Yesterday, Pharrell Williams confirmed that he will be curating the NBA 2K15 soundtrack. The game is set to be released on October 7th in The U.S., but the tracklist will not be released until later this summer.

When it came to the song selection, the singer/producer took an different route when enlisting help,

“I had some people from my staff — they were all girls and women — and we just talked about it,” -Pharrell (via Billboard)

he continued…

“There are girls that play the game and there’s a lot of girls that are around it … so I thought it’d be such an interesting twist to have the girls weigh in on the song list, because they listen to it just as much”

While we await the full list of tracks, Pharrell did say that songs from System of a Down and Strafe will be included.

Although many may consider this soundtrack to be the most sought after, Pharrell feels the pressure to follow up to Jay-Z’s 2K13 soundtrack, and LeBron’s 2K14 soundtrack.

Fun Fact: Pharrell shares that on the cover of N*E*R*D’s In Search Of…, band member Shay was in fact playing a dated version of NBA 2K.
