Even though April Fools Day was over a week ago, the jokes apparently have not stopped for Elon Musk. Over the weekend, the eccentric Twitter CEO apparently defaced…his own business’s sign.

For reasons completely unclear, Musk had covered up the “w” on the company’s sign outside of its headquarters in San Francisco. While some assumed that it was a routine maintenance or repair issue, it appeared that Musk had done it….just because.

However, while some fans thought that the stunt was funny, the building’s landlord was apparently not having it, stating that the sign could not be altered from its previously-approved design.

Apparently Musk (or one of his staff) may have found a loophole in the contract that allowed them to paint the “w” the background color of the sign (white). While some people were unsure whether the painting was the work of vandalism, Musk proudly took credit on Sunday on (where else?) Twitter, showing off the new sign.

No word if the social media platform will officially be changing its name any time soon.

If at first you don’t succeed, try again? That seems to be the mantra of Billy McFarland, the organizer of the infamous Fyre Fest music festival that spiraled into chaos and disaster, leaving thousands stranded in the Bahamas for a concert event that never materialized.

However, almost exactly six years to the date that the original Fyre Fest spiraled into disaster, McFarland seems to be ready to give it another go, tweeting his plans for Fyre Fest II and inviting fans to tell him why they should be invited.

Naturally, the responses were every bit as hilarious as expected with some respondents volunteering to bring food and water with others offering their therapy or DJ-ing services. One user gave the response: “Because I’m forklift certified.”

The first Fyre Fest, which was set to happen over two weekends (April 28–30 and May 5–7, 2017) had teased major headliners such as Ja Rule, Blink 182, and Lil Yachty with A-list celebrities such as Kendall Jenner promoting the event on their social media. However, no performances took place and McFarland ended up pleading guilty to two counts of wire fraud charges and serving just over four years of his original six year prison sentence.

While McFarland may be free and planning a comeback event, one thing is likely certain- the event will not be held in the Bahamas again. Aviation Chester Cooper, Bahamas Minister of Tourism, said that the Bahamas will not endorse or approve any event in associated with McFarland, stating that he “is considered to be a fugitive.”

Former President Donald Trump’s recent 34-count indictment has stirred a range of public opinion with everyone from politicians to celebrities to ordinary people chiming in. However, Yusef Salaam, one of the exonerated “Central Park Five,” has a unique perspective on the situation, simply calling it “karma.”

Salaam tweeted the following after news of the indictment broke:

For those who may not remember, in 1989, Trump, who was then a prominent New York City businessman, took out several full-page newspaper advertisements calling for New York City politicians to reinstate the death penalty following the brutal rape and attack of a female jogger in New York City. Five youth, Salaam, Korey Wise, Antron McCray, Raymond Santana, and Kevin Richardson, were wrongfully imprisoned for 7-13 years until the attacker was caught. They had been coerced into giving false confessions and received substantial settlements. All are involved in criminal justice activism efforts now. Trump never formally apologized to the five, especially since he took out the ads before their trials began.

Salaam recently announced his candidacy for New York City Council.

Rapper 6ix9ine is finally addressing his March attack at a Florida gym, just days after his attackers were arrested, calling the attack “cowardly,” while sharing a clip of the attack on his Instagram.

6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, shared a clip on Instagram of the attack, which occured in the bathroom of a West Palm Beach LA Fitness. He wrote the following caption:

“First time addressing the situation. For 2 years I been walking around with no security. Not saying I promote that BUT now you see I really never hid from anything. If you ever crossed my path or ever came to my house (you girls know who you are) ya can tell the world “Danny drives his own cars and be solo” You know how many of you people seen me in real life by myself in gas stations, supermarkets, restaurants, etc. Anyway what happen here was nothing but cowardly. I’m not mad this happened. In the street there’s no rules so I cant say they were wrong. Obviously it wasn’t fair but again the streets has no rules. Just imagine having nothing to do to with a situation and feel obligated to make it your business. (Very weird) I’m happy to be here still. And I want to say I love my fans. Thank you.
P.S : I never knew we respected jumping people. When did that ever become a W???”

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, three individuals have been arrested in conjunction with the attack: Rafael Medina Jr., 43, Octavious Medina, 23, and Anthony Maldonado, 25. No information is available other than that the three were being held in the Palm Beach County Jail and had their initial appearance on March 31.

Fans won’t have any problem remembering Avril Lavigne‘s name thanks to a flashy necklace purchased by her (rumored) boyfriend, Tyga, that is said to be valued at about $80,000.

Avril was seen wearing the chain last week in Los Angeles and also posted pictures wearing it on social media. The chain prominently features her name, the letter “A” over pink hearts, skulls and crossbones with ribbons, and the letters MFP on the back. The piece is reportedly composed of 50 carats of white diamonds, black diamonds, and pink sapphires.

The piece was made by celebrity jeweler Eric Mavani of Mavani & Co Jewelry in New York City, who confirmed the piece’s approximate value. Mavani also shared an up close and personal view of the necklace on his Instagram.

Rumors of a romance between the two began last month following Lavigne’s ended engagement to Mod Sun. The two have been spotted together around Los Angeles as well as at Paris Fashion week.

Blac Chyna has said “enough is enough.” And for once, she isn’t talking about drama. Instead, the artist, whose real name is Angela White, took yet another step in returning to her “natural” form this week when she got her face fillers dissolved on Instagram.

Explaining that she was tired of how she looked “as Blac Chyna” and “wanted to return to Angela” by getting her facial fillers dissolved, she said, “I’m tired of the look and it’s just not flattering. It’s just not what I look like — it like totally changed my face and I’m ready to get back to Angela.”

The video showed a medical professional injecting various spots of White’s face and lips with a syringe and catheter that contained an acid that will dissolve the filler within a few days. A few times, she appears to flinch as the medical professional explains that it might “pinch” or “sting.”

Earlier this week, she shared a video in which she explained that she got her breasts and buttocks surgically reduced, captioning it with:

“I want you all to be apart of my life changing journey.  I Reduced my breast and Gluteus maximus. ‘You all have the power to heal your life, and you need to know that.’ ~ Angela White.”

According to Healthline, “only hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, like Juvederm, Restylane, and Belotero, can be dissolved. HA is a sugar naturally found in your body, mainly in your connective tissues. Mainly, HA works to keep your skin hydrated, which contributes to plumpness. The HA in fillers is a synthetic, or lab-made version. Fillers made from anything else aren’t reversible — but again, they won’t last forever, regardless. Fillers degrade over time, which is why you need to get follow-up injections to maintain their look.

The medical professional explained that White might experience some swelling over the next few days, but it would be temporary. No doubt, fans will eagerly be awaiting to see her new, more natural, look in the coming days.

When it comes to red carpet looks, actress Kerry Washington has always turned heads. However, at the recent ABFF Honors ceremony, she turned heads while also paying homage to the late Whitney Houston, wearing one of her old dresses to the ceremony as a way to “honor Black excellence.”

The iconic red dress was first worn by Whitney Houston in 1996. On Jimmy Fallon, Washington explained how the dress had been archived by its original designer, Marc Bouwer, and it had not been worn in decades. Washington had apparently had her eye on it for awhile and had previously discussed the dress with her stylist, but had to wait for the right moment to honor [Houston].

She described the halter-style dress as “really special” and explaining that “when you get an award for excellence in the arts, you’ve gotta go to Black excellence.”

Washington also posted a short video on Instagram in which she asked “What’s cooler than wearing Whitney Houston’s dress?” before following it up with her singing the late songstress’s iconic “nothing” while twirling around and showing it off.

The fifth American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Honors ceremony, which took place in West Hollywood on March 5, recognizes achievements of film actors of African descent and honors films that stand out in their portrayal of Black experience. Washington was honored alongside Courtney B. Vance, Janelle Monáe, Macro’s Charles D. King, filmmaker Kasi Lemmons, the cast of “Eve’s Bayou,” and more.

After describing the dress on Jimmy Fallon, Washington also teased her upcoming autobiography.

Nicki Minaj has always been known for her diversity, whether it’s her ever-changing looks and persona or her varied business ventures. So it shouldn’t come as that much of a surprise that the multiple Grammy nominee and chart-topping artist is starting her own record label.

On Friday, Minaj made her return to music after a brief hiatus with her new single, “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.” She also took to her Queen Radio show to announce her own record label of her own, making her the first major female artist to do so.

While she has not yet announced the name, she has introduced some of the artists that she has signed. So far, her roster includes artists Nana Fofie, Tate Kobang, Rico Danna and London Hill.

She explained that her label won’t be limited to just rap, saying “don’t think my label is just rap, or Black, or anything…we got some other genres of music.”

She went on to credit Lil’ Wayne for much of her inspiration and guidance in starting a record label, explaining how he heavily promoted his artists and she hopes to do the same, saying ‘when I get behind an artist, y’all know how I do s— for people that’s not even signed to me. Imagine what I’ma do for the ones that’s signed.”

While her full staff has not been announced, it has been reported that Patty Duke, who has a longtime relationship with Minaj, will serve in an A&R role at the new label.

The fictional Adonis Creed may have won record-breaking heavyweight titles, but the real Michael B. Jordan had his own record-breaking weekend with “Creed III” (which he both directed and starred in) breaking a box office record for highest-grossing opening weekend.

The film reportedly brought in $58 million in the United States during its opening weekend (bringing in $22 million on Friday alone), taking the title from the former domestic record holder, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” Internationally, “Creed III” made $41.8 million its opening weekend, bringing its global total revenue to $100.4 million. (For reference, the film cost $75 million to make.)

Experts state that the reason for the record can be attributed to two things: the popularity of the film with a large audience and increased ticket prices.

Yahoo Entertainment notes that “Creed III” brought our a very diverse audience, as 23% were white, 28% were Latino, 36% were Black and 13% were Asian. They also note that “Creed III” also benefitted from pricier Imax tickets (a huge 38% of business came from premium large format screens). Additionally, movie ticket prices, like many other things, have increased due to inflation over the past few years.

In 2015, “Creed I” brought in $29.6 million its opening weekend while the 2018 sequel, “Creed II,” opened to $35.5 million.

There’s catfishing….and then there’s celebrity catfishing. A woman named Rachel wrote to Dr. Phil, begging her to intervene in a situation with her friend Simone, who believed that she was engaged to R&B singer Omarion.

Rachel first provided Dr. Phil with some background information about the situation. She said that Simone believed that she was talking to Omarion and that he had stated that he wanted to marry her and was planning to come visit her. However, after talking for two years, he had not come to see Simone, nor had he flown her to see him. Simone had, however, given someone that she believed to be Omarion upwards of $3,500. She also stated that Simone had never video-chatted with the “Post to Be” singer.

Dr. Phil then interviewed Simone, who said she was in contact with Omarion’s “manager,” who had asked her for money. However, Dr. Phil brought out Omarion’s real manager, Michelle Le Fleur, who stated that Omarion did not know Simone, had never asked her for money and was not in a relationship with her.

Omarion then shared a video from Omarion who addressed the issue, saying that “it’s crazy how far these people will go to manipulate my fans to think that they are actually speaking with me- from sending fake drivers licenses and passports, even Facetiming them, but claiming there was a bad connection.”

He then spoke directly to Simone, saying, “I’m sorry, Simone, I haven’t been speaking with you online and we are not in a relationship. You have not sent me any money. I want everyone to be aware that if someone is online claiming to be me and asking for money, that you are not speaking with me, I would not do that. All of my pages are marked with a blue check.”

He encouraged his fans to be careful and mindful about who they speak to online.

Dr. Phil pointed out that celebrities being impersonated is very common, with many unwitting victims believing that they are in a relationship with a celebrity, sharing stories of other fans who had thought they were in relationships with celebrities such as Post Malone, Tyler Perry, and Vin Diesel.

Hip-hop artist Tyga has a long history of being romantically linked to high-profile female celebrities, but his newest rumored romantic interest, pop star Avril Lavigne, has caught many people by surprise.

Rumors started swirling when the two were spotted dining at Nobu together with friends and hugging outside the restaurant on Saturday night before leaving together. (TMZ caught pictures, which can be seen here.)

While one source told People, “Avril and Tyga are genuinely friends and nothing more,” other sources claim that the two are dating.

The news might come as a shock to many, including Lavigne’s (reportedly ex) fiance, singer-songwriter Mod Sun. While some sources say that the two called off their engagement earlier this month, others say that Mod Sun was unaware that the pair were over.

Both parties have their own celebrity-filled dating rosters. Tyga shares a child with ex Blac Chyna and also dated Kylie Jenner for four years. He has also been linked to Iggy Azealia, Kiely Williams, and several models and “influencers.” Lavigne actually dated Brody Jenner, who is the stepbrother of Kylie Jenner, Tyga’s ex. In 2013, Lavigne married Chad Kroeger of Nickelback before divorcing two years later and moving on to Phillip Sarofim, the son of Texan billionaire Fayez Sarofim before dating Pete Jonas in 2020 and then finally, Mod Sun.

Neither has publicly commented on the rumors with Tyga promoting his upcoming Las Vegas residency and Lavigne promoting her new music on Instagram.

As Ice-T accepted his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last Friday, he addressed one aspect of being a star that does not seem to bother him: critics.

The 65-year-old hip-hop artist and actor, who accepted the star alongside his wife Coco and seven-year-old daughter Chanel, discussed cancel culture, addressing how people have been trying to cancel him since the beginning of his career, over four decades ago.

In an interview with Fox News, Ice-T said that people had “been trying to cancel me for 40 years… I’m difficult to cancel,” before continuing to explain that “I’ve already let everybody know all my flaws, all my vices and people rock with it.”

He also addressed online trolls and critics, saying that he turns the negative energy from critics into motivation, sharing his personal philosophy of “when someone tells me you can’t do it, that means I got to do it.” He referred to criticism as fuel, stating that “I eat haters for food.”

In December, the Grammy-winning artist shared an inspirational quote that read: “Everyone is going to hate you anyway…so you might as well give them a reason” with a post that said “Christmas is over.. My advice is you go into 2023 with THIS attitude if you want to WIN.”

It’s been a while since Will Smith has been on a stage at an awards show, but allegedly, he was scheduled to make a surprise appearance at the Grammy’s this past Sunday night. However, his comeback performance was derailed due to conflicts with filming Bad Boys 4.

In the weeks leading up to the Grammy’s, host Trevor Noah had hinted that there would be surprise guest appearances, but had kept quiet about specifics. However, Questlove, who produced a 10-minute 50th anniversary of hip-hop tribute performance for the ceremony, let one no-show surprise guest name slip on the red carpet.

Questlove told a Variety reporter that he was going to give the spoiler alert away. “Will Smith was a part of the festivities tonight, but they started shooting Bad Boys 4 this week. There were a lot of preliminary shots that he had to do, so we had to lose Will.”

The show did, however, go on without Smith. Missy Elliott, Run-DMC, LL Cool J, The Roots, Big Boi, Busta Rhymes, GloRilla, Rakim, Ice-T, Lil Baby, GloRilla, Lil Uzi Vert, and more showcased their talents in a commemorative tribute to the genre.

Before the performance, Dr. Dre was honored with the inaugural Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. He spoke about the impact that hip-hop had on him while saying that he was happy to be influencing the next generation of artists. The full performance can be seen below.

Questlove said that pulling off the show took a lot of hard work, telling the New York Times that “it was a lot of mountains to move to make this happen,” noting that Will Smith was not the only celebrity who couldn’t make it. Future and Lil’ Wayne also had toco cancel due to other commitments.

It’s been almost a year since Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars in March of 2022.

Kanye West is in trouble with the law after a video surfaced of him grabbing a woman’s cellphone. The Ventura County Sheriff’s office confirmed that Ye is under investigation for alleged battery after a video surfaced of the the artist taking the woman’s phone as she photographed him from inside her car and then throwing it into the street.

According to the Ventura County Star, Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an alleged battery incident involving celebrity Kanye West near the Sports Academy on Rancho Conejo Boulevard in Newbury Park late Friday afternoon, officials said. The incident was reported around 4:37 p.m. after a reported altercation between West and a woman, said sheriff’s Capt. William Hutton. Hutton said that no arrests have yet been made, but it is an ongoing active investigation.

In the video, Kanye can be heard saying something to the effect of “Y’all ain’t gonna run up on me like that. If I say stop”…”stop with your cameras.”

The woman says she was not running and responds by saying, “Kanye, you’re a celebrity.”

Ye then took the phone from her hands and threw it into the street before returning to his SUV and driving off before law enforcement arrived on the scene.

No arrests have been formally made as of Sunday afternoon.

Breakups can be hard, but sometimes they can also be funny. Michael B. Jordan took to SNL this weekend (where he was joined by Lil Baby as a musical guest) to poke fun at the breakup- and himself.

The Creed actor and director cracked jokes about how his breakup with Harvey was his first public breakup (the two ended things in June of 2022). He joked that while most people get in shape after a breakup, he was already in peak physical condition from shooting Creed, to which he responded, “So I had to be like, ‘All right, I guess I’ll learn a new language,'” following up with, “estoy en Raya!” in heavily English-accented Spanish.

He appeared to take a few subtle jabs at Harvey by parading out four female cast members including Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Punkie Johnson, and Ego Nwodim, who all fawned over the star with Nwodim going so far as to rock a wedding dress.

He then noted that he didn’t have to worry about the internet finding many sad images of him online thanks to the famous “sad Michael Jordan” meme.

He also shared a throwback clip of himself at age 16 when he made his soap opera debut, joking about his “howling scene.”

Beyonce is officially back and based on the reviews of her performance over the weekend in Dubai, is better than ever, performing an hour-long set of some of her greatest hits at the grand opening of the newest Atlantis resort, The Palm, in Dubai.

The superstar songstress performed a variety of her hits including classics such as “Crazy in Love,” “Beautiful Liar” and “Naughty Girl,” as well as newer songs including “Freedom,” “Be Alive,” and “Spirit.” She also reportedly performed a cover of Etta James’s “At Last.”

At one point in the performance, her daughter Blue Ivy (who is now 11 years old!) joined her to perform a duet of their song “Brown Skin Girl,” from Beyoncé’s2019  The Lion King companion album. Blue Ivy donned a sparkling red gown while her mom rocked a glamorous yellow one for the song. Beyonce also rotated through a series of glamorous looks for the event.

Security for the event was incredibly strict with the approximately 1,000 invited attendees being required to lock up their phones before the show. All live streams from the venue were also cut off shortly before she began performing.

However, many celebrities still made red-carpet appearances including Kendall Jenner, Rebel Wilson, Ellen Pompeo, Chloe Bailey, Amir Khan, Letitia Wright, and more. Jay-Z was also in attendance in his own exclusive box seat. The event culminated with a fireworks display and after-party headlined by Swedish House Mafia.

Although she has been incredibly busy the last four years, Beyonce had not performed a full concert since 2018 when she and husband JAY-Z appeared at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 event.

The newest Atlantis resort covers more than 63 hectares and boasts over 795 rooms and suites, no fewer than 90 swimming pools, and at least 17 restaurants, many run by world-famous chefs.

There has been a lot of discussion in the media recently regarding the unauthorized use of another’s art. From accusations that the Lensa app used artists’ works without permission to Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene using Dr. Dre‘s music in a political video, patent and copyright law is shaping up to be a major issue in 2023. Now, the Black Eyed Peas have entered the fight with a lawsuit against toymaker MGA Entertainment, the makers of the Poopsie Slime Surprise toy, used the group’s 2006 hit “My Humps” without permission.

The lawsuit was filed by the group’s label, BMG, in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan. Amongst other things, it alleges that MGA Entertainment displayed “willful copyright infringement” and “exploited, without authorization” the group’s art as part of its promotional campaign for its “Poopsie Slime Surprise” product line, which featured “a unicorn doll that excretes sparkling slime.” BMG is seeking $10 million in damages, as well as requiring that MGA destroy all copies of “My Poops.”

A YouTube video shows animated unicorns dancing to digitally-altered lyrics where they showcase the toy’s “pooping” features.

Legal experts state that MGA’s primary defense will be that the song was used as a parody, since using art for the purpose of parody is protected by free speech law. However, there are legal limits when it comes to whether or not MGA exploited the song to make a profit.

“My Humps” was a major hit for the group in 2006 and continues to remain popular today, accruing over 700 million views on YouTube. The video also won Best Hip Hop Video at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. The original video is shown below.

Both NFL and Apple Music shared a short clip on their Instagrams of Rihanna in her Super Bowl-themed black hoodie with the photo of her arm holding a football. (It’s the same photo she used to announce her Super Bowl halftime performance.)

The caption reads, “5 weeks from today,” followed by two fire emojis.

Rihanna has also added a new Game Day Collection to her Fenty brand, complete with sweatshirts, t-shirts, boxers, loungewear, and more to commemorate her halftime performance.

New year, new significant other? That might be the mantra for Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott, who reportedly are no longer together, according to multiple sources.

The parents of two (a girl, Stormi, and an unnamed boy) were allegedly supposed to spend the holidays together, but instead, Jenner went to Aspen with friends (including Justin Bieber, Hailey Bieber, and Stacey Karanikolau) as well as daughter Stormi. Scott was not in attendance.

The couple, who first got together in 2017, were last photographed together in December of 2022 in Miami at one of Scott’s performances.

A source close to the couple told US Weekly that the on-again, off-again couple are finally done this time, stating that “this has happened so many times before, they’re known to be on again off again, but always remain friends and great coparents.”

Neither party has made a public statement. Earlier this week, Jenner posted a solo pic wearing a black dress, sitting in the back of a car with the simple caption: “where we going ?” (It does, however, appear that she has a ring on her left ring finger although the ring details are unclear.)

Scott, meanwhile, is likely focusing on his upcoming appearances for a series of global Rolling Loud festivals.

Musician Fred White, the drummer for the sound pioneering and chart-topping group Earth, Wind & Fire, died at age 67.

White joined the band at age 19 in 1974 alongside the group’s founders- his siblings Maurice and Verdine White.

In a statement, Verdine White praised his late younger brother’s musical talents and contribution to music, stating, “he joins our brothers Maurice, Monte, and Ronald in heaven and is now drumming with the angels! Child protégé, member of the EWF ORIGINAL 9, with gold records at 16 years old! He was brother number 4 in the family lineup. But more than that, at home and beyond, he was the wonderful bro that was always entertaining and delightfully mischievous!”

His older brother Maurice passed on in 2016 at 74.

The band sold over 50 million records globally and was responsible for creating a unique and iconic sound that combined disco, soul, jazz, pop, R&B, funk, disco, big band, Latin, and Afro-pop genres. Although Fred left the group in the 1980s, he returned for a reunion performance as the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.

The official Earth, Wind & Fire Instagram account shared a video of White performing a drum solo during the group’s world tour in 1979.

No cause of death was immediately provided.

Roddy Ricch is the latest celebrity to push back after paparazzi have crossed personal boundaries. Video, allegedly taken on December 29, recently surfaced showing an unnamed paparazzi member getting a little too close for comfort to The Box artist.

The video The Hollywood Fix shared was taken in West Hollywood and showed Roddy and two men (likely his security detail and a store employee) trying to load what appears to be a car seat into the artist’s black car. The person (an unknown male) recording the film at first just zooms in on the three men before approaching them and talking about how he saw the artist in concert.

The security guard blocks the camera and tells the person recording, “he’s doing something private now, he’s doing something for his family.”

The person appears to back off before continuing to try to talk to the artist, to which the security guard repeatedly tells him to back off. The person continues to record and Roddy approaches him and tells him to “turn that off” and says he wants to talk to him “like a man.” The man continues to object, and Roddy continues to ask him to turn the camera off, saying, “you walked up on me…this is real life, bro.”

The man backs off and talks to someone off camera, confirming that it is indeed Roddy Ricch, but saying, “he [Roddy] is in a bad mood though.”

Roddy and his security guard drive off without incident.

Earlier this year, rapper Kodak Black had a similar incident in which he told a person filming him in his private life to back off and stop recording, citing the murder of PNB Rock days before. (The artist’s murderer found his location based on a social media video.)

It is unclear who the car seat was for. Roddy has one child, a son, with baby mama Allie Minati.

Despite recently performing with some of the biggest names in hip-hop, rapper Theophilus London is nowhere to be found- and he has now officially been declared a missing person.

London’s family officially reported him missing this week, filing an official police report with the LAPD. The family alleges they have not seen or spoken with the 35-year-old artist since July. (His last Instagram post was from July 11.)

London hails from Trinidad and Tobago and has worked with Kanye West, Travis Scott, Azealia Banks, Tame Impala, and many more. He has also performed at many international and North American music festivals, drawing praise from music critics in multiple genres.

According to TMZ, London’s father said, “Theo, your Dad loves you, son. We miss you. And all your friends and relatives are searching for you. Wherever you are, send us some signal. No matter what we will come get you son.”

The rapper’s family has urged the public to contact the LAPD if they have information about his whereabouts or well-being. They can also reach out to London’s cousin, Mikhail Noel, on Instagram at @iamdjkellz.

In 2011, London released his debut album, Timez Are Weird These Days. It was followed up by Vibes (with Kanye West serving as executive producer) in 2014 and Bebey in 2020.

Kid Cudi and Travis Scott will not be releasing an album, Kid Cudi has confirmed, much to the dismay of fans.

On Wednesday, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, got on Twitter to answer fan questions. One question was whether a rumored “The Scotts” (referring to Travis Scott and Cudi’s real name) album would be happening.

In response to the fan question, Cudi answered: “Naw im not doin that. The moment has passed.”

The news was met with sad reactions from fans who posted a series of sad memes and gifs.

However, Cudi, who worked with Scott on numerous projects, including songs on Cudi’s 2018 LP Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ and Scott’s Astroworld and Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight as well as a 2020 song “The Scotts,” did not rule out future collabs, replying “most def” when asked if they might ever collab on a song together.

Kudi did not address questions such as whether or not Kanye West ever apologized to him or other questions about his personal life and rumored celebrity beefs.

Earlier this year, Cudi contemplated a post-music career of possibly becoming a kindergarten teacher.

As Travis Scott has been slated to headline a series of Rolling Loud festivals, perhaps a surprise appearance by Cudi would appease fans.

Travis Scott appears to be working to put the Astroworld disaster behind him and return to performing live concerts. Earlier this month, Scott was announced as a headliner for Rolling Loud Portugal and this week he was announced as a headliner for Rolling Loud Thailand.

The website announced Scott as the first of three major headliners with more to be announced in coming weeks. The festival has also promised over 60 artists including well-known international artists as well as popular Asian acts.

The long-anticipated inaugural event will be Rolling Loud’s first event in Asia and will take place April 13-15, 2023 and will be held in Pattaya, Thailand, an area about 150 km south of Bangkok, known for its breathtaking beaches as well as festive nightlife.

In addition to expanding their American presence, Rolling Loud recently held their first-ever Canadian festival (with Future, WizKid, and Dave headlining), a European debut in Portugal, the brand’s first camping festival in The Netherlands, and most notably, the Rolling Loud world tour in New York in September, headlined by Nicki Minaj, A$AP Rocky, and Future.

Tickets are priced at about $385 USD for VIP and $242 for general admission.

Rapper YNW Melly appears to be experiencing some serious struggles in jail as he awaits his murder trial, going so far as to say that he is being threatened by jail staff and that he fears for his life.

On Monday, the artist took to Instagram, sharing two separate uploads of mugshots, describing allegations of what may be considered cruel and unusual punishment and a violation of his civil rights at Broward County Jail in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The first caption reads as follows:

“As of this moment today I am officially in fear of my life. A new Captain named Hubert and XO Jenkins have taken over the jail for two weeks now and have handed out even harsher punishments for me then the previous ones in place. Since December 1 I have been moved and housed on a unit that holds 24 inmates at once. I am the only inmate being housed on the vacant unit, with no phone privilege, no television and no access to a newspaper. They are watching my every move on camera making sure I don’t use the phone to tell the world how I am being mistreated, discriminated, threatened physically, harassed. When I come out of my cell for the 1 hour a day, all other inmates in the adjoining dorms must go back in there cell. I am being subjected to cruel and unusual treatment at the hands of deputies and high-ranking staff of the Broward Sheriffs Office. I have been threatened by Deputies, Lieutenants and Sergeants that say “they will hide me from the world” and threaten to “beat my ass everyday and if I tell my lawyers they will lie and say I hit them first.” Words from Sergeant Anthony Kidd and Lieutenant Jean Baptiste. I have literally been hidden from the World so I have no other choice but to believe the next step is them beating ½ to death like they do to other inmates almost daily here at the main jail in Broward County.”

Melly also tagged several local and national news channels at the end of the post.

In a second post, he shared another mugshot and wrote:

“I cant call my family or lawyers to notify them if I have been beaten or harassed. They say my phone privileges are taken permanently because all of the infractions over the last seven months. THAT IS A LIE! They took my phone privileges indefinitely off of my 1″ violation for using another inmates pin to talk on the phone when I am not allowed to use the phone.
If I had been treated like every other inmate at this facility my phone pin would have been restored and phone privileges given back after 30 days per the handbook. I have however went without phone privileges since MAY 8, 2022 and have not been given back my phone pin since the first year I was here. I have served all my disciplinary time so why are my phone privileges still taken. Why am I the ONLY inmate on a unit by themselves BLOCKED from any human interaction? There are inmates here, that have been convicted, of orchestrating robberies over the jail phone and another who planned an escape from jail that was carried out over the jail phone, they are still allowed to use the phone after committing serious crimes and security threats to the facility. But my phone privileges are taken indefinitely for violating a harmless phone policy that carries a punishment of 30 days max!!! I am housed and surrounded in the care of power struck deputies and captains of high authority that even have told me to my face that “they don’t like me” and “I pissed them off”. I am not safe in the hands of these people especially if the highest in command in the jail “doesn’t like me”. I am in fear of my life. My family is in fear of my life. I can not do another day here. Someone please help me get moved to another county jail until my trial. PLEASE!”

The artist, whose real name is Jamell Demons, was arrested in 2019 in conjunction with a double homicide of two of his friends and has been charged with premeditated murder. His trial was set to begin in March of 2022, but has been delayed. There is no clear expected start date.

You know 2022 was a bizarre year when Alex Jones starts to call other people crazy, especially a formerly beloved hip-hop icon. However, he did just that, going on Steven Crowder’s YouTube show to discuss the fallout and his reactions from his interview with Kanye West from last week.

After showing some clips of the interview to provide for context, Crowder asks Jones if in “his wildest dreams” that he expected Kanye to make some of the outlandish statements that he did. Jones said that he did not, continuing that he didn’t give Kanye limits as to what he could talk about, but asked that he talk about “real issues,” to which Kanye didn’t obviously adhere,

Jones called Ye’s mask “creepy,” before stating that he didn’t believe that West understood World War II history, saying that Ye didn’t have “a fifth grade education about the Nazis.”

He called Nick Fuentes “baby Hitler,” saying that Fuentes and other supporters had a “homoerotic Hitler obsession,” claiming “it’s like some homoerotic, you know, thing over Hitler. That is, kinda, what’s going on. There’s this Hitler fetish”

Jones went on to say that Hitler was a pedophile, amongst other things, stating: “Hitler was horrible, screw Hitler, burn in hell Hitler.”

Later in the interview, Crowder’s co-host interjected to say that as a Christian, he was raised to “love the sinner, hate the sin,” but Ye (who claimed many times in the original interview with Jones that he was a devout Christian), failed to condemn any of Hitler’s sins in the hours-long interview.

While Jones said that he lost respect for Fuentes, he did describe Ye as more or less confused, saying that he wanted to meet with Kanye again to educate him on the atrocities of Hitler and the Nazi party during World War II.

Celebrities’ DMs are probably full of people trying to get in contact with them. However, one man went the extra step and claimed that Kim Kardashian communicated back with him….but telepathically. This week, Kardashian was granted a restraining order against the man, who had also attempted to break into her permanent and temporary residences.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Adrian Gidaya Roxas granted Kardashian a permanent five-year restraining order against the man, Andre Persaud. In addition to the bizarre claims that Kardashian “communicated with him telepathically,” Persaud had allegedly tried to access Kardashian’s residence on three separate occasions in August 2022 and also attempted to access her hotel during a recent trip to New York.

Per court documents filed by Kardashian’s legal team, in addition to believing that the reality TV mogul had been “communicating with him telepathically,” Kardashian’s team also alleged that Persaud had also expressed increasing frustration that Kardashian had not responded to him. Kardashian stated that she worried about her safety after Persaud also claimed to own a gun.

Per the restraining order, Persaud is required to stay at least 100 yards away from Kardashian and is prohibited from contacting her directly or indirectly.

This is not Kardashian’s first time in court in recent weeks. In late November, Kardashian and Kanye West formally settled their divorce in divorce court.

December may have just started, but it’s going to be hard for it to get any more bizarre after Kanye West set the bar high on Thursday in an unfiltered interview with Alex Jones in which Ye made some of the most shocking statements of his career.

A fully masked Ye went on Alex Jones’ show on the website Infowars on Thursday where he spent almost three hours discussing his opinion on religion, politics, art, the media, Hollywood, Donald Trump, and much more.

West started the interview by speaking about his Christian faith, denouncing pornography and pedophilia, saying the two are basically equal. He then talked about Steve Jobs, social media conspiracy theories, the evils of pornography and alcohol,

Kanye was joined by Nick Fuentes, a well-known political commentator and streamer who is known for his white supremacist views. Former President Donald Trump was recently criticized for having dinner with Fuentes. (Trump claimed that he did not know who Fuentes was.)

At one point, Kanye said: “I love Jewish people, but I also love Nazis.” He also said: “The Jewish media has made us feel like the Nazis and Hitler have never offered anything of value to the world.” He described how Hitler added value to the world by inventing things like the highway and microphones. West also called out politician Rahm Emanuel (who is Jewish and hails from West’s hometown of Chicago) several times throughout the interview.

The Weeknd “returned to the scene of the crime” on Saturday, performing to a sold-out crowd at Los Angeles’s SoFi Stadium for what was a highly-anticipated makeup concert following his abruptly ended concert in September.

The Weeknd enthusiastically told the audience that “we’re back at the scene of the crime, it looks like,” before mimicking a barbell workout with the microphone stand as if to signify that he was “back in fighting shape” before performing a full 90-minute set of his hits complete with the dazzling effects that his performances have become known for.

The makeup concert is a makeup for his September 3 performance, which he ended after just 18 minutes, citing vocal problems before tearfully apologizing to about 70,000 confused fans. He later made the following statement: “I personally want to apologize to you guys. I don’t know what just happened when I screamed, but I just lost my voice. This is killing me. I don’t want to stop the show. But I can’t give you the concert I want to give you right now. I’m going make sure everybody’s good — get your money back — but I’ll do a show real soon for you guys.”

Less than a month after Takeoff‘s murder, some progress may be in the works toward bringing justice in the case. Lil Cam, whose real name is Joshua Cameron, was arrested for a felony charge of unlawful carry of a weapon. Cameron has reportedly been affiliated with Mob Ties records for about 16 years.

Cameron was arrested on November 22 and is currently being held in custody at the Harris County jail in Texas where investigators are reportedly questioning him about his potential involvement with Takeoff’s murder. Cameron, who was out on bail for a prior felony, reportedly had a weapon on the night of the Migos’ member’s murder. Possession of a firearm is a violation of the terms of his release.

Documentation from Harris county is shown below. It is still unclear if police believe that Cameron himself was the shooter or an accomplice.

Divorces can be messy. For celebrities, they can be even messier. For rapper Xhibit, the outcome can be quite costly.

While the courts had ordered Xhibit to pay his ex-wife Krista Joiner $2,239 per month in child support for their 10-year-old son Gatlyn (a sum to which he agreed), she says that is not enough and that she deserves half of the value of his current assets.

The disagreement stems from what Joiner claims was a verbal agreement with Xhibit saying that he claimed that he would provide her (Joiner) with lifelong financial support as long as she stayed at home and took care of the household and their son.

Court documents filed by joiner allege that a verbal agreement stated that, “in the event the parties’ relationship ended, all of the property acquired, or entities or businesses established, or which property or entities/businesses increased in value, during their relationship as a result of (Xzibit’s) skills, efforts, labor, and earnings, regardless of how the title was formally held, would be divided equally between them.”

The lawsuit also claims that Xhibit agreed that all property and businesses would be split upon their divorce.

This is not the first court case for the former couple, who officially divorced in 2021. In July, a judge ordered Xhibit to pay Joiner $50,000 in fees to a forensic accountant for the auditing of his finances as well as $125,000 for court and legal costs. Joiner also kept the $3 million home that she shared with the former Pimp My Ride host. In 2021, Joiner allegedly forged Xhibit’s name on a check to make a down payment on a Bentley. Upon finding out, he simply asked her to return it rather than filing charges. (It was eventually repossessed several months later.)

However, Xhibit claims that no such agreement was made, and instead, he states that his ex-wife should obtain a job. According to Yahoo news, he has formally petitioned the court to to order Joiner to undergo a vocational evaluation with a court-appointed official. The evaluation will determine if Joiner is mentally and physically fit to work “as well as her available employment options.” After the evaluation is conducted, a judgment on the amount of spousal support she should receive will be granted.

It is unclear what, if any, skills Joiner (who is almost 50 years old) has in the way of finding gainful employment. However, the courts also usually provide references for vocational training if the courts recommend it.

From Lil’ Kim‘s pasties to Lady Gaga‘s meat dress to Kid Cudi‘s wedding dress, hip-hop and pop celebrities have loved to push boundaries on the red carpet. However, this weekend, pop star Billie Eilish dressed way down, but still managed to turn heads.

Eilish made her public debut with her boyfriend, Jesse Rutherford, at the the LACMA Art and Film Gala Presented by Gucci on Saturday. The two wore coordinating Gucci sleepwear. Eilish rocked a Gucci silk floor-length nightgown with matching sleeping mask while Rutherford donned Gucci pajamas and fuzzy slippers.

The attention-grabber, however, was the blanket that the two wore draped around themselves as they walked down the carpet (sharing the blanket the whole time) and greeted the press.

Eilish and Rutherford had been spotted together, but only recently gone public with Eilish posting pictures of the two of them together over Halloween weekend.

Rutherford is the lead singer of The Neighbourhood, an alternative rock band best known for the hit song ‘Sweater Weather.’

In an unprecedented act of solidarity, over two dozen major hip-hop and pop artists and industry insiders recently came together in an open letter aimed at “protecting Black art,” which would limit how artists’ lyrics can be used in court cases.

In an open letter that was published in both the New York Times and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, major hip-hop artists urged politicians and other policy makers to limit how creative expression (especially in the form of song lyrics) can be used against defendants on trial as confessions or proof of a crime. The letter cites the shocking statistic that states that “experts have found more than 500 cases involving rap as evidence in public records” while there have been just “four instances since the 1950s of non-rap lyrics being submitted as evidence – three of those cases were thrown out, and the fourth was overturned after conviction.”

The hip-hop artists included Drake, Mary J. Blige, 2 Chainz, 21 Savage, 50 Cent, Big Sean, Alicia Keys, the Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Busta Rhymes, Camila Cabello, Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, Jadakiss, Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch, T.I., Future, J. Cole, Jack Harlow, Ice-T, Killer Mike, Lil Baby, Quavo, Joey Bada$$, John Legend, Lil Uzi Vert, Moneybagg Yo, Post Malone, Questlove, Tee Grizzley, Ty Dolla $ign, Yo Gotti, and the late Takeoff. Other major pop and country stars such as Morgan Wallen and Christina Aguilera also signed the letter as well as representatives from major record labels.

Julie Greenwald, Chairman & CEO of WMG’s Atlantic Music Group, made the following statement: “Throughout history, artists have created characters and forged narratives that reflect the culture around them. That freedom of expression is essential to the creative process and the role of art in society. The harsh reality is that Black artistic creativity is being threatened at an unprecedented level, and we must make every effort to stop this unethical, discriminatory approach to prosecution.”

Blac Chyna will not be facing any penalties for her role in an alleged assault that took place earlier this year. On Tuesday, the LAPD announced that “the case is no longer being investigated by detectives” and that all charges against Blac Chyna (real name Angela White) had been dropped.

The now-dismissed charges stem from an altercation that took place at a Los Angeles nightclub in which Black Chyna allegedly kicked her friend, Sequoya King, after she accused King of recording her on her phone. King denied the accusation and the two got into a heated argument, which reportedly escalated into a physical altercation.

King also alleges that Chyna took her phone and broke it.

The incident took place in May of 2022 shortly after Chyna lost her $100 million lawsuit against the Kardashians in which she accused the Kardashians of preventing her from adequately profiting from her role in their reality show.

As of Tuesday night, neither Chyna nor her accuser had made any sort of public statement regarding the matter.

Janelle Monáe has received widespread praise for her musical talents, but she was also recently honored for her social activism efforts with the LGBTQ community.

Monae was honored at the 40th annual Outfest Legacy Awards gala, an annual event that showcases the LGBTQ community and allies within the entertainment industry.

Monae, who identifies as gender non-binary, received the Trailblazer Award for her activism and philanthropy efforts on Saturday night.

Accepting her award in a black leather outfit accessorized with black gloves and a black top hat, Monae said: “I feel like I’m at my church tonight…I feel like I am in church and I am with people that feel me and see me and understand me… I’m just deeply humbled and just so thankful and at a loss for real words to match my feelings. So just accept my thank you. Thank you so much.”

Monae also spoke to reporters on the red carpet about the importance of LGBTQ representation in the entertainment industry, saying, “visibility is important for the next generation to see; like, ‘I have community, I have people putting in real effort to make sure that I’m seen, that I’m heard, that I’m present.” She continued by saying that “we obviously have a lot of work to continue to do, but the work they’ve done over the last 40 years, that’s a big deal.”

In addition to the awards, the event also features live performances from musical guests and special appearances by select celebrities.

Financial apps like Venmo, CashApp, and Zelle have made life easier for millions of people. However, they are still not foolproof from human error- a lesson that hip-hop artist Yung Joc learned the hard way earlier this week.

Joc reportedly sent $1800 to the wrong person on Zelle. He shared a screenshot on Instagram showing the series of messages in which he told the unknown recipient that he didn’t know him or her, nor did they know him. He said “God has a bigger blessing for you….”

The user reportedly blocked the “It’s Goin’ Down” rapper after the first two text messages. Seemingly frustrated, Joc appealed to his followers for help.

He captioned the conversation’s screenshot with the following: “So I sent them a Zelle by mistake and they won’t return my money…. can y’all please call/text them and ask them to return my lil change? 67859*****.” [We at The Source redacted the number.]

The appeal was met with mixed reactions by the artist’s followers with some saying that he can afford to take the L while others said that it was his money and he had the right to have it back. Other users pointed out the importance of doing a test send first to make sure that it went to the correct recipient.

While $1800 might not seem like a lot to most chart-topping artists and reality show stars, there have been rumors that Joc’s finances may be a bit shaky. In Gucci Mane’s song, “F*** the World,” a controversial line made reference to Yung Jog when Gucci rapped “I got all eyes on me like Pac did, but I ain’t tryin’ to go broke like Joc did.” 

Yung Joc also has nine children to support.

Kanye West is in the news again. And again, it is not for his music or other artistic endeavors. During an episode of Revolt TV’s “Drink Champs,” Ye claimed that George Floyd died of an overdose from fentanyl as opposed to the actions of the four Minneapolis police officers who have been convicted of his murder or with their involvement in it.

In the show, Ye, who appeared wearing a hat that said “2024” on the brim, referenced the Candace Owens documentary, “Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM,” as the basis for his claims. He begins with a vague mention of Floyd allegedly telling his roommates that “they”…”want a tall guy like me” before reportedly praying for eight minutes. West then alleges that “they” hit him [Floyd] with fentanyl. West said in reference to convicted former officer Derek Chauvin, “the guy’s knee “wasn’t even on his neck like that” before claiming that “mama” was in reference to Floyd’s girlfriend as opposed to his mother, which most had assumed to be the case.

He then ranted against Louis Vuitton and “the Jewish media” for allegedly “blocking me out,” before repeatedly saying “I’m lit.” He also rallied against JP Morgan Chase bank, who cut ties with West earlier this week, despite West’s point that he had not done anything illegal.

While the show’s host, N.O.R.E., appeared to agree with Ye on that final point, he has faced backlash for allowing West to make his claims regarding Floyd without interruption.

In response to West’s interview, civil rights attorney Lee Merritt tweeted the following on Sunday: “While one cannot defame the dead, the family of #GeorgeFloyd is considering suit for Kanye’s false statements about the manner of his death. Claiming Floyd died from fentanyl not the brutality established criminally and civilly undermines & diminishes the Floyd family’s fight.”

Although the 2024 presidential election is still over two years away, it has not stopped people from speculating about possible presidential contenders. One of the long-shot speculations has been Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who in the past has teased the possibility of someday running for office. However, he recently clarified that he will not be entering the 2024 presidential race.

In an interview with Tracy Smith for CBS Sunday Morning, Johnson said in no uncertain terms that a presidential run in 2024 was “off the table,” explaining that it would take time away from his family. However, he did say: “I love our country and everyone in it. I also love being a daddy. And that’s the most important thing to me — is being a daddy. Number one, especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters’ lives, because I know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years in my first daughter’s … life. And that’s what the presidency would do.”

Johnson, who supported the Biden and Harris candidacy in 2020, followed up in his own Instagram post, sharing the interview, where he wrote the following:

“Really enjoyed and appreciate sitting down with my friend @thattracysmith & @cbssundaymorning  We chopped up a lot of meaningful topics – including running for POTUS.

With midterms here and a presidential election 2 years away, I’ve been approached by the most influential in politics on both sides of the aisle asking and supporting that I run for President. It’s a humbling, grateful and inspiring feeling to even have these conversations, as I’m not a politician nor have I ever aspired to be one. But I am a patriot to my core, love my country and everyone in it.

But being a father to my little girls is the most important thing in my life. To raise ‘em and always be there, during these critical years in their life.

Kanye West is back on Twitter for the first time since his failed 2020 presidential bid. However, the return may have less to do with how much he likes Twitter, but rather in response to his recent Instagram restriction.

Ye’s troubles began last week when he posted private screenshots between himself and Sean “Diddy” Combs regarding West’s controversial “White Lives Matter’ t-shirts that he debuted at his Yeezy show at Paris Fashion Week. Ye essentially accused Combs of “being controlled by Jews.” In one screenshot, West wrote: “Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me.” 

The conversation was publicly condemned on Twitter by the American Jewish Committee as “anti-Jewish.”

West’s posts were removed and his account was restricted following his shared screenshots, prompting him to take to Twitter and post the following with a photo of himself and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg: “Look at this Mark How you gone kick me off instagram You used to be my n****.”

Elon Musk, who was at one point reportedly in talks to buy Twitter, welcomed Ye’s return to the platform, tweeting “Welcome back to Twitter, my friend!”

Earlier last week, Ye had made other statements that many interpreted as anti-semitic. In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Ye accused former presidential senior advisor Jared Kushner (Ivanka Trump’s husband) of helping to orchestrate the Abraham Accords, a peace treaty between Israel UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco “to make money.”

Next week, DJ Cassidy‘s final edition of his famous ‘Pass the Mic’ will air on BET, directly following the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards. What began as a virtual series hosted from Cassidy’s home grew into a global phenomenon over the last two years. As he prepares to transition ‘Pass the Mic’ from a BET television series into one-time-only live in-person shows, Cassidy sat down with The Source to share how his final performance will be the capstone on celebrating what he calls “one of hip-hop’s golden eras.”

In his true showmanship style, Cassidy is putting on quite the event, teasing an all-star lineup of approximately 20 high-profile hip-hop heavyweights including Busta Rhymes, Method Man, Swiss Beatz, The Lox, Too Short, and Ice Cube, as well as over a dozen surprise artists whom Cassidy refers to as his “hip-hop heroes.”

[Author’s note: I know who they are, and trust me when I say that it will be an epic performance.]

Cassidy explained to The Source how some of his shows have strategically showcased what he refers to as “Hip-Hop’s golden eras.”

He explains how the first golden era of hip-hop is considered by many to span from the early 1980s to the early 1990s, an era that gave birth to the first superstars of the culture – Run DMC, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Salt ‘N Pepa, so on and so on.

“It was this pivotal era that I celebrated with ‘Pass The Mic: Volume Two,’” he explains. “That edition featured thirty-six iconic hip-hop stars, all who debuted between the years of 1983 and 1993. This is best exemplified by the opening and closing songs of the show, “Sucker MCs” by Run DMC which was released in ‘83, and “Hip Hop Hooray” by Naughty By Nature which was released in ‘93.”

The second golden era of Hip-Hop is considered by many to span the ten years that followed. According to Cassidy, during this definitive period, music that would have typically been considered music for the streets became music for the mainstream. “Hip-hop began selling millions of records like never before, transforming global pop culture, from music to fashion to film. Rappers became pop stars, designers, and actors,” he states.

As for how these eras relate to his final installment of the ‘Pass the Mic’ franchise, he explains:

“After premiering ‘Pass The Mic: Volume Two,’ I immediately dreamt of a sequel, and I just knew that sequel should be the grand finale. Hip-hop is my first love and my greatest inspiration, so it felt right that the culmination of the series as we know it should be a celebration of Hip-hop. In this final edition, I’m going to pass the mic to twenty iconic hip-hop superstars, all of whom changed the game in their own massive way. These artists changed the sound, the look, and the influence of the culture. Their careers span decades. Their music transcends time and place. Simply put, this is the grandest finale I could have ever imagined.”

While this edition of ‘Pass The Mic’ marks the grand finale of the series as we know it, it also marks the beginning of the future.

“‘Pass The Mic’ has really just begun and will continue to bring the celebration to party people around the world,” Cassidy says. “One of the next chapters is ‘Pass The Mic Live’ in which I will bring the celebration to the live stage. In anticipation of what’s to come, I’ve already produced two epic pop-up shows, one at the Pegasus World Cup in Miami which featured surprise live performances from Ja Rule, Lil Kim, Mase, and Jadakiss, and one at the opening of the Hard Rock Hotel in New York City which featured surprise live performances from Nas, Busta Rhymes, and Fat Joe. The third pop show will take place on October 21st at the Grand Prix Formula 1 in Austin and will feature live performances from Robin Thicke, Wyclef Jean, and Shaggy. These pop-up shows are just the beginning of what’s to come for ‘Pass The Mic!’”

In just a few short years, Lil Baby has contributed a lot to the hip-hop community. However, he has also contributed a lot to the community in his hometown of Atlanta and was recently recognized for these efforts.

Lil Baby, whose real name is Dominique Armani Jones, received the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award at the 2nd annual Music in Action Awards Gala, an event that benefits the Black Music Action Coalition. The award is given to a recipient for their efforts in promoting social and racial justice.

The “Drip too Hard” artist received the award from his multiple community efforts in Atlanta. His annual “Back to School Fest,” was held at Atlanta’s West End Mall in partnership with Goodr. Over 3,000 local school children attended the event, which had music, games, food, and even carnival rides. Attendees also received backpacks, school supplies, and haircuts. He also partnered with Atlanta restaurateur Lemont Bradley to offer 100 jobs to young adults in the Atlanta community while establishing the $150,000 “My Turn” scholarship program, designed to provide scholarships to students at his former high school.

Upon accepting the award at the event, Lil Baby made the following statement: ““I honestly didn’t know what a humanitarian was, but as I looked into it and started reading, I understand that I’m actually humanitarian.” He added, “I just want to say that I appreciate everybody in here because nothing that we are doing or trying to do can be done by one person. It’s gonna take all of us to stick together and stay together.”

An Instagram post uploaded by the artist shows him dressed for the black tie event standing in his driveway with a caption that reads: “Thank You To The @bma_coalition For Honoring Me With The @quincyjones Humanitarian Award! #universityofthehood.”

While most Americans (and other citizens of the world) have heeded their government’s advice and avoided travel to Russia, rapper 6ix9ine has done the opposite, causing quite the controversy not just with his actions, but his words as well.

The “Gummo” artist shared a video of himself in a Moscow city square clad in all black and oversized sunglasses, saying “Yo yo, you know we out here….sh** is crazy,” while looking around the square. He then leans into the camera and says “F*** Brittney Griner” before the cameraman says “I got the t-shirt for you bud” before the video cuts off.

Griner was arrested and detained in Russia for over six months after Russian officials found hashish oil in her luggage at an airport. She was sentenced to nine years in prison on drug charges. Many celebrities, politicians, and citizens have been calling for her release. While other celebrities such as Dennis Rodman have offered to go to Russia to try to negotiate on her behalf, ultimately they were advised not to by government officials due to Russia’s politically volatile situation. 

6ix9ine, who has faced his own legal troubles in the US, has apparently brought his bad boy ways with him across the ocean. He also recently started a fight with a DJ at Soho Garden in Dubai because the DJ was reportedly not playing his music.

While PnB Rock‘s untimely death took a toll on the music industry and hip-hop community, his family is naturally grieving even more- and apparently, after many struggles, will soon get the late artist’s body from Los Angeles back to his hometown of Philadelphia.

PnB Rock’s family reportedly wanted the late artist’s body immediately because of religious reasons, but the Los Angeles medical examiner declined to release the body immediately since PnB Rock’s death is part of a larger homicide investigation. Islamic customs generally forbid autopsies, but the Los Angeles Country medical examiner’s official position was that an autopsy is required by law in certain situations, including a homicide investigation.

PnB Rock’s younger brother, PnB Meen, has spent the last week expressing his grief and sharing posts showing love for his late brother. However, it appeared that he and his family are struggling to get PnB’s body released to them. Early Saturday, he uploaded (and deleted shortly after) a picture of his late brother with a caption:

“We been Having trouble getting My brothers back to Philadelphia”…”the state of Los Angeles Claiming they Have some type of Law, goin against ours As Muslims. Now I have no clue when his Janazah”…” It’s not right yo it’s goin on a week”…”prayers Up I got you big Bro and ya Daughters.”

PnB Rock’s family reportedly showed up at the medical examiner’s office and LAPD was called to diffuse the situation.

However, later on Saturday, TMZ reported that the medical examiner’s office was ready to release the body to the family.

Janazah is part of the traditional Islamic funeral ritual. The Islamic faith has a series of preparations that they undertake within 72 hours of death to prepare the deceased’s body for burial. The Janazah is the funeral prayer that requests the deceased’s forgiveness.

The medical examiner released the autopsy findings Friday, saying PnB Rock died from a gunshot wound to his back/chest, classifying his death as a homicide.

Earlier this week, footage appeared to show the aftermath of Blueface punching Chrisean Rock’s dad. While this appeared to cast the “Thotiana” rapper in a negative light, newly released surveillance footage shows that Blueface did not throw the first punch, as had been earlier speculated.

The altercation took place outside of the Four Seasons in Baltimore on Friday evening. It appeared that a large number of Blueface and Rock’s families and entourages were meeting in front of a video crew.

Newly released video footage from a nearby surveillance camera shows a male (reportedly Rock’s father, whose name is unclear) in a tense conversation with Blueface. The man then sucker punches Blueface, who then stumbles backwards. The video shows Blueface swinging and missing at first, but then punching the man, knocking him down.

Rock has cast her father in a negative light on social media in the past, calling him “absent” and “abusive” in now-deleted tweets.

By the time the police arrived, the situation appears to have de-escalated with Baltimore PD stating that they responded to a disturbance call, but no official report was filed.

The event comes just days after Blueface and Rock appeared together walking the runway at NYFW. However, the couple has a long and public history of fighting.

A little over fifteen years ago, Steve Jobs stood on stage and revealed the first iPhone in a reveal that would change the world as we know it (for nostalgia, the full video can be found here). On Wednesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook continued the tradition of launch announcements to share some new features and updates to the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods.

The launch event was pre-recorded and delivered from Apple Park, the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California. Cook started sharing a montage of users who had used their Apple Watches in life-threatening situations and then shared some new features of the upcoming Apple Watch 7. The watch’s biggest change (in addition to a slightly new design and bigger screen) is that it is reportedly more durable and able to withstand more extreme conditions than previous models. The watch targets outdoor athletes with increased water resistance, increased durability, a compass, and a depth metric for scuba divers. The 7 series t also has a new “action” button for quick use while working out or wearing gloves. The 7 series has more health tracking capabilities and car crash detection technology, which can detect if the wearer was in a severe car crash and automatically call emergency services. The watch will also reportedly get up to 60 hours of battery life thanks to a new software rollout.

Cook unveiled the iPhone 14, which comes in two models: the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. The Plus will replace the “iPhone 13 mini” model with a bigger model with a 6.7-inch screen. One of the biggest changes is that digital eSIM technology will replace a physical SIM card. However, the 14’s biggest reveal was the phone’s capability to connect to satellites for emergency services in remote areas thanks to a partnership with Globalstar. 

The third product reveal was a new generation of AirPods. An Apple H2 chip reportedly provides better sound quality and clarity. Other new features include an improved volume touch control button, longer battery life, a smaller XS ear tip, and an in-case speaker.

The new Apple Watch will cost at least $799 and will be available in stores on about Sept. 23. Preorders will be available next Wednesday. The iPhone 14 will start at $799 and the Plus will start at $899. Preorders start on Sept 9, but the Plus won’t ship until October. The new AirPods Pro cost $249 and will go on sale on Sept 23.

For Utah football, their weekend in Florida went from bad to worse. Following a heartbreaking loss to Florida thanks to linebacker Amari Burney’s game-ending interception, the team had boarded the plane and was ready to head back to Salt Lake City when it became apparent that there was a serious mechanical issue that would prevent the team’s chartered jet from leaving Gainesville.

The plane was scheduled to depart at midnight, but instead, the team and staff waited on the tarmac for over four hours before deplaning. A tweet from ESPN commentator Dan Orlovsky shows the team and staff stranded at the airport at 5:25 the morning.

The flight had been rescheduled for 4:10 am EST, but apparently still had mechanical issues, delaying the team in “the swamp” indefinitely until further accommodations could be made.

The University of Florida reportedly helped Utes players and staff get rooms at their partner hotels while they waited for a flight home.

Utah athletic director Mark Harlan thanked Florida’s athletic department in a tweet, stating: “Been a long night and day for the team but we are so greatful to [the Florida Gators] and AD [Scott Stricklin] & his administrative team for providing critical assistance as we have managed this, including providing a hotel partner, busses & meals. We expect to charter home later today.”

The team reportedly left at about 5:10 pm EST, just shy of 24 hours after the prior day’s kickoff.

The University of Utah Utes, who started the season ranked No. 7, suffered a 29-26 loss to the unranked Gators following quarterback Cam Rising’s interception toss in the end zone.

Politics has a way of dividing even the closest of friends and while it appeared that famous artists John Legend and Kanye West had a traditional Democrat vs. Republican fallout, that was not apparently the case.

In an interview with the New Yorker, Legend clarifies that while he is a vocal supporter of many Democrats, including Joe Biden, his and West’s issues have nothing to do with West’s one-time support of Donald Trump, but rather because Legend didn’t endorse West in his 2020 presidential run.

In the interview, Legend stated the following: “What it got described as was, we stopped being friends because he supported Trump, which was a mischaracterization of what I said. That was kind of the Rupert Murdoch version of the story—it was all over the New York Post and Fox News. What I was saying was that he was very upset with me that I didn’t support him running for President, and that was the real impetus for us having a strain in our friendship. I don’t know what will happen in the future, but he was very upset with me that I didn’t support him and I supported Joe Biden. It’s up to him whether he can get past that.” [According to the New Yorker, West could not be reached for comment.]

In 2018, Ye posted screenshots of a tweet in which Legend asked him to “reconsider aligning [himself] with Trump,” to which West followed up with a series of bizarre tweets in which he seemed to emphasize independent thought while still maintaining his support for then-president Trump.

However, when West made his own run for president, Legend did not support him and rather supported Biden.

Legend was not the only hip-hop artist to draw West’s ire. On a 2020 episode of “Drink Champs,” West called both Legend and Big Sean sellouts for not supporting him, stating, ““​I know this man mama, bro. … I changed this man’s family. Both John Legend and Big Sean, when I ran for office, got used quick by the Democrats to come at they boy that actually changed they life. And that’s some sellout sh-t. And I don’t rock with neither of them and I need my apologies. I ain’t saying they gon’ change, but n-ggas is scared.”

West received about 60,000 votes out of an estimated total of 160 million in the 2020.

Fat Joe has been a prominent fixture in the hip-hop community for over two decades now, but recently he stirred up debate online when he claimed that hip-hop was created “half and half” by blacks and Latinos.

On Friday, he took to Instagram with a 45-second clip meant to celebrate the contributions of Latino artists, DJs, and groups who contributed to the hip-hop genre over the years including the Mean Machine, DJ Junebug, DJ Disco Wiz, and more. He captioned the clip “Thank you for your contribution to HIP HOP.”

The post, which appeared to be positive in nature and celebrated the contributions of the artists, was largely met with praise and positive feedback. However, some criticized Fat Joe in the comments.

On Saturday, Fat Joe went live on Instagram live to promote DJ Khaled‘s upcoming album, God Did. About 50 minutes into the session, Fat Joe addresses some of the backlash that he appeared to be receiving in the comments section. 

The Bronx native noted that people had been questioning Latinos’ place in rap and the hip-hop culture.

He said that he recently had gone on Twitter where people had been talking about how “Latinos wasn’t in rap….this and that….these guys are f***ing delusional.”

He continued: “We from the Bronx, New York, sh** happens, it’s where hip-hop started. It’s Latino and black, half and half. But they’re going at me because I’m the only Spanish dude like really with a big voice.”

He imitated someone typing on a keyboard, saying “Latinos wasn’t there, you wasn’t invited, you are a specimen, I don’t know what is up with these people? They don’t know their facts.”

Twitter and Instagram users appeared to be divided, with some saying that the Latino culture did indeed have a presence in hip-hop while others called Fat Joe and DJ Khaled “culture vultures.”
