won’t stop there though, with intentions to roll out a total of four music videos leading up to the album’s release.

The Mark Romanek-directed music video for “Filthy,” which is described as being “dance-heavy,” “colorful” and “futuristic,” is set to feature Timberlake playing the role of an inventor presenting one of his latest creations to the world. Sounds epic.

Three more new videos helmed by three different directors will be released after the one for “Filthy” as the singer heads into the release of Man of the Woods, which is all set to drop on Feb. 2. That’s just two days before Timberlake takes the stage for the Pepsi Super Bowl LII Halftime Show on Sun., Feb. 4.

The anticipation of the sound Timberlake will go for will bring intrigue from the public. Because the collaborators for “Filthy” are Danja and Timbaland, anything less than a cohesive sound similar to FutureSex/LoveSounds will perhaps be seen as a letdown. Preorders for the album will begin January 5, as well.

Its been nearly five years since Justin Timberlake released his two part albums The 20/20 Experience and The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2. 

The singer announced in a one minute teaser the upcoming release of not only a new album titled Man of the Woods set to drop on February 2, two days before his Super Bowl halftime show performance, but also the release of a single on Friday, January 5.

In the teaser, Timberlake discuses over a voiceover his inspiration behind his fifth studio album Man of the Woods, alongside clips of various beautiful earthy, nature landscape shots, his wife Jessica Biel, his son, and a behind-the-scenes look of him in the studio. Timberlake explains, “This album is really inspired by my son, my wife, my family, but more so than any other album I’ve ever written, where I’m from, and it’s personal.”

Pharrell also makes an appearance in the video, which leads to the assumption that the artist will be involved in the production of Timberlake’s latest project. The pair have collaborated on several records together including JT’s “Señorita” and “Like I Love You” featuring Clipse. Pharrell excitingly refers to the background snippet we hear in the teaser that’s dropping this Friday, as a hit. “It feels so earthy, it’s just where you are in your life right now. That is a smash.”

Grammy Award-winning pop singer Justin Timberlake will headline the Super Bowl halftime show in February, 14 years after a “wardrobe malfunction” overshadowed his last gig at the championship game, the NFL said on Sunday.

This will mark Timberlake’s third time on the halftime stage, giving the “Can’t Stop The Feeling” singer the distinction of having the most appearances by an individual entertainer, the National Football League said in a statement.

The 10-times Grammy winner last performed at the Super Bowl in 2004 when he infamously ripped off part of Janet Jackson’s garment during their halftime show in Houston and briefly bared her breast.

The incident coined the phrase “wardrobe malfunction”

The Super Bowl is the most-watched event on U.S. television, drawing more than 100 million viewers. Previous halftime headliners include Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Madonna.

Justin Timberlake has been soaking up the summer sun at the ACC Pro-Am Celebrity Golf Tournament, where he’s knocked down birdie putts and hit his “Carlton Dance” with Carlton Banks himself–Alfonso Ribiero–and Steph Curry.

Unfortunately, not everything is peachy out in Lake Tahoe. TMZ has obtained video of a man lightly slapping the “Can’t Stop the Feeling” singer as he maneuvered through the golf course. Timberlake was visibly disturbed by the incident, and can be seen swiveling around to press the man that hit him–“Why would you do that?!”. Eventually, Justin kept it pushing, and declined to press charges when he was presented the opportunity.

Authorities allege that the man was inebriated, and was merely interested in touching one of the world’s biggest pop stars, but he got overzealous and his touch evolved into something slightly more irritating for Timberlake. He was arrested on disorderly conduct charges.

Despite being out for just one week, the song has debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100, giving Timberlake his 5th #1, and his first since 2006’s “What Goes Around…Comes Around.” In addition, “Can’t Stop The Feeling” becomes just the 26th song in the chart’s history to debut at #1 on the Hot 100, following in the footsteps of recent hits like Adele‘s “Hello,” Justin Bieber‘s “Sorry” and Zayn Malik‘s “PillowTalk.”

Despite the song’s success, it’s likely that “Can’t Stop The Feeling” will be relegated to the soundtrack for the upcoming animated film, Trolls, for which it was created. Timberlake has admitted that working on Trolls has inspired him to begin the process of making a new album–his fourth–and he’s been in the studio with Pharrell, Timbaland, and is working on a collaboration with The Weeknd.

After Rihanna’s nine-week reign atop the Billboard Hot 100, we’ve seen some significant shuffling in recent weeks. “Work” was unseated by “Panda,” which fell victim to the ascent of Drake‘s “One Dance” one week later, and this week we have a new #1 for a third consecutive week thanks to Timberlake’s dominance.

Justin Timberlake released his new single “Can’t Stop the Feeling” last week from the upcoming animated film Trolls and decided to perform the lively, uptempo song at this year’s Eurovision.

The annual European singing competition is the ideal way for Timberlake to promote the song, but before he performed his latest track, he took it back and began his set with “Rock Your Body,” reminding everyone just exactly why we love to see the singer perform.

Hosted by Sweden, the competition marks the first year Eurovision was broadcasted live in the United States.

Justin Timberlake has been all over headlines lately, and rightfully so. After dropping a single, “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” off the forthcoming Dreamworks animation film Trolls, news that Timberlake was working on a new album began to spread like wildfire. The former NSYNC lead singer is notorious for taking lengthy hiatuses between album, and it’s already been three years since he dropped two LPs, The 20/20 Experience 1 and 2. However, with photos of him in the studio with the only two producers to ever produce his albums, Pharrell Williams and Timbaland, surfacing all over social media, JT has admitted that he’s gearing up to drop another LP. In addition, we learned last week that he’s prepping to collaborate with The Weeknd, which is exciting news for fans of both artists.

In the meantime however, there’s promotion to be done for “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” and JT did just that as the special guest for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, a global competition involving over 40 singers all performing original music, this weekend. He also performed “Rock Your Body,” one of his biggest collabs with Skateboard P.

Justin Timberlake was quietly prepping a brand new album, his 5th, prior to the end of last week. Since Friday, however, information has been spilled into the open forums, and the world now knows that it will soon have another JT album, his first since his two album effort in 2013.

In an interview with Carson Daly last week, Timberlake confirmed that he is indeed working on a new album, which many suspected following the release of “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” the single Timberlake worked on for the upcoming Dreamworks animated film, Trolls. In recent weeks, Timberlake has been spotted in the studio with the two men that have produced his entire solo discography, Pharrell Williams and Timbaland, but admitted to not having a timetable for the release of a new LP.

During a recent interview with BBC Radio, Timberlake expounded on his album plans, and admitted that working on “Can’t Stop The Feeling” reignited his flame for the studio. He went on to discuss collaborators, and somewhat accidentally dropped a nugget about working with The Weeknd. “He’s working on an album right no– I don’t know if I was supposed to say that.”

Justin Timberlake is known for taking lengthy hiatuses between albums. His Justified album was released in 2002 and he didn’t reappear until 2006, when he released what’s regarded as his best work, the inventive FutureSex/LoveSounds album, produced entirely by Timbaland. 7 years later, Timberlake and Timbaland hooked back up for two more albums, The 20/20 Experience 1 and 2, both released in 2013.

So, 3 years is a relatively brief hiatus for Mr. Timberlake, but at midnight on Friday, the former N*SYNC frontman dropped a new single, “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” a feel-good radio-ready song that will appear on the official soundtrack for a forthcoming Dreamworks animated movie, Trolls. Though “Can’t Stop The Feeling” is an unlikely candidate for the lead single for Timberlake’s next campaign, the Memphis singer has revealed to radio jock Carson Daly that he is in fact working on a new album.

I don’t know exactly when I’m going to put it out, but yeah, I’m definitely working on a new album.

Timberlake went on to discuss some of the influences behind it; of course his hometown of Memphis, one of America’s richest cities in terms of musical history, was mentioned.

Growing up in Tennessee, very central of the country, Memphis is known as being the birthplace of rock and roll, but also the home of the blues, but Nashville’s right down the street so there’s a lot of country music.

JT admitted that he has no idea when he’s going to put the album out, but images of him in the studio with Pharrell Williams are promising signs.

Justin Timberlake often goes missing from the music scene for years at a time; he returned from a 7-year hiatus in 2013 to release two platinum selling albums, The 20/20 Experience 1 and 2, and hasn’t been heard from much since then.

That changes tonight, as JT releases “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” co-written and produced by Max Martin—Taylor Swift, “Bad Blood;” The Weeknd, “Can’t Feel My Face”–for the forthcoming Dreamworks animated film, Trolls. No word yet on whether or not this is the faux-kickoff for the rollout for a new Justin Timberlake album (the three years since the 20/20 Experience albums would be the shortest time Timberlake has ever taken between solo releases), but his return would certainly be welcomed. Remember, photos of Timberlake and Pharrell–who produced JT’s entire solo album, Justified–in the studio surfaced last month, leading fans to believe an end to his album hiatus was imminent.

Justin Timberlake has been extremely hard at work these days. Not only is he readying a new single projected for May but he’s also starring in DreamWorks Animation film, Trolls. According to HITS Daily Double the track produced by Max Martin will appear on the Trolls soundtrack which is set to release in October. Timberlake voices a troll by the name of Branch in the 3D animation film which hits theaters on Nov. 4.

The “Suit & Tie” singer is also working on a new album which will be the first one since 2013’s The 20/20 Experience. The album debuted at No.1 in March 2013 with 980,000 copies sold while part 2 arrived a few months later in September with 348,000 copies sold. What’s exciting about this new album is the production behind it; Justin recently shared some photos of him in the studio with Pharrell and Timberland. HITS reports the new album will drop in the fourth quarter with production by Martin, and longtime collaborators Timbaland and Pharrell, of course.

The 2016 iHeartRadio Music Awards will air live this Sunday [April 3] on TBS, TNT and TruTV at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

The star studded event will bring to life and celebrate the great music iHeartMedia stations played nationwide over the past year. Taylor Swift will receive the first ever “Best Tour” award for her record-breaking “The 1989 World Tour.” She is also nominated for seven other categories, including “Female Artist of the Year,” “Song of the Year” and “Album of the Year.” The evening will feature performances by Iggy Azalea, G-Eazy, Bebe Rexha, ZAYN, Chris Brown, DNCE, Fetty Wap, Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber, Meghan Trainor, Pitbull and Maroon 5.

Any time Justin Timberlake hints at dropping new music, everything stops, but when he links up with Pharrell, it’s certainly something to be worked up about. JT and Skateboard go way back to Timberlake’s debut album, Justified, which Pharrell produced in its entirety. Jutified has since sold over 10 million copies worldwide, and has become the gold standard for just about any member of a boy band or R&B/Pop group looking to go solo (cough, cough, Zayn Malik).

Since then, Timberlake has done extensive work with Timbaland, who produced Timberlake’s next three albums, FutureSex/Love Sounds, and The 20/20 Experience parts 1 and 2 almost in their entirety. Still, Timberlake has continued to work with Pharrell, teaming up with the producer for an unofficially released Game single a few years ago, and an appearance on Pharrell’s G I R L album in 2014. So, yesterday, Timberlake decided to stir the social media pot just a bit, and tweeted out a photo of him and Pharrell in the studio, meaning they could be working on anything from P’s next album to JT’s. Whatever it is, expect reactions like Tyler The Creator’s from fans all over the world.

Sometimes the past doesn’t always stay in the past. will.i.am and Justin Timberlake have been faced with a lawsuit over their collaboration on one of Timberlake’s songs, “Damn Girl.” The track was featured on Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveSounds released in 2006.

The copyright infringement lawsuit was filed by Janis McQuinton, the sister of musician Perry Kibble. In 1969 Kibble released a song titled “A New Day Is Here At Last.” McQuinton is claiming Timberlake jacked the hook, rhythm, harmony and melody. Kibble passed away in 1999 and left the rights to his music to his sister Janis. The copyright infringement lawsuit was filed through Kibble’s publishing company.

FutureSex/LoveSounds was released worldwide September 13, 2006 under Jive Records. The album was heavily influenced by R&B and techno and boasted standout features from Beyoncé, T.I. and will.i.am. Timbaland produced 10 out of 12 tracks on the album. “Damn Girl” was produced by Jawbreakers and featured will.i.am. The album sold a reported 684,000 units in its first week.

McQuinton said she spotted the similarities in the two songs last August. Shortly after, she asked a judge to put a hold on any reproduction, distribution and public performance of “Damn Girl.” While the case is still developing, will.i.am has been named the defendant alongside Timberlake and Sony Entertainment. “Damn Girl” has a loose melody, upbeat tempo and lyrics that mostly contain the phrase “damn girl.”

The US Open was the place to be this month. 

Emirates Airline hosted many of the stars at their luxurious US Open suite at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens. Randy Jackson, Doug E. Fresh, Kelly Rowland, Nas, Gladys Knight, and Justin Timberlake were spotted at the suite. Timberlake made a surprise appearance at the suite with his buddy Jimmy Fallon.

Rick Fox, Ray Liotta, Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade, Eva Longoria, Corey Hawkins, and “Orange Is The New Black” stars Danielle Brooks, Dascha Polanco, Adrienne C. Moore and Uzo Aduba also attended a game at the Emirates suite.

Other notables in attendance included Gigi Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Aziz Ansari, Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian.
