Samsung celebrated Milk Music and the launch of ADD52 with performances by Miguel, Passion Pit, Pusha T and a special deejay set by Q-Tip at Riverfront Studios. Also in attendance were AnnaSophia Robb, Taryn Manning and Travie McCoy.
The evening also featured special performances by ADD artists Love Dollhouse, Tayyib Ali, and 3D Na’Tee, and Niykee Heaton. During the party, Russell Simmons gave a speech thanking his partners Brian Robbins and Steve Rifkind and Samsung for the platform for the app. He introduced the Milk Music app commercial for emerging artists, which included Love Dollhouse, Janel Marisse and Tayyib Ali. The commercial is due to launch soon.
The highlight of the evening was when Steve Rifkind introduced the last upcoming artist for the night, YouTube star, Niykee Heaton who started her set acoustically complete with a guitar in hand. “Lets get into the real deal” she said humorously before performing her original song, “Bad Intentions” with her band. Dressed in all white, Heaton performed two additional songs namely, “Skin Tight” and “Villa.” The audience got really excited when she introduced her last song, which was a cover of Pusha T’s “Blocka.” “This is one of my favorite covers,” she says. Pusha T came on stage and performed it with her. At this point, the crowd was ecstatic. By this time, Nikki ended her set and Pusha T took over by performing 4 additional songs including “Mercy” and Clipse’s hit, “Grindin’” in which the crowd went crazy for.
After a 15-minute break and more mingling sessions, the musical performances resumed with Miguel and his impeccable style taking the stage performing his hit song, “Kaleidoscope Dream.” He went on to perform “Sure Thing,” “Do You”—which he mashed up with the legendary Bob Marley’s “Stir it up”—and “Adorn.” The final act of the night was Passion Pit, an indie band from Cambridge, Massachusetts. They closed the event and performed seven songs including “Reeling” and “Little Secrets.” The crowd went absolutely bananas and to say the least, it was an amazing set.
It was an incredible night filled with amazing talents and we certainly cannot wait for more from Samsung’s Milk Music partnership with the ADD52 program!
