With new music on the way, The Weeknd continues to run up the numbers. His latest edition of “Die for You,” featuring Ariana Grande, has hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The leap happened from the No. 6 slot.

According to Luminate, the song “Die for You,” dropped on XO/Republic Records, received 81.1 million radio airplay audience impressions (up less than 1%), 32.4 million streaming (up 181%), and 14,000 sales (up 1,170%), between February 24 and March 2.

The No. 1 single is the seventh for both The Weeknd and Grande. Their most recent No. 1s was “Save Your Tears,” another duet between the two.

The collaboration follows the single’s stunning resurgence, which has completed “the longest climb to #1 in U.S. radio history.”

Fans got a sneak view of the collaboration via Ariana’s TikTok account. She posted herself working on the vocals and revealing that she composed and recorded a verse for one of her friends after a 14-hour day on the set of Jon M. Chu’s next film WICKED.

Continuing his worldwide dominance, Abel has become the first artist in Spotify history to reach 100 million monthly listeners.

Legendary R&B singer Monica does not have time for nonsense while performing.  In the middle of her set, she stopped to address the fight in the crowd. 

The “Everything To Me” singer is on her R&B experience tour, which had a stop in Washington, D.C.  Monica was confused about why the fight was going on because she was singing a love ballad at the time.

“Wait a minute!  I’m singing a love song.  I ain’t singing ‘Knuck If You Buck’ baby, calm that s*** down.  Somebody take her and get a drink on me!  Calm down.  They f****** you up, baby?  Me too, join the club.  Take it on out of here.”

Security escorted both parties out of the concert, and Monica performed her hit “So Gone” to celebrate them leaving.  Video circulated on social media as many people took to the comments to share their opinion.

New York rapper Lil Mama and reality TV personality Sukihana have had a recent back-and-forth on social media.  Sukihana recently appeared in NLE Choppa’s new video for his song, “Slut Me Out (Remix).”  In one scene, the Love & Hip-Hop star can be seen on all fours while NLE Choppa pulls her hair.  Rapper Sexy Redd was on all fours as well, next to Sukihana.

Lil Mama took to Twitter to discuss the scene, but she deleted the post shortly after.  But it was too late as Sukihana saw the comment and decided to respond.

“They said the girl ‘lil mama’ that sing that lip gloss song was in the comments speaking on me.  If I was y’all I would tell her leave me tf alone”

The “Lip Gloss” rapper also added that she didn’t want to offend Sukihana or anyone else, which is why she deleted her original reaction. Lil Mama also mentioned the image that Sukihana is giving off affects her daughters and other young girls.

The road to Conway The Machine’s major label Shady/Interscope Records debut, God Don’t Make Mistakes, was undeniably impactful and incredibly redemptive.  Universally hailed by critics and fans alike, the album was also his commercial breakthrough, as God Don’t Make Mistakes rose to the top of DSP charts and was also his highest-charting Billboard project to date.

Blxst is back, dropping off a new video for his track “Passionate,” featuring Roddy Ricch. The new single is a call to how far both have come and enjoying the success their hard work has earned.

The visual shows sold-out crowds, expensive cars, and beautiful views of Los Angeles. The new video is directed by Mayowa and Blu. The single can be found on the Just For Clarity 2 project.

After a year that saw his first Grammy nominations, Blxst returned with his new EP Just For Clarity 2, released via Red Bull Records/EVGLE. The four-pack features Larry June, Roddy Ricch, Mustard, and Terrace Martin.

“‘Passionate’ is bigger than a song to me,” Blxst says of the project. “I like to look at it more as a mindset, especially working with Roddy on this record. I think it’s dope to see somebody’s success go from zero to a hundred, especially somebody from the hometown. I just remember us being in a studio before anybody knew who we were and we had that same drive and passion. This track is a look back at that, seeing where we were, where we are, where we’re going, and what brought us here today.”

The new EP serves as a homecoming project, celebrating his role in the city as one of the most talented artists.

Blxst adds, “’Just for Clarity 2′ is the second installment of a project I put together for my supporters to have an update of what’s going on in real-time. When I think of clarity, I think of being clear and getting straight to the point. It’s a moment for me to vent and be honest and transparent, which is a theme throughout the EP. I call it a flawless four pack because it’s intentionally short and sweet, but it’s also an appetizer before the debut.”

Now, the East Coast rapper returns with his newest single and visual titled “A Kid From The Town,” tapping Statik Selektah and Curren$y. The message behind the song? That no matter how successful you become, it’s always important to stay grounded and remember where you came from.

Nym Lo first met Spitta years ago in the 2010’s, so the two were already familiar with each other. When Statik Selektah was whipping up the beat, Nym immediately heard two voices in his head: 2 Chainz and Curren$y. When finalizing the song, Statik reached out to both artists… and Spitta spend his verse back in a day. The next morning, he posted to his Instagram and tagged Nym Lo — and it’s been up ever since!

Speaking on what the collab meant to him, Nym Lo states, “To me, it meant I’m stepping in the right direction. This music business is real tricky and sometimes it’s easy to lose your way, so when the dots connect organically, your can’t even ask for more. He’s definitely an artist that I knew I could learn from because his game is cold. He got rich off this shit!”

The feel-good visual was shot in Spitta’s hometown of New Orleans. Nym explains, “I pulled up on him in the 7 and he was out in front of Jet Life headquarters wiping his Indy 500 Corvette down smoking and chillin’. That’s what I wanted: I wanted to get next to my dawg in his element, pop some champ and really get the best vibe I could while capturing it on film. It was a movie. He had his car crew out there so all the homies had the old schools bouncing, 3-wheel motion type shit and the big block engine boys doing donuts and all that. It was crazy!”

Ja Morant’s gun fiasco has cost more than just his own career. According to TMZ, Morant’s nixed Powerade spot was going to feature NLE Choppa’s new single “Mo Up Front.” The commercial was going to be the kickoff to Powerade’s largest campaign, running through the NCAA tournament.

Choppa, a resident of Memphis and fan of the Grizzlies and Morant, maintains he will continue that support and will also appear in the team’s celebrity basketball game on March 20 to support St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Ja Morant is currently away from the Memphis Grizzlies, but he also will be away from commercial breaks. According to The Drum, Coca-Cola has pulled Morant’s Powerade campaign ads.

Morant is currently in the fallout from flashing a gun in the strip club on Instagram. He won’t be formally charged, but he is currently serving a suspension that runs through at least 15 games. Adding on, Powerade is pushing pause on their largest campaign in history, “From Underestimated to Undeniable,” which featured Morant. The ads have been pulled from YouTube and social media.

The campaign was set to be a major step forward in Coca-Cola’s aim to battle the power of Gatorade, with the combination of Body Armor.

Ken Sadowsky, a veteran beverage analyst, told The Drum, the controversy is “bad timing” for the brand as it heads into the summer season.

“There’s a lot of activity and growth in the isotonics category, but Coke is now facing a challenge for the umpteenth time. It’s difficult because the 600-pound Gatorade gorilla is pretty good at putting down challengers,” Sadowsky said.

The hip-hop star released his newest single, “Princess Treatment,” featuring the chocolate controversial beauty—Sukihana. After a year that saw his first Grammy nominations, Blxst is back with his new EP Just For Clarity 2, released via Red Bull Records/EVGLE. The four-pack features Larry June, Roddy Ricch, Mustard, and Terrace Martin.

“‘Passionate’ is bigger than a song to me,” Blxst says of the project. “I like to look at it more as a mindset, especially working with Roddy on this record. I think it’s dope to see somebody’s success go from zero to a hundred, especially somebody from the hometown. I just remember us being in a studio before anybody knew who we were and we had that same drive and passion. This track is a look back at that, seeing where we were, where we are, where we’re going, and what brought us here today.”

The new EP serves as a homecoming project, celebrating his role in the city as one of the most talented artists.

Blxst adds, “’Just for Clarity 2′ is the second installment of a project I put together for my supporters to have an update of what’s going on in real-time. When I think of clarity, I think of being clear and getting straight to the point. It’s a moment for me to vent and be honest and transparent, which is a theme throughout the EP. Conway The Machine’s Drumwork Records Spring takeover continues with Pain Provided Profit, his collaborative project with Jae Skeese, which is now available. This comes after the conclusion of his most recent sold-out Reject Mania European tour and the announcement of his own upcoming solo album, Won’t He Do It.

Jae Skeese, the first artist to sign with Conway The Machine’s Drumwork Music Group brand, contributed vocals to the first single from La Maquina, “Blood Roses,” and two tracks on the deluxe edition of From King To A GOD by Conway The Machine. This Memphis rapper’s big break is a long time coming.  From dropping out of high school at 15, to working in the streets to survive. His passion and inspiration stems from growing up around relatives who were performers and being in the church choir. Logic has once again found himself on the radar of Joe Budden. In case you missed it, Logic released an unconventional cover of Ice Cube’s “It Was a Good Day,” you can hear it below.

The performance made its way to the radar of Joe Budden, along with some others, who weren’t favorable of the cover. During the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Uncle Joe blasted Logic, once again asking him to join him in retirement.

“Logic, I beg of you, I’m pleading with you: please join me in retirement. Never step near a recording device again. Throw your phone in the ocean! Be allergic to microphones! Promise your fans nothing! Don’t go to the studio ever again! You are the worst, yo! You are really, really bad!”

Logic’s supporting band got some heat as well:  “This is the unsauce-iest band I’ve ever seen. Look at this band. Who asked for this folk version of this song? Oh my God.”

Commentary from Joe Budden about Logic’s career isn’t new. In a 2020 interview with Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg, the No Pressure rapper opened up about Joe Budden, after he delivered an apology about some opinions he had.

“I didn’t see the apology. I didn’t see his review of the album or any of this,” Logic said, when asked about the apology. “I literally have no issue with Joe Budden…I’ve never met him. I don’t know him.

“He doesn’t like me for whatever reason. He wants to say I’m not Black enough. I’m not good enough,” Logic said. “He’s a person who’s led to part of my depression, some of my darkest spaces.” He added that, though Budden may not believe his dialogue is that harsh, it carries a heavy burden on people. “Bro, your words, they make people want to kill themselves, bro.”

Earlier this month, Logic has released his much-anticipated eighth studio album, College Park.

Logic has teased this album with singles like “Wake Up,” “Paradise II” with Norah Jones, “Highlife,” which includes a video made by actor and filmmaker Kevin Smith, and “Lightsabers,” which he played on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week.

College Park depicts Logic’s journey to date while also marking a new beginning. The album’s title is a tribute to the Maryland town where he spent a year sleeping on a couch in his friend Big Lenbo’s basement and waking up every morning to write and record raps. In College Park, Logic creates an autobiographical yarn as he recounts a day in his life in 2011, culminating with his first-ever live performance in Washington, D.C.

The Weeknd continues to run up the numbers. His latest edition of “Die for You,” featuring Ariana Grande, has hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The leap happened from the No. 6 slot.

According to Luminate, the song “Die for You,” dropped on XO/Republic Records, received 81.1 million radio airplay audience impressions (up less than 1%), 32.4 million streaming (up 181%), and 14,000 sales (up 1,170%), between February 24 and March 2.

The No. 1 single is the seventh for both The Weeknd and Grande. Their most recent No. 1s was “Save Your Tears,” another duet between the two.

The collaboration follows the single’s stunning resurgence, which has completed “the longest climb to #1 in U.S. radio history.”

Fans got a sneak view of the collaboration via Ariana’s TikTok account. She posted herself working on the vocals and revealing that she composed and recorded a verse for one of her friends after a 14-hour day on the set of Jon M. Chu’s next film WICKED.

Continuing his worldwide dominance, Abel has become the first artist in Spotify history to reach 100 million monthly listeners.

Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina by the way of Liberia, West Africa, Reuben Vincent states his claim as a storyteller with guidance from some of Hip-Hop’s elder statesmen, 9th Wonder and Young Guru.

Through their coaching, Vincent embodies the phrase: Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.

His “today” started at 13 years of age with his first encounter with producer 9th Wonder, who was impressed by Vincent’s dedication even in his youth.

Almost a decade later, 9th Wonder has witnessed the 22 year-old’s growth, which stems from his insatiable persona.

“I know what my purpose is, how I want to attack it and I’m fully immersing myself in it,” says the “February 13th” rapper.

That growth leads us to Love is War where Vincent’s flexes his lyrical prowess as a warm-up into his thoughts and experiences throughout his life thus far. The album title derives from a myriad of life experiences including battle with self, marital differences between his Liberian-born parents and Liberia’s Civil War that affected and displaced majority of the country’s population.

“At times we are not given to right tools to love properly,” says the “Bottle “That builds internal wars. We have to go to war with ourselves to figure out how we want to progress. It’s You vs. You.”

His album cover, where he gazes into his reflection, shows a man with a lot of questions for both himself and the world. By the projects conclusion with an outro entitled “Point of View”, Reuben Vincent is decisive about the objective of his journey.

He raps:

Til God is calling' on me
My only call is the truth

“When I look in the mirror, I see a warrior who’s ok with the good and bad that comes with life,” Vincent says. “I also realize things I was searching for were right here in front of me the entire time.”

Love Is War features cameos from Rapsody, TDE’s Reason, Ant Clemons and more. Reuben Vincent is set to make his Dreamville Festival debut on April 2.

Masego has dropped his new self-titled album via EQT Recordings and Capitol Records.

The new album is his second, bringing a fusion of jazz, hip-hop, and R&B ahead of his upcoming worldwide You Never Visit Me Tour that launches on March 12.

“I’m very thankful of the journey. This went from a hobby to a job,” says Masego. “I was getting all the things that they say that you’re supposed to be fulfilled by and I wasn’t fulfilled by it. I had to do a re-evaluation of a lot of things. I said, ‘I can’t make this what I imagined it to be. So I cannot remain here. I need to move.’”

The SOURCE: How did you get your start, and what really attracted you to being a participant in this podcast?

Brandon Pope: You know, I wasn’t like one of those kids that had a dream of being a TV reporter or a journalist or anything. I wanted to be a power ranger. I wanted to be an astronaut. I wanted to be one of those things [laughs]. I had this great radio and TV class in high school. We made music videos and did morning announcements. I did some documentaries and stuff like that. And I just realized, okay, this media thing is cool. And once I applied to college, they were like, yeah, we call that journalism. So I’m like, all right, cool. I’ll do some journalism then. From there, man, it’s just been kinda learning the ropes and soaking up all the information I can. I have great mentors. My first market was South Bend, Indiana as a multimedia journalist, one man band that was shooting, writing, editing, doing sports for Notre Dame athletics. Then coming to Chicago and doing lifestyle tv and then getting this opportunity with WBEZ, Chicago Public Media, and NPR and hosting an incredible podcast succeeding an amazing public radio legend in Jen White and having her blessing. I’ve been doing some podcasting for a while. The team approached me and said, this would be a really cool thing to have your voice be a part of. And I hope that we’re doing a good job of that with these amazing black figures.

What experience did you have to let you know that this was going to be a good merger of the minds and have the creative freedom to tell these Black stories?

It was just knowing who I was working with. WBEZ has a great reputation, not just here in the city of Chicago, but throughout the country. And I had definitely listened to Making before I was a big fan of Making Obama and Making Oprah. I was listening to every episode and I loved the style of narrative storytelling that they did. So I was already familiar with the brand. I was already familiar with the people. I knew that they had a passion for good quality human storytelling. And so it was a perfect match in that regard.

How did you prepare yourself for being able to move over to that world, a more narrative-based history storytelling as opposed to entertainment?

I think a lot of it is just kind of tapping into what I do on TV but figuring out how I can bring that to the audio world. My TV career has been a lot of narrative storytelling and telling uplifting stories about our people, Black people. But the way you do it on TV is a lot more based on the visuals. Whereas with audio, you have to find a way to draw people in, right? And you draw people in through conversation. I’m a person who’s passionate about having a good conversation. Unfortunately, the TV industry is based off a lot of short timing. You don’t have a long time to have a real meaty conversation. But with the podcast, with this format, we’re able to really expand and unpack things.

Within this Making series, you talked about how you came into hearing Making Oprah or Making Obama. Through your tenure, you have tackled history from as recent as the past 10 years to up to 40 years. Who do you think created your favorite episode?

I’m a sports guy, right? So I’d say, personally, the Kobe Bryant episode may have been the one I was most excited about. I’m the happiest with how we approached it cause it was also the most challenging. Kobe Bryant himself, we know him as a sports icon, right? But there’s also another story to tell. He went through quite a few controversies and we needed to make sure that we had to make a decision, are we just going to tell gleaming histories and ignore anything that was controversial or any of the other stuff? Or are we gonna tell a full picture and really approach this from a journalistic perspective? And so Kobe was our chance to really do that. What we did with Kobe Bryant, yes, we talked about the sports icon himself. We talked to his head coach in high school, Gregg Downer. We talked to a columnist who had covered Kobe Bryant. So we got that perspective for sure. But there’s another conversation that we had about the sexual assault trial and about that controversy there.

So we had a separate conversation about how we deal with legacies. Complicated legacies and these legends that don’t have the most gleaming history out there might evoke different feelings depending on who you’re talking to. And I think, in that sense, that’s where our podcast became really bigger than just the idea of talking to people. It became let’s explore ideas about society. Let’s explore ideas about culture. Let’s explore ideas about the way we deal with complicated figures. And so Kobe Bryant was our chance to do that and dig into that. I think we did a great job of that.

Was there a time examining someone that you had a perspective change, for better or worse?

I think there are some people who are a big deal. You appreciate their contribution to history, but you don’t exactly. You’ve never had a chance to really sit down and process what their impact was. And I think for me, Jesse Owens was the best example of that. I’m an Ohio guy. I know the Jesse Owens story well. He went to Ohio State, and was killing these boys at track meets in Michigan. You know, I mean, it’s a great story. But I had never been able to really get told a full history of him and some of the stuff he went through, like going to the Nazi Olympics, right? Looking Hitler in the eye, right? At a time when, you know, the US is even questioning whether they should be a part of the Olympics at this time in Germany. Telling that story and then hearing from his family members, and professionals, these people who have dedicated their lives to understanding this person deeper than just their athletic accomplishments, but who they are, what their philosophies were, and what they meant to the world. Jesse Owen Owens was that opportunity where I got to learn something. I learned a lot, and I’m able to walk around now with a greater appreciation for what he’s done, not just for sports, but for American society. Um, and that’s probably my favorite part about doing this podcast. I’m a co-learner. The audience is learning things, but I’m learning stuff too. Diane Sawyer, famously said, stay curious. And I’m a guy. I’m all about that. I’m always curious. I’m always trying to learn more. And so I love that I’m able to unpack these legends and discover new things I had never heard before.

What have you learned about yourself, both as a professional, but also just as someone who appreciates the work and the efforts of these icons and has contributed to our culture?

What I learned about myself through this is that I need to trust myself more and trust my own voice more. I think that it’s easy when you are used to one style of thing and you’re jumping into something else to feel a little bit of trepidation. I’m really happy that I’ve had a great support team who’s explained new terms to me and helped me through some stuff. And they’ve helped me trust my voice, find my voice because they, want to hear more of my voice, and I’m empowered to be a part of it.

Joey Bada$$ and Serayah were heating up the Internet with dating rumors. For now, they have paired for the new single and video “Show Me.” The single appeared on the Distant Strangers soundtrack and also his 2000 album.

The video, which was directed by Levi Turner and Mccray Sutherlin, focuses on Joey as he experiences the highs and lows of a romantic connection with Serayah, who plays his on-screen partner. A variety of Los Angeles locations serve as the backdrop for the short, which unfolds like an emotional rollercoaster. It presents an insightful perspective into contemporary love appropriate for the song, drawing inspiration from the 1997 classic Love Jones.

Keeping the hits coming, The Weeknd and Ariana Grande have collaborated on a remix of his single “Die For You,” which appears on his critically praised album Starboy.

The collaboration follows the single’s stunning resurgence, which has completed “the longest climb to #1 in U.S. radio history.” It has also clinched #1 on the Billboard Radio Songs Chart for two weeks and has been on the Billboard Hot 100 for the entire year of 2023, recently vaulting into the Top 10, serving as his 16th Top 10 entry on the respective chart. The song also charted in the Top 20 on the Billboard Global 200, giving him his 15th Top 20 hit.

Fans got a sneak view of the collaboration via Ariana’s TikTok account. She posted herself working on the vocals and revealing that she composed and recorded a verse for one of her friends after a 14-hour day on the set of Jon M. Chu’s next film WICKED.

To end Black History Month, afro-fusion artist Omah Lay just gave a memorable performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk.

He performed tracks including his current single, “soso,” and a fan favorite, “understand,” backed by a full live band that included backup vocalists. He joined a stellar cast of R&B, soul, jazz, gospel, rock, and hip-hop legends as part of NPR’s Black History Month programming schedule, capping the four-week run with his singular interpretation of Afrobeats.

His Druski-co-signed sound is inspired by a fuse of heavy metal and chill. The high energy track creates a positive vibe, that has built up anticipation for future viral releases.

Logic, the Grammy-nominated rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer, has released his much-anticipated eighth studio album, College Park.

Logic has teased this album with singles like “Wake Up,” “Paradise II” with Norah Jones, “Highlife,” which includes a video made by actor and filmmaker Kevin Smith, and “Lightsabers,” which he played on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week.

College Park depicts Logic’s journey to date while also marking a new beginning. The album’s title is a tribute to the Maryland town where he spent a year sleeping on a couch in his friend Big Lenbo’s basement and waking up every morning to write and record raps. In College Park, Logic creates an autobiographical yarn as he recounts a day in his life in 2011, culminating with his first-ever live performance in Washington, D.C.

Payroll Giovanni has just released his new album, Ghost Mode. Jeezy, Babyface Ray, Big Quis, Hope Raney, and Biance’ Badd all appear on the album, which was produced by Cardo Got Wings.

Payroll’s goal-oriented attitude and collaborative mentality inspired the 15-track project. Today, he also releases a new video for “Ex Dealer Flow 2,” which features Jeezy and shows a rapper’s luxurious lifestyle while sonically blending midwestern and southern rap.

“Ghost Mode to me means cutting off distractions that don’t line up with your goals or your vision,” said Payroll Giovanni. “It could mean cutting off certain people, certain activities or places. Just disappearing from the scene and locking in until you reach your goals.”

Today (2/21/2023), The LOX rapper shares the official Bo-directed music video for album single “Death Before Dishonor” (featuring bass player, producer, singer, and band leader Brady Watt). 

“After I did Bass & Bars with Brady Watt, we agreed that we’d be doing more sh*t together in the future”, said Styles. “This song was that. As a 48 year old emcee, I like to step outside of my comfort zone, and I did that here. [‘Death Before Dishonor’] has a different feel not typical to Styles P, but still fits in with what I do. I didn’t even know Brady could sing or produce, but when he played me this track, I just followed my emcee intuition and started working on it right then and there.“

With guest appearances  from Bucky and Brady Watt, and production from Vinny Idol, Black Saun, Ty Feif, as well as Styles P’s son, Noah Styles, among others, Penultimate: A Calm Wolf Is Still A Wolf is P’s 15th solo project.

Jim can be seen popping bottles on a yacht in Miami Beach and stacking his bread like a Jenga tower. 

Jones reflects on his current lifestyle and how his past lifestyle helped elevate his superstar lifestyle with the cadence: “We jumping out of Ferraris and private jets without a suitcase, ‘cause we shop when we land, we got no top on the lamb, hood n***a, all white airs with no socks in the sand. I used to play with the keys, but the locks didn’t jam. We was in, mama’s kitchen playing with the pots and the pans…”

In case you don’t know what Cocaine Bear is, it’s the story of bricks of coke being tossed out a plane in a drug drop, but it was intersected by a wild black bear in the forest who gets extremely high and goes on a rampage. And get this, the film gets its inspiration from real-life events. In real life, the bear died, sadly. But Hollywood will make anything happen.
